Ritorno in Canaan; Abramo e Lot si separano

1 Abramo dunque risalì dall’Egitto con sua moglie, con tutto quel che possedeva e con Lot, andando verso la regione meridionale. 2 Abramo era molto ricco di bestiame, d’argento e d’oro. 3 E continuò il suo viaggio dal meridione fino a Betel, al luogo dove da principio era stata la sua tenda, fra Betel e Ai, 4 al luogo dov’era l’altare che egli aveva fatto prima; e lì Abramo invocò il nome del Signore. 5 Ora Lot, che viaggiava con Abramo, aveva anch’egli pecore, buoi e tende. 6 Il paese non era sufficiente perché essi potessero abitarvi insieme, poiché il loro bestiame era numeroso ed essi non potevano stare insieme. 7 Scoppiò una lite fra i pastori del bestiame di Abramo e i pastori del bestiame di Lot. I Cananei e i Ferezei abitavano a quel tempo nel paese. 8 Allora Abramo disse a Lot: «Ti prego, non ci sia discordia tra me e te, né tra i miei pastori e i tuoi pastori, perché siamo fratelli! 9 Tutto il paese non sta forse davanti a te? Ti prego, sepàrati da me! Se tu vai a sinistra, io andrò a destra; se tu vai a destra, io andrò a sinistra». 10 Lot alzò gli occhi e vide l’intera pianura del Giordano. Prima che il Signore avesse distrutto Sodoma e Gomorra, essa era tutta irrigata fino a Soar, come il giardino del Signore, come il paese d’Egitto. 11 Lot scelse per sé tutta la pianura del Giordano e partì andando verso oriente. Così si separarono l’uno dall’altro. 12 Abramo si stabilì nel paese di Canaan, Lot abitò nelle città della pianura e andò piantando le sue tende fino a Sodoma. 13 Gli abitanti di Sodoma erano perversi e grandi peccatori contro il Signore.

Promesse ad Abramo

14 Il Signore disse ad Abramo, dopo che Lot si fu separato da lui: «Alza ora gli occhi e guarda, dal luogo dove sei, a settentrione, a meridione, a oriente, a occidente. 15 Tutto il paese che vedi lo darò a te e alla tua discendenza, per sempre. 16 E renderò la tua discendenza come la polvere della terra; in modo che, se qualcuno può contare la polvere della terra, potrà contare anche i tuoi discendenti. 17 Àlzati, percorri il paese quant’è lungo e quant’è largo, perché io lo darò a te». 18 Allora Abramo levò le sue tende e andò ad abitare alle querce di Mamre, che sono a Ebron, e qui costruì un altare al Signore.

Abram und Lot trennen sich

1 So zog Abram herauf aus Ägypten mit seiner Frau und mit allem, was er hatte, und Lot mit ihm ins Südland. 2 Abram aber war sehr reich an Vieh, Silber und Gold. 3 Und er zog immer weiter vom Südland bis nach Bethel, an die Stätte, wo zuerst sein Zelt war, zwischen Bethel und Ai, 4 eben an den Ort, wo er früher den Altar errichtet hatte. Dort rief er den Namen des HERRN an. (Gen 12,8) 5 Lot aber, der mit Abram zog, hatte auch Schafe und Rinder und Zelte. 6 Und das Land konnte es nicht ertragen, dass sie beieinander wohnten; denn ihre Habe war groß und sie konnten nicht beieinander wohnen. 7 Und es war immer Zank zwischen den Hirten von Abrams Vieh und den Hirten von Lots Vieh. Es wohnten auch zu der Zeit die Kanaaniter und Perisiter im Lande. 8 Da sprach Abram zu Lot: Es soll kein Zank sein zwischen mir und dir und zwischen meinen und deinen Hirten; denn wir sind Brüder. 9 Steht dir nicht alles Land offen? Trenne dich doch von mir! Willst du zur Linken, so will ich zur Rechten, oder willst du zur Rechten, so will ich zur Linken. 10 Da hob Lot seine Augen auf und sah die ganze Gegend am Jordan, dass sie wasserreich war. Denn bevor der HERR Sodom und Gomorra vernichtete, war sie bis nach Zoar hin wie der Garten des HERRN, gleichwie Ägyptenland. (Gen 2,8) 11 Da erwählte sich Lot die ganze Gegend am Jordan und zog nach Osten. Also trennte sich ein Bruder von dem andern, 12 sodass Abram wohnte im Lande Kanaan und Lot in den Städten jener Gegend. Und Lot zog mit seinen Zelten bis nach Sodom. 13 Aber die Leute zu Sodom waren böse und sündigten sehr wider den HERRN. (Gen 18,20; Gen 19,4)

Der Herr wiederholt seine Verheißung an Abram

14 Als nun Lot sich von Abram getrennt hatte, sprach der HERR zu Abram: Hebe deine Augen auf und sieh von der Stätte aus, wo du bist, nach Norden, nach Süden, nach Osten und nach Westen. 15 Denn all das Land, das du siehst, will ich dir geben und deinen Nachkommen ewiglich. (Gen 12,7) 16 Und ich will deine Nachkommen machen wie den Staub auf Erden. Kann ein Mensch den Staub auf Erden zählen, der wird auch deine Nachkommen zählen. (Gen 28,14; Nu 23,10; 1Re 4,20) 17 Darum mach dich auf und durchzieh das Land in die Länge und Breite, denn dir will ich’s geben. 18 Und Abram zog weiter mit seinem Zelt und kam und wohnte im Hain Mamre, der bei Hebron ist, und baute dort dem HERRN einen Altar. (Gen 14,13; Gen 14,24)

1 And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south. 2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. 3 And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai; 4 Unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD. 5 And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents. 6 And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together. 7 And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram' cattle and the herdmen of Lot' cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land. 8 And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren. 9 Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left. 10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. 11 Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other. 12 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom. 13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly. 14 And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: 15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. 16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered. 17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee. 18 Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.

Abram y Lot se separan

1 Abram salió de Egipto con su esposa, con Lot y con todos sus bienes, en dirección a la región del Néguev. 2 Abram se había hecho muy rico en ganado, plata y oro. 3 Desde el Néguev, Abram regresó por etapas hasta Betel, es decir, hasta el lugar donde había acampado al principio, entre Betel y Hai. 4 En ese lugar había erigido antes un altar, y allí invocó Abram el nombre del Señor. 5 También Lot, que iba acompañando a Abram, tenía rebaños, ganado y tiendas de campaña. 6 La región donde estaban no daba abasto para mantener a los dos, porque tenían demasiado como para vivir juntos. 7 Por eso comenzaron las fricciones entre los pastores de los rebaños de Abram y los que cuidaban los ganados de Lot. Además, los cananeos y los ferezeos también habitaban allí en aquel tiempo. 8 Así que Abram le dijo a Lot: «No debe haber pleitos entre nosotros, ni entre nuestros pastores, porque somos parientes. 9 Allí tienes toda la tierra a tu disposición. Por favor, aléjate de mí. Si te vas a la izquierda, yo me iré a la derecha, y si te vas a la derecha, yo me iré a la izquierda.» 10 Lot levantó la vista y observó que todo el valle del Jordán, hasta Zoar, era tierra de regadío, como el jardín del Señor o como la tierra de Egipto. Así era antes de que el Señor destruyera a Sodoma y a Gomorra. 11 Entonces Lot escogió para sí todo el valle del Jordán, y partió hacia el oriente. Fue así como Abram y Lot se separaron. 12 Abram se quedó a vivir en la tierra de Canaán, mientras que Lot se fue a vivir entre las ciudades del valle, estableciendo su campamento cerca de la ciudad de Sodoma. 13 Los habitantes de Sodoma eran malvados y cometían muy graves pecados contra el Señor. 14 Después de que Lot se separó de Abram, el Señor le dijo: «Abram, levanta la vista desde el lugar donde estás, y mira hacia el norte y hacia el sur, hacia el este y hacia el oeste. 15 Yo te daré a ti y a tu descendencia, para siempre, toda la tierra que abarca tu mirada. 16 Multiplicaré tu descendencia como el polvo de la tierra. Si alguien puede contar el polvo de la tierra, también podrá contar tus descendientes. 17 ¡Ve y recorre el país a lo largo y a lo ancho, porque a ti te lo daré!» 18 Entonces Abram levantó su campamento y se fue a vivir cerca de Hebrón, junto al encinar de Mamré. Allí erigió un altar al Señor.
