Rapimento di Dina. I Sichemiti massacrati da Simeone e Levi

1 Dina, la figlia che Lea aveva partorita a Giacobbe, uscì per vedere le ragazze del paese. 2 Sichem, figlio di Camor l’Ivveo, principe del paese, la vide, la rapì e si unì a lei violentandola. 3 Poi egli rimase affezionato a Dina, figlia di Giacobbe; amò la giovane e parlò al cuore di lei. 4 E disse a Camor suo padre: «Dammi questa ragazza in moglie». 5 Or Giacobbe udì che quegli aveva disonorato sua figlia Dina; e siccome i suoi figli erano ai campi con il suo bestiame, Giacobbe tacque finché non furono tornati. 6 Intanto Camor, padre di Sichem, si recò da Giacobbe per parlargli. 7 I figli di Giacobbe, come ebbero udito il fatto, tornarono dai campi; questi uomini furono addolorati e fortemente adirati perché costui aveva commesso un’infamia in Israele, unendosi alla figlia di Giacobbe: cosa che non era da farsi. 8 Camor parlò loro, dicendo: «Mio figlio Sichem si è innamorato di vostra figlia; vi prego, dategliela per moglie 9 e imparentatevi con noi; dateci le vostre figlie e prendete per voi le figlie nostre. 10 Abiterete con noi e il paese sarà a vostra disposizione; fissate qui la vostra dimora, trafficate e acquistatevi delle proprietà». 11 Allora Sichem disse al padre e ai fratelli di Dina: «Possa io trovare grazia agli occhi vostri e vi darò quello che mi direte. 12 Imponetemi pure una gran dote e molti doni; io ve li darò come mi direte, ma datemi la ragazza in moglie». 13 I figli di Giacobbe risposero a Sichem e a suo padre Camor, ma parlarono loro con astuzia, perché quegli aveva disonorato Dina, loro sorella. 14 Dissero loro: «Questo non possiamo farlo; non possiamo dare nostra sorella a uno che non è circonciso; perché ciò sarebbe per noi un disonore. 15 Acconsentiremo alla vostra richiesta soltanto a questa condizione: se sarete come siamo noi, circoncidendo ogni maschio tra di voi. 16 Allora vi daremo le nostre figlie e noi ci prenderemo le figlie vostre, abiteremo con voi e diventeremo un solo popolo. 17 Ma se non volete ascoltarci e non volete farvi circoncidere, noi prenderemo la nostra figlia e ce ne andremo». 18 Le loro parole piacquero a Camor, e a Sichem, figlio di Camor. 19 Il giovane non indugiò a fare la cosa, perché amava la figlia di Giacobbe; egli era l’uomo più onorato in tutta la casa di suo padre. 20 Camor e suo figlio Sichem giunsero alla porta della loro città dicendo: 21 «Questa è gente pacifica in mezzo a noi. Rimanga pure nel paese e vi traffichi, perché esso è abbastanza ampio per loro. Noi prenderemo le loro figlie per mogli e daremo loro le nostre. 22 Ma questa gente acconsentirà ad abitare con noi per formare un solo popolo, a questa condizione: che ogni nostro maschio sia circonciso, come sono circoncisi loro. 23 I loro armenti, le loro ricchezze e tutto il loro bestiame non saranno forse nostri? Acconsentiamo alla loro richiesta ed essi abiteranno con noi». 24 Tutti quelli che erano venuti alla porta della città diedero ascolto a Camor e a suo figlio Sichem; ogni maschio si fece circoncidere, ognuno di quelli che erano venuti alla porta della città. 25 Ma il terzo giorno, mentre quelli erano sofferenti, due dei figli di Giacobbe, Simeone e Levi, fratelli di Dina, presero ciascuno la propria spada, assalirono la città che si riteneva sicura, e uccisero tutti i maschi. 26 Passarono a fil di spada anche Camor e suo figlio Sichem, presero Dina dalla casa di Sichem e uscirono. 27 I figli di Giacobbe si gettarono sugli uccisi e saccheggiarono la città, perché la loro sorella era stata disonorata; 28 presero le loro greggi, i loro armenti, i loro asini, quanto era nella città e nei campi. 29 Portarono via come bottino tutte le loro ricchezze, tutti i loro bambini, le loro mogli e tutto quello che si trovava nelle case. 30 Allora Giacobbe disse a Simeone e a Levi: «Voi mi causate grande angoscia, mettendomi in cattiva luce davanti agli abitanti del paese, ai Cananei e ai Ferezei. Io non ho che pochi uomini; essi si raduneranno contro di me, mi piomberanno addosso e sarò distrutto io con la mia casa». 31 Ed essi risposero: «Nostra sorella dovrebbe forse essere trattata come una prostituta?»

Die Schandtat an Dina und das Blutbad zu Sichem

1 Dina aber, Leas Tochter, die sie Jakob geboren hatte, ging aus, die Töchter des Landes zu sehen. (Gen 30,21) 2 Als Sichem sie sah, der Sohn des Hiwiters Hamor, der des Landes Herr war, nahm er sie, legte sich zu ihr und tat ihr Gewalt an. (Giudic 9,28) 3 Und sein Herz hing an ihr, und er hatte das Mädchen lieb und redete freundlich mit ihr. 4 Und Sichem sprach zu seinem Vater Hamor: Nimm mir das Mädchen zur Frau. 5 Und Jakob erfuhr, dass seine Tochter Dina geschändet war; und seine Söhne waren mit dem Vieh auf dem Felde, und Jakob schwieg, bis sie kamen. 6 Da ging Hamor, Sichems Vater, hinaus zu Jakob, um mit ihm zu reden. 7 Indessen kamen die Söhne Jakobs vom Felde. Und als sie es hörten, verdross es die Männer, und sie wurden sehr zornig, dass er eine Schandtat in Israel begangen und bei Jakobs Tochter gelegen hatte. Denn solches durfte nicht geschehen. 8 Da redete Hamor mit ihnen und sprach: Das Herz meines Sohnes Sichem sehnt sich nach eurer Tochter; gebt sie ihm doch zur Frau. 9 Verschwägert euch mit uns; gebt uns eure Töchter und nehmt ihr unsere Töchter 10 und wohnt bei uns. Das Land soll euch offen sein; bleibt und treibt Handel und werdet ansässig. 11 Und Sichem sprach zu ihrem Vater und zu ihren Brüdern: Lasst mich Gnade bei euch finden; was ihr mir sagt, das will ich geben. 12 Fordert nur getrost von mir Brautpreis und Geschenk, ich will’s geben, wie ihr’s verlangt; gebt mir nur das Mädchen zur Frau. (Eso 22,15) 13 Da antworteten Jakobs Söhne dem Sichem und seinem Vater Hamor hinterhältig, weil ihre Schwester Dina geschändet war, 14 und sprachen zu ihnen: Wir können das nicht tun, dass wir unsere Schwester einem unbeschnittenen Mann geben; denn das wäre uns eine Schande. 15 Doch dann wollen wir euch zu Willen sein, wenn ihr uns gleich werdet und alles, was männlich unter euch ist, beschnitten wird. (Gen 17,10) 16 Dann wollen wir unsere Töchter euch geben und eure Töchter uns nehmen und bei euch wohnen und ein Volk sein. 17 Wenn ihr aber nicht einwilligen wollt, euch beschneiden zu lassen, so wollen wir unsere Tochter nehmen und davonziehen. (De 7,3) 18 Die Rede gefiel Hamor und seinem Sohn gut. 19 Und der Jüngling zögerte nicht, dies zu tun; denn er hatte großes Gefallen an der Tochter Jakobs. Und er war mehr angesehen als alle in seines Vaters Hause. 20 Da kamen sie nun, Hamor und sein Sohn Sichem, zum Tor ihrer Stadt und redeten mit den Bürgern der Stadt und sprachen: 21 Diese Leute sind friedsam bei uns; lasst sie im Lande wohnen und Handel treiben; das Land ist weit genug für sie. Wir wollen uns ihre Töchter zu Frauen nehmen und ihnen unsere Töchter geben. 22 Aber nur dann wollen sie uns zu Willen sein, dass sie bei uns wohnen und ein Volk mit uns werden, wenn sich alles, was männlich unter uns ist, beschneiden lässt, gleichwie sie beschnitten sind. 23 Ihr Vieh und ihre Güter und alles, was sie haben, wird es nicht unser sein? So wollen wir ihnen nur zu Willen sein, damit sie bei uns wohnen. 24 Und sie gehorchten dem Hamor und Sichem, seinem Sohn, alle, die zum Tor seiner Stadt aus und ein gingen, und alles, was männlich war, ließ sich beschneiden, das zu seiner Stadt aus und ein ging. 25 Aber am dritten Tage, als sie Schmerzen hatten, nahmen die zwei Söhne Jakobs Simeon und Levi, die Brüder der Dina, ein jeder sein Schwert und überfielen die friedliche Stadt und erschlugen alles, was männlich war, (Gen 49,5) 26 und erschlugen auch Hamor und seinen Sohn Sichem mit der Schärfe des Schwerts und nahmen ihre Schwester Dina aus dem Hause Sichems und gingen davon. 27 Da kamen die Söhne Jakobs über die Erschlagenen und plünderten die Stadt, weil man ihre Schwester geschändet hatte, 28 und nahmen ihre Schafe, Rinder, Esel und was in der Stadt und auf dem Felde war 29 und alle ihre Habe; alle Kinder und Frauen führten sie gefangen hinweg und plünderten alles, was in den Häusern war. 30 Aber Jakob sprach zu Simeon und Levi: Ihr habt mich ins Unglück gestürzt und stinkend gemacht vor den Bewohnern dieses Landes, den Kanaanitern und Perisitern, und ich habe nur wenige Leute. Wenn sie sich nun gegen mich versammeln, werden sie mich erschlagen. So werde ich vertilgt samt meinem Hause. 31 Sie antworteten aber: Durfte er denn an unserer Schwester wie an einer Hure handeln?

1 And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land. 2 And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her. 3 And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel. 4 And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife. 5 And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter: now his sons were with his cattle in the field: and Jacob held his peace until they were come. 6 And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with him. 7 And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it : and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob' daughter; which thing ought not to be done. 8 And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife. 9 And make ye marriages with us, and give your daughters unto us, and take our daughters unto you. 10 And ye shall dwell with us: and the land shall be before you; dwell and trade ye therein, and get you possessions therein. 11 And Shechem said unto her father and unto her brethren, Let me find grace in your eyes, and what ye shall say unto me I will give. 12 Ask me never so much dowry and gift, and I will give according as ye shall say unto me: but give me the damsel to wife. 13 And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and said, because he had defiled Dinah their sister: 14 And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us: 15 But in this will we consent unto you: If ye will be as we be , that every male of you be circumcised; 16 Then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people. 17 But if ye will not hearken unto us, to be circumcised; then will we take our daughter, and we will be gone. 18 And their words pleased Hamor, and Shechem Hamor' son. 19 And the young man deferred not to do the thing, because he had delight in Jacob' daughter: and he was more honourable than all the house of his father. 20 And Hamor and Shechem his son came unto the gate of their city, and communed with the men of their city, saying, 21 These men are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade therein; for the land, behold, it is large enough for them; let us take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give them our daughters. 22 Only herein will the men consent unto us for to dwell with us, to be one people, if every male among us be circumcised, as they are circumcised. 23 Shall not their cattle and their substance and every beast of theirs be ours? only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with us. 24 And unto Hamor and unto Shechem his son hearkened all that went out of the gate of his city; and every male was circumcised, all that went out of the gate of his city. 25 And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah' brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males. 26 And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem' house, and went out. 27 The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because they had defiled their sister. 28 They took their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and that which was in the city, and that which was in the field, 29 And all their wealth, and all their little ones, and their wives took they captive, and spoiled even all that was in the house. 30 And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and I being few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house. 31 And they said, Should he deal with our sister as with an harlot?

1 En cierta ocasión Dina, la hija que Jacob tuvo con Lea, salió a visitar a las mujeres del lugar. 2 Cuando la vio Siquén, que era hijo de Jamor el heveo, jefe del lugar, la agarró por la fuerza, se acostó con ella y la violó. 3 Pero luego se enamoró de ella y trató de ganarse su afecto. 4 Entonces le dijo a su padre: «Consígueme a esta muchacha para que sea mi esposa.» 5 Jacob se enteró de que Siquén había violado a su hija Dina pero, como sus hijos estaban en el campo cuidando el ganado, no dijo nada hasta que ellos regresaron. 6 Mientras tanto Jamor, el padre de Siquén, salió en busca de Jacob para hablar con él. 7 Cuando los hijos de Jacob volvieron del campo y se enteraron de lo sucedido, quedaron muy dolidos y, a la vez, llenos de ira. Siquén había cometido una ofensa muy grande contra Israel al abusar de su hija; era algo que nunca debió haber hecho. 8 Pero Jamor les dijo: —Mi hijo Siquén está enamorado de la hermana de ustedes. Por favor, permitan que ella se case con él. 9 Háganse parientes nuestros. Intercambiemos nuestras hijas en casamiento. 10 Así ustedes podrán vivir entre nosotros y el país quedará a su disposición para que lo habiten, hagan negocios^[1] y adquieran terrenos. 11 Siquén, por su parte, les dijo al padre y a los hermanos de Dina: —Si ustedes me hallan digno de su favor, yo les daré lo que me pidan. 12 Pueden pedirme cuanta dote quieran, y exigirme muchos regalos, pero permitan que la muchacha se case conmigo. 13 Sin embargo, por el hecho de que su hermana Dina había sido deshonrada, los hijos de Jacob les respondieron con engaños a Siquén y a su padre Jamor. 14 —Nosotros no podemos hacer algo así —les explicaron—. Sería una vergüenza para todos nosotros entregarle nuestra hermana a un hombre que no está circuncidado. 15 Sólo aceptaremos con esta condición: que todos los varones entre ustedes se circunciden para que sean como nosotros. 16 Entonces sí intercambiaremos nuestras hijas con las de ustedes en casamiento, y viviremos entre ustedes y formaremos un solo pueblo. 17 Pero si no aceptan nuestra condición de circuncidarse, nos llevaremos a nuestra hermana^[2] y nos iremos de aquí. 18 Jamor y Siquén estuvieron de acuerdo con la propuesta; 19 y tan enamorado estaba Siquén de la hija de Jacob que no demoró en circuncidarse. Como Siquén era el hombre más respetado en la familia, 20 su padre Jamor lo acompañó hasta la entrada de la ciudad, y allí hablaron con todos sus conciudadanos. Les dijeron: 21 —Estos hombres se han portado como amigos. Dejen que se establezcan en nuestro país, y que lleven a cabo sus negocios aquí, ya que hay suficiente espacio para ellos. Además, nosotros nos podremos casar con sus hijas, y ellos con las nuestras. 22 Pero ellos aceptan quedarse entre nosotros y formar un solo pueblo, con una sola condición: que todos nuestros varones se circunciden, como lo hacen ellos. 23 Aceptemos su condición, para que se queden a vivir entre nosotros. De esta manera su ganado, sus propiedades y todos sus animales serán nuestros. 24 Todos los que se reunían a la entrada de la ciudad estuvieron de acuerdo con Jamor y con su hijo Siquén, y fue así como todos los varones fueron circuncidados. 25 Al tercer día, cuando los varones todavía estaban muy adoloridos, dos de los hijos de Jacob, Simeón y Leví, hermanos de Dina, empuñaron cada uno su espada y fueron a la ciudad, donde los varones se encontraban desprevenidos, y los mataron a todos. 26 También mataron a filo de espada a Jamor y a su hijo Siquén, sacaron a Dina de la casa de Siquén y se retiraron. 27 Luego los otros hijos de Jacob llegaron y, pasando sobre los cadáveres, saquearon la ciudad en venganza por la deshonra que había sufrido su hermana. 28 Se apropiaron de sus ovejas, ganado y asnos, y de todo lo que había en la ciudad y en el campo. 29 Se llevaron todos sus bienes, y sus hijos y mujeres, y saquearon todo lo que encontraron en las casas. 30 Entonces Jacob les dijo a Simeón y Leví: —Me han provocado un problema muy serio. De ahora en adelante los cananeos y ferezeos, habitantes de este lugar, me van a odiar. Si ellos se unen contra mí y me atacan, me matarán a mí y a toda mi familia, pues cuento con muy pocos hombres. 31 Pero ellos replicaron: —¿Acaso podíamos dejar que él tratara a nuestra hermana como a una prostituta?
