Nascita d’Isacco

1 Il Signore visitò Sara come aveva detto; e il Signore fece a Sara come aveva annunciato. 2 Sara concepì e partorì un figlio ad Abraamo, quando egli era vecchio, al tempo che Dio gli aveva fissato. 3 Abraamo chiamò Isacco il figlio che gli era nato, che Sara gli aveva partorito. 4 Abraamo circoncise suo figlio Isacco all’età di otto giorni, come Dio gli aveva comandato. 5 Abraamo aveva cent’anni quando gli nacque suo figlio Isacco. 6 Sara disse: «Dio mi ha dato di che ridere; chiunque l’udrà riderà con me». 7 E aggiunse: «Chi avrebbe mai detto ad Abraamo che Sara avrebbe allattato figli? Eppure io gli ho partorito un figlio nella sua vecchiaia». 8 Il bambino dunque crebbe e fu divezzato. Nel giorno che Isacco fu divezzato, Abraamo fece un grande banchetto.

Agar nel deserto

9 Sara vide che il figlio partorito ad Abraamo da Agar, l’Egiziana, rideva; 10 allora disse ad Abraamo: «Caccia via questa serva e suo figlio; perché il figlio di questa serva non dev’essere erede con mio figlio, con Isacco». 11 La cosa dispiacque moltissimo ad Abraamo a motivo di suo figlio. 12 Ma Dio disse ad Abraamo: «Non addolorarti per il ragazzo, né per la tua serva; acconsenti a tutto quello che Sara ti dirà, perché da Isacco uscirà la discendenza che porterà il tuo nome. 13 Anche del figlio di questa serva io farò una nazione, perché appartiene alla tua discendenza». 14 Abraamo si alzò la mattina di buon’ora, prese del pane e un otre d’acqua e li diede ad Agar, mettendoglieli sulle spalle con il bambino, e la mandò via. Lei se ne andò e vagava per il deserto di Beer-Sceba. 15 Quando l’acqua dell’otre finì, lei mise il bambino sotto un arboscello. 16 E andò a sedersi di fronte, a distanza di un tiro d’arco, perché diceva: «Che io non veda morire il bambino!» E seduta così di fronte, alzò la voce e pianse. 17 Dio udì la voce del ragazzo e l’angelo di Dio chiamò Agar dal cielo e le disse: «Che hai, Agar? Non temere, perché Dio ha udito la voce del ragazzo là dov’è. 18 Àlzati, prendi il ragazzo e tienilo per mano, perché io farò di lui una grande nazione». 19 Dio le aprì gli occhi ed ella vide un pozzo d’acqua e andò, riempì d’acqua l’otre e diede da bere al ragazzo. 20 Dio fu con il ragazzo; egli crebbe, abitò nel deserto e divenne un tiratore d’arco. 21 Egli si stabilì nel deserto di Paran e sua madre gli prese per moglie una donna del paese d’Egitto.

Abraamo a Beer-Sceba

22 In quel tempo Abimelec, accompagnato da Picol, capo del suo esercito, parlò ad Abraamo, dicendo: «Dio è con te in tutto quello che fai. 23 Giurami dunque qui, nel nome di Dio, che tu non ingannerai me, né i miei figli, né i miei nipoti; ma che userai verso di me e verso il paese dove hai abitato come straniero la stessa benevolenza che io ho usata verso di te». 24 Abraamo rispose: «Lo giuro». 25 Poi Abraamo fece delle rimostranze ad Abimelec a causa di un pozzo d’acqua di cui i servi di Abimelec si erano impadroniti con la forza. 26 Abimelec disse: «Io non so chi abbia fatto questo; tu stesso non me l’hai fatto sapere e io non ne ho sentito parlare che oggi». 27 Abraamo prese pecore e buoi e li diede ad Abimelec; e i due fecero alleanza. 28 Poi Abraamo mise da parte sette agnelle del gregge. 29 E Abimelec disse ad Abraamo: «Che cosa significano queste sette agnelle che tu hai messe da parte?» 30 Abraamo rispose: «Tu accetterai dalla mia mano queste sette agnelle, perché ciò mi serva di testimonianza che io ho scavato questo pozzo». 31 Per questo egli chiamò quel luogo Beer-Sceba^[1], perché entrambi vi avevano fatto giuramento. 32 Così fecero alleanza a Beer-Sceba. Poi Abimelec, con Picol, capo del suo esercito, si alzò e se ne tornarono nel paese dei Filistei. 33 E Abraamo piantò un tamarindo a Beer-Sceba e lì invocò il nome del Signore, Dio dell’eternità. 34 Abraamo abitò molto tempo come straniero nel paese dei Filistei.

Isaaks Geburt

1 Und der HERR nahm sich Saras an, wie er gesagt hatte, und tat an ihr, wie er geredet hatte. (Gen 18,10) 2 Und Sara ward schwanger und gebar dem Abraham in seinem Alter einen Sohn um die Zeit, von der Gott zu ihm geredet hatte. (Eb 11,11) 3 Und Abraham nannte seinen Sohn, der ihm geboren war, Isaak, den ihm Sara gebar. (Gen 17,19) 4 Und Abraham beschnitt seinen Sohn Isaak am achten Tage, wie ihm Gott geboten hatte. (Gen 17,11; At 7,8) 5 Hundert Jahre war Abraham alt, als ihm sein Sohn Isaak geboren wurde. (Gen 17,17) 6 Und Sara sprach: Gott hat mir ein Lachen^[1] zugerichtet; denn wer es hören wird, der wird über mich lachen. (Gen 18,12) 7 Und sie sprach: Wer hätte wohl von Abraham gesagt, dass Sara Kinder stille! Und doch habe ich ihm einen Sohn geboren in seinem Alter.

Ismael und seine Mutter werden vertrieben

8 Und das Kind wuchs heran und wurde entwöhnt. Und Abraham machte ein großes Mahl am Tage, da Isaak entwöhnt wurde. 9 Und Sara sah den Sohn Hagars, der Ägypterin, den sie Abraham geboren hatte, dass er lachte. (Gen 6,1; Gen 18,12) 10 Da sprach sie zu Abraham: Vertreibe diese Magd mit ihrem Sohn; denn der Sohn dieser Magd soll nicht erben mit meinem Sohn Isaak. (Ga 4,30) 11 Das Wort missfiel Abraham sehr um seines Sohnes willen. 12 Aber Gott sprach zu ihm: Lass es dir nicht missfallen wegen des Knaben und der Magd. Alles, was Sara dir gesagt hat, dem gehorche; denn nach Isaak soll dein Geschlecht genannt werden. (Gen 17,21; Ro 9,7; Eb 11,18) 13 Aber auch den Sohn der Magd will ich zu einem Volk machen, weil er dein Sohn ist. (Gen 17,20) 14 Da stand Abraham früh am Morgen auf und nahm Brot und einen Schlauch mit Wasser und legte es Hagar auf ihre Schulter, dazu den Knaben, und schickte sie fort. Da zog sie hin und irrte in der Wüste umher bei Beerscheba. 15 Als nun das Wasser in dem Schlauch ausgegangen war, warf sie den Knaben unter einen Strauch 16 und ging hin und setzte sich gegenüber von ferne, einen Bogenschuss weit; denn sie sprach: Ich kann nicht ansehen des Knaben Sterben. Und sie setzte sich gegenüber und erhob ihre Stimme und weinte. (Is 49,15) 17 Da erhörte Gott die Stimme des Knaben. Und der Engel Gottes rief Hagar vom Himmel her und sprach zu ihr: Was ist dir, Hagar? Fürchte dich nicht; denn Gott hat gehört die Stimme des Knaben dort, wo er liegt. 18 Steh auf, nimm den Knaben und führe ihn an deiner Hand; denn ich will ihn zum großen Volk machen. 19 Und Gott tat ihr die Augen auf, dass sie einen Wasserbrunnen sah. Da ging sie hin und füllte den Schlauch mit Wasser und gab dem Knaben zu trinken. (2Re 6,17; 2Re 6,20) 20 Und Gott war mit dem Knaben. Der wuchs heran und wohnte in der Wüste und wurde ein Bogenschütze. 21 Und er wohnte in der Wüste Paran und seine Mutter nahm ihm eine Frau aus Ägyptenland. (Gen 16,3)

Abrahams Bund mit Abimelech

22 Zu der Zeit redete Abimelech zusammen mit Pichol, seinem Feldhauptmann, zu Abraham und sprach: Gott ist mit dir in allem, was du tust. (Gen 26,15) 23 So schwöre mir nun bei Gott, dass du mir und meinen Söhnen und meinen Enkeln keine Untreue erweisen wollest, sondern die Barmherzigkeit, die ich an dir getan habe, an mir auch tust und an dem Lande, darin du ein Fremdling bist. (Gen 20,15) 24 Da sprach Abraham: Ich schwöre. 25 Und Abraham stellte Abimelech zur Rede um des Wasserbrunnens willen, den Abimelechs Knechte mit Gewalt genommen hatten. 26 Da antwortete Abimelech: Ich habe es nicht gewusst, wer das getan hat; weder hast du mir’s angesagt noch hab ich’s gehört bis heute. 27 Da nahm Abraham Schafe und Rinder und gab sie Abimelech, und die beiden schlossen einen Bund miteinander. 28 Und Abraham stellte sieben Lämmer beiseite. 29 Da sprach Abimelech zu Abraham: Was sollen die sieben Lämmer, die du beiseitegestellt hast? 30 Er antwortete: Sieben Lämmer sollst du von meiner Hand nehmen, damit sie für mich ein Zeugnis seien, dass ich diesen Brunnen gegraben habe. 31 Daher heißt die Stätte Beerscheba, weil sie beide miteinander da geschworen haben. 32 Und so schlossen sie den Bund zu Beerscheba. Da machten sich auf Abimelech und Pichol, sein Feldhauptmann, und zogen wieder in der Philister Land. 33 Abraham aber pflanzte einen Tamariskenbaum in Beerscheba und rief dort den Namen des HERRN, des ewigen Gottes, an. (Gen 12,8; Ro 16,26) 34 Und er war ein Fremdling in der Philister Lande eine lange Zeit.

1 And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken. 2 For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. 3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac. 4 And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him. 5 And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him. 6 And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me. 7 And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age. 8 And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned. 9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking. 10 Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac. 11 And the thing was very grievous in Abraham' sight because of his son. 12 And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called. 13 And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed. 14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba. 15 And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs. 16 And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him , and lift up her voice, and wept. 17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is . 18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation. 19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink. 20 And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer. 21 And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt. 22 And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech and Phichol the chief captain of his host spake unto Abraham, saying, God is with thee in all that thou doest: 23 Now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son' son: but according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned. 24 And Abraham said, I will swear. 25 And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a well of water, which Abimelech' servants had violently taken away. 26 And Abimelech said, I wot not who hath done this thing: neither didst thou tell me, neither yet heard I of it , but to day. 27 And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech; and both of them made a covenant. 28 And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves. 29 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What mean these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set by themselves? 30 And he said, For these seven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that they may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well. 31 Wherefore he called that place Beersheba; because there they sware both of them. 32 Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba: then Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines. 33 And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God. 34 And Abraham sojourned in the Philistines'land many days.

Nacimiento de Isaac

Esto sucedió en el tiempo anunciado por Dios. 3 Al hijo que Sara le dio, Abraham le puso por nombre Isaac.^[1] 4 Cuando su hijo Isaac cumplió ocho días de nacido, Abraham lo circuncidó, tal como Dios se lo había ordenado. 5 Abraham tenía ya cien años cuando nació su hijo Isaac. 6 Sara dijo entonces: «Dios me ha hecho reír, y todos los que se enteren de que he tenido un hijo, se reirán conmigo. 7 ¿Quién le hubiera dicho a Abraham que Sara amamantaría hijos? Sin embargo, le he dado un hijo en su vejez.»

Expulsión de Agar e Ismael

8 El niño Isaac creció y fue destetado. Ese mismo día, Abraham hizo un gran banquete. 9 Pero Sara se dio cuenta de que el hijo que Agar la egipcia le había dado a Abraham se burlaba de su hijo Isaac.^[2] 10 Por eso le dijo a Abraham: —¡Echa de aquí a esa esclava y a su hijo! El hijo de esa esclava jamás tendrá parte en la herencia con mi hijo Isaac. 11 Este asunto angustió mucho a Abraham porque se trataba de su propio hijo. 12 Pero Dios le dijo a Abraham: «No te angusties por el muchacho ni por la esclava. Hazle caso a Sara, porque tu descendencia se establecerá por medio de Isaac. 13 Pero también del hijo de la esclava haré una gran nación, porque es hijo tuyo.» 14 Al día siguiente, Abraham se levantó de madrugada, tomó un pan y un odre de agua, y se los dio a Agar, poniéndoselos sobre el hombro. Luego le entregó a su hijo y la despidió. Agar partió y anduvo errante por el desierto de Berseba. 15 Cuando se acabó el agua del odre, puso al niño debajo de un arbusto 16 y fue a sentarse sola a cierta distancia,^[3] pues pensaba: «No quiero ver morir al niño.» En cuanto ella se sentó, comenzó a llorar desconsoladamente. 17 Cuando Dios oyó al niño sollozar, el ángel de Dios llamó a Agar desde el cielo y le dijo: «¿Qué te pasa, Agar? No temas, pues Dios ha escuchado los sollozos del niño. 18 Levántate y tómalo de la mano, que yo haré de él una gran nación.» 19 En ese momento Dios le abrió a Agar los ojos, y ella vio un pozo de agua. En seguida fue a llenar el odre y le dio de beber al niño. 20 Dios acompañó al niño, y éste fue creciendo; vivió en el desierto y se convirtió en un experto arquero; 21 habitó en el desierto de Parán y su madre lo casó con una egipcia.

Pacto entre Abraham y Abimélec

22 En aquel tiempo Abimélec, que estaba acompañado por Ficol, jefe de su ejército, le dijo a Abraham: —Dios está contigo en todo lo que haces. 23 Júrame ahora, por Dios mismo, que no me tratarás a mí con falsedad, ni tampoco a mis hijos ni a mis descendientes. Júrame que a mí y al país que te ha recibido como extranjero nos tratarás con la misma lealtad con que yo te he tratado. 24 —¡Lo juro! —respondió Abraham. 25 Luego Abraham se quejó ante Abimélec por causa de un pozo de agua del cual los siervos de Abimélec se habían apropiado. 26 Pero Abimélec dijo: —No sé quién pudo haberlo hecho. Me acabo de enterar, pues tú no me lo habías dicho. 27 Entonces Abraham llevó ovejas y vacas, y se las dio a Abimélec, y los dos hicieron un pacto. 28 Pero Abraham apartó siete corderas del rebaño, 29 por lo que Abimélec le preguntó: —¿Qué pasa? ¿Por qué has apartado estas siete corderas? 30 —Acepta estas siete corderas —le contestó Abraham—. Ellas servirán de prueba de que yo cavé este pozo. 31 Por eso a aquel lugar le dieron el nombre de Berseba,^[4]porque allí los dos hicieron un juramento. 32 Después de haber hecho el pacto en Berseba, Abimélec y Ficol, el jefe de su ejército, volvieron al país de los filisteos. 33 Abraham plantó un tamarisco en Berseba, y en ese lugar invocó el nombre del Señor, el Dios eterno. 34 Y se quedó en el país de los filisteos durante mucho tiempo.
