Giacobbe a Betel

1 Dio disse a Giacobbe: «Àlzati, va’ ad abitare a Betel; là farai un altare al Dio che ti apparve quando fuggivi davanti a tuo fratello Esaù». 2 Allora Giacobbe disse alla sua famiglia e a tutti quelli che erano con lui: «Togliete gli dèi stranieri che sono in mezzo a voi, purificatevi e cambiatevi i vestiti; 3 partiamo, andiamo a Betel; là farò un altare al Dio che mi esaudì nel giorno della mia angoscia e che è stato con me nel viaggio che ho fatto». 4 Essi diedero a Giacobbe tutti gli dèi stranieri che erano nelle loro mani e gli anelli che avevano agli orecchi; Giacobbe li nascose sotto la quercia che è presso Sichem. 5 Poi partirono. Il terrore di Dio invase le città che erano intorno a loro, e nessuno inseguì i figli di Giacobbe. 6 Così Giacobbe e tutta la gente che aveva con sé giunsero a Luz, cioè Betel, che è nel paese di Canaan. 7 Lì costruì un altare e chiamò quel luogo El-Betel^[1], perché Dio gli era apparso lì quando egli fuggiva davanti a suo fratello. 8 Allora morì Debora, balia di Rebecca, e fu sepolta al di sotto di Betel, sotto la quercia che fu chiamata Allon-Bacut^[2]. 9 Dio apparve ancora a Giacobbe, quando questi veniva da Paddan-Aram, e lo benedisse. 10 Dio gli disse: «Il tuo nome è Giacobbe. Tu non sarai più chiamato Giacobbe, ma il tuo nome sarà Israele». E lo chiamò Israele. 11 Dio gli disse: «Io sono il Dio onnipotente; sii fecondo e moltìplicati; una nazione, anzi una moltitudine di nazioni discenderà da te, dei re usciranno dai tuoi lombi; 12 darò a te e alla tua discendenza dopo di te il paese che diedi ad Abraamo e a Isacco». 13 E Dio se ne andò risalendo dal luogo dove gli aveva parlato. 14 Allora Giacobbe eresse, nel luogo dove Dio gli aveva parlato, un monumento di pietra; vi fece sopra una libazione e vi sparse su dell’olio. 15 Giacobbe chiamò Betel il luogo dove Dio gli aveva parlato.

Nascita di Beniamino; morte di Rachele

16 Poi partirono da Betel. C’era ancora qualche distanza per arrivare a Efrata, quando Rachele partorì. Ella ebbe un parto difficile. 17 Mentre penava a partorire, la levatrice le disse: «Non temere, perché questo è un altro figlio per te». 18 Mentre l’anima sua se ne andava, perché stava morendo, chiamò il bimbo Ben-Oni^[3]; ma il padre lo chiamò Beniamino^[4]. 19 Rachele dunque morì e fu sepolta sulla via di Efrata, cioè di Betlemme. 20 Giacobbe eresse una pietra commemorativa sulla tomba di lei. Questa pietra commemorativa della tomba di Rachele esiste tuttora.

Giacobbe rivede suo padre; morte d’Isacco

21 Poi Israele partì e piantò la sua tenda di là da Migdal-Eder. 22 Mentre Israele abitava in quel paese, Ruben andò e si unì a Bila, concubina di suo padre, e Israele venne a saperlo. 23 I figli di Giacobbe erano dodici. I figli di Lea: Ruben, primogenito di Giacobbe, Simeone, Levi, Giuda, Issacar, Zabulon. 24 I figli di Rachele: Giuseppe e Beniamino. 25 I figli di Bila, serva di Rachele: Dan e Neftali. 26 I figli di Zilpa, serva di Lea: Gad e Ascer. Questi sono i figli di Giacobbe che gli nacquero in Paddan-Aram. 27 Giacobbe venne da Isacco suo padre a Mamre, a Chiriat-Arba, cioè Ebron, dove Abraamo e Isacco avevano soggiornato. 28 La durata della vita d’Isacco fu di centottant’anni. 29 Poi Isacco spirò, morì e fu riunito al suo popolo, vecchio e sazio di giorni; Esaù e Giacobbe, suoi figli, lo seppellirono.

Gott segnet Jakob in Bethel

1 Und Gott sprach zu Jakob: Mach dich auf und zieh nach Bethel und wohne daselbst und errichte dort einen Altar dem Gott, der dir erschien, als du flohst vor deinem Bruder Esau. (Gen 28,11; Gen 31,13) 2 Da sprach Jakob zu seinem Hause und zu allen, die mit ihm waren: Tut von euch die fremden Götter, die unter euch sind, und reinigt euch und wechselt eure Kleider, (Gen 31,19; De 27,15; Gios 24,23) 3 und lasst uns aufbrechen und nach Bethel ziehen, dass ich dort einen Altar errichte dem Gott, der mich erhört hat zur Zeit meiner Trübsal und mit mir gewesen ist auf dem Wege, den ich gezogen bin. 4 Da gaben sie ihm alle fremden Götter, die in ihren Händen waren, und ihre Ohrringe, und er vergrub sie unter der Eiche, die bei Sichem stand. (Gios 24,26; Giudic 9,6) 5 Und sie brachen auf. Und es kam ein Gottesschrecken über die Städte, die um sie her lagen, sodass sie den Söhnen Jakobs nicht nachjagten. (Eso 23,27; Gios 10,10) 6 So kam Jakob nach Lus im Lande Kanaan, das nun Bethel heißt, samt all dem Volk, das mit ihm war, 7 und er baute dort einen Altar und nannte die Stätte El-Bethel, weil Gott sich ihm daselbst offenbart hatte, als er vor seinem Bruder floh. 8 Da starb Debora, die Amme der Rebekka, und wurde begraben unterhalb von Bethel unter der Eiche; die wurde genannt die Klageeiche. (Gen 24,59) 9 Und Gott erschien Jakob abermals, nachdem er aus Paddan-Aram gekommen war, und segnete ihn 10 und sprach zu ihm: Du heißt Jakob; aber du sollst nicht mehr Jakob heißen, sondern Israel sollst du heißen. Und so nannte er ihn Israel. (Gen 32,29) 11 Und Gott sprach zu ihm: Ich bin der allmächtige Gott; sei fruchtbar und mehre dich! Ein Volk und eine Menge von Völkern sollen von dir kommen, und Könige sollen aus deinen Lenden hervorgehen, (Gen 17,1; Gen 17,6; Gen 28,3) 12 und das Land, das ich Abraham und Isaak gegeben habe, will ich dir geben und will’s deinem Geschlecht nach dir geben. 13 Und Gott fuhr auf von ihm an der Stätte, da er mit ihm geredet hatte. 14 Jakob aber richtete ein steinernes Mal auf an der Stätte, da er mit ihm geredet hatte, und goss Trankopfer darauf und begoss es mit Öl. (Gen 28,18) 15 Und Jakob nannte die Stätte, da Gott mit ihm geredet hatte, Bethel.

Benjamins Geburt und Rahels Tod

16 Und sie brachen auf von Bethel. Und als es noch eine Strecke Weges war bis Efrata, da gebar Rahel. Und es kam sie hart an über der Geburt. 17 Da ihr aber die Geburt so schwer wurde, sprach die Hebamme zu ihr: Fürchte dich nicht, denn auch diesmal wirst du einen Sohn haben. (Gen 30,24) 18 Als ihr aber das Leben entwich und sie sterben musste, nannte sie ihn Ben-Oni, aber sein Vater nannte ihn Ben-Jamin^[1]. 19 So starb Rahel und wurde begraben an dem Wege nach Efrata, das nun Bethlehem heißt. (Gen 48,7; 1Sam 10,2; Ger 31,15; Mi 5,1; Mat 2,18)

20 Und Jakob richtete einen Stein auf über ihrem Grab; das ist das Grabmal Rahels bis auf diesen Tag. 21 Und Israel zog weiter und schlug sein Zelt auf jenseits von Migdal-Eder.

Jakobs Söhne

22 Und es begab sich, als Israel im Lande wohnte, ging Ruben hin und schlief bei Bilha, seines Vaters Nebenfrau. Und das kam vor Israel. Es hatte aber Jakob zwölf Söhne. (Gen 49,4; 1Cr 2,1) 23 Die Söhne Leas waren diese: Ruben, der erstgeborene Sohn Jakobs, Simeon, Levi, Juda, Issachar und Sebulon. 24 Die Söhne Rahels waren: Josef und Benjamin. 25 Die Söhne Bilhas, Rahels Magd: Dan und Naftali. 26 Die Söhne Silpas, Leas Magd: Gad und Asser. Das sind die Söhne Jakobs, die ihm geboren sind in Paddan-Aram.

Jakobs Heimkehr. Isaaks Tod

27 Und Jakob kam zu seinem Vater Isaak nach Mamre, nach Kirjat-Arba, das ist Hebron, wo Abraham und Isaak als Fremdlinge gelebt hatten. 28 Und Isaak wurde hundertachtzig Jahre alt, 29 verschied und starb und wurde versammelt zu seinen Vätern, alt und lebenssatt. Und seine Söhne Esau und Jakob begruben ihn.

Jacob vuelve a Betel

1 Dios le dijo a Jacob: «Ponte en marcha, y vete a vivir a Betel. Erige allí un altar al Dios que se te apareció cuando escapabas de tu hermano Esaú.» 2 Entonces Jacob dijo a su familia y a quienes lo acompañaban: «Desháganse de todos los dioses extraños que tengan con ustedes, purifíquense y cámbiense de ropa. 3 Vámonos a Betel. Allí construiré un altar al Dios que me socorrió cuando estaba yo en peligro, y que me ha acompañado en mi camino.» 4 Así que le entregaron a Jacob todos los dioses extraños que tenían, junto con los aretes que llevaban en las orejas, y Jacob los enterró a la sombra de la encina que estaba cerca de Siquén. 5 Cuando partieron, nadie persiguió a la familia de Jacob, porque un terror divino se apoderó de las ciudades vecinas. 6 Fue así como Jacob y quienes lo acompañaban llegaron a Luz, es decir, Betel, en la tierra de Canaán. 7 Erigió un altar y llamó a ese lugar El Betel,^[1] porque allí se le había revelado Dios cuando escapaba de su hermano Esaú. 8 Por esos días murió Débora, la nodriza de Rebeca, y la sepultaron a la sombra de la encina que se encuentra cerca de Betel. Por eso Jacob llamó a ese lugar Elón Bacut.^[2] 9 Cuando Jacob regresó de Padán Aram^[3], Dios se le apareció otra vez y lo bendijo 10 con estas palabras: «Tu nombre es Jacob,^[4] pero ya no te llamarás así. De aquí en adelante te llamarás Israel.»Y, en efecto, ese fue el nombre que le puso. 11 Luego Dios añadió: «Yo soy el Dios Todopoderoso. Sé fecundo y multiplícate. De ti nacerá una nación y una comunidad de naciones, y habrá reyes entre tus vástagos. 12 La tierra que les di a Abraham y a Isaac te la doy a ti, y también a tus descendientes.» 13 Y Dios se alejó del lugar donde había hablado con Jacob. 14 Jacob erigió una estela de piedra en el lugar donde Dios le había hablado. Vertió sobre ella una libación, y la ungió con aceite, 15 y al lugar donde Dios le había hablado lo llamó Betel.^[5]

Muerte de Raquel y de Isaac

16 Después partieron de Betel. Cuando todavía estaban lejos de Efrata, Raquel dio a luz, pero tuvo un parto muy difícil. 17 En el momento más difícil del parto, la partera le dijo: «¡No temas; estás por tener otro varón!» 18 No obstante, ella se estaba muriendo, y en sus últimos suspiros alcanzó a llamar a su hijo Benoní,^[6] pero Jacob, su padre, le puso por nombre Benjamín. 19 Así murió Raquel, y la sepultaron en el camino que va hacia Efrata, que es Belén. 20 Sobre la tumba Jacob erigió una estela, que hasta el día de hoy señala el lugar donde Raquel fue sepultada. 21 Israel siguió su camino y acampó más allá de Migdal Edar. 22 Mientras vivía en esa región, Rubén fue y se acostó con Bilhá, la concubina de su padre. Cuando Israel se enteró de esto, se enojó muchísimo.^[7] Jacob tuvo doce hijos: 23 Los hijos de Lea fueron Rubén, que era el primogénito de Jacob, Simeón, Leví, Judá, Isacar y Zabulón. 24 Los hijos de Raquel fueron José y Benjamín. 25 Los hijos de Bilhá, la esclava de Raquel, fueron Dan y Neftalí. 26 Los hijos de Zilpá, la esclava de Lea, fueron Gad y Aser. Éstos fueron los hijos que tuvo Jacob en Padán Aram. 27 Jacob volvió a la casa de su padre Isaac en Mamré, cerca de Quiriat Arbá, es decir, Hebrón, donde también habían vivido Abraham e Isaac. 28 Isaac tenía ciento ochenta años 29 cuando se reunió con sus antepasados. Era ya muy anciano cuando murió, y lo sepultaron sus hijos Esaú y Jacob.
