La torre di Babele

1 Tutta la terra parlava la stessa lingua e usava le stesse parole. 2 Dirigendosi verso l’Oriente, gli uomini capitarono in una pianura nel paese di Scinear, e là si stanziarono. 3 Si dissero l’un l’altro: «Venite, facciamo dei mattoni cotti con il fuoco^[1]!» Essi adoperarono mattoni anziché pietre, e bitume invece di calce. 4 Poi dissero: «Venite, costruiamoci una città e una torre la cui cima giunga fino al cielo; acquistiamoci fama, affinché non siamo dispersi sulla faccia di tutta la terra». 5 Il Signore discese per vedere la città e la torre che i figli degli uomini costruivano. 6 Il Signore disse: «Ecco, essi sono un solo popolo e hanno tutti una lingua sola; questo è il principio del loro lavoro; ora nulla impedirà loro di condurre a termine ciò che intendono fare. 7 Scendiamo dunque e confondiamo il loro linguaggio, perché l’uno non capisca la lingua dell’altro!» 8 Così il Signore li disperse di là su tutta la faccia della terra ed essi cessarono di costruire la città. 9 Perciò a questa fu dato il nome di Babel^[2], perché là il Signore confuse la lingua di tutta la terra e di là li disperse su tutta la faccia della terra.

La genealogia di Abramo

10 Questa è la discendenza di Sem. Sem, all’età di cento anni, generò Arpacsad, due anni dopo il diluvio. 11 Sem, dopo aver generato Arpacsad, visse cinquecento anni e generò figli e figlie. 12 Arpacsad visse trentacinque anni e generò Sela; 13 Arpacsad, dopo aver generato Sela, visse quattrocentotré anni e generò figli e figlie. 14 Sela visse trent’anni e generò Eber; 15 Sela, dopo aver generato Eber, visse quattrocentotré anni e generò figli e figlie. 16 Eber visse trentaquattro anni e generò Peleg; 17 Eber, dopo aver generato Peleg, visse quattrocentotrent’anni e generò figli e figlie. 18 Peleg visse trent’anni e generò Reu; 19 Peleg, dopo aver generato Reu, visse duecentonove anni e generò figli e figlie. 20 Reu visse trentadue anni e generò Serug; 21 Reu, dopo aver generato Serug, visse duecentosette anni e generò figli e figlie. 22 Serug visse trent’anni e generò Naor; 23 Serug, dopo aver generato Naor, visse duecento anni e generò figli e figlie. 24 Naor visse ventinove anni e generò Tera; 25 Naor, dopo aver generato Tera, visse centodiciannove anni e generò figli e figlie. 26 Tera visse settant’anni e generò Abramo, Naor e Aran. 27 Questa è la discendenza di Tera. Tera generò Abramo, Naor e Aran; Aran generò Lot. 28 Aran morì in presenza di Tera, suo padre, nel suo paese natale in Ur dei Caldei^[3]. 29 Abramo e Naor si presero delle mogli; il nome della moglie di Abramo era Sarai; e il nome della moglie di Naor, Milca, che era figlia di Aran, padre di Milca e padre di Isca. 30 Sarai era sterile; non aveva figli. 31 Tera prese Abramo, suo figlio, e Lot, figlio di Aran, cioè figlio di suo figlio, e Sarai sua nuora, moglie di Abramo suo figlio, e uscì con loro da Ur dei Caldei per andare nel paese di Canaan. Essi giunsero fino a Caran^[4], e là soggiornarono. 32 Il tempo che Tera visse fu duecentocinque anni; poi Tera morì in Caran.

Der Turmbau zu Babel

1 Es hatte aber alle Welt einerlei Zunge und Sprache. 2 Als sie nun von Osten aufbrachen, fanden sie eine Ebene im Lande Schinar und wohnten daselbst. 3 Und sie sprachen untereinander: Wohlauf, lasst uns Ziegel streichen und brennen! – und nahmen Ziegel als Stein und Erdharz als Mörtel 4 und sprachen: Wohlauf, lasst uns eine Stadt und einen Turm bauen, dessen Spitze bis an den Himmel reiche, dass wir uns einen Namen machen; denn wir werden sonst zerstreut über die ganze Erde. 5 Da fuhr der HERR hernieder, dass er sähe die Stadt und den Turm, die die Menschenkinder bauten. (Gen 18,21; Sal 14,2) 6 Und der HERR sprach: Siehe, es ist einerlei Volk und einerlei Sprache unter ihnen allen und dies ist der Anfang ihres Tuns; nun wird ihnen nichts mehr verwehrt werden können von allem, was sie sich vorgenommen haben zu tun. (At 2,1) 7 Wohlauf, lasst uns herniederfahren und dort ihre Sprache verwirren, dass keiner des andern Sprache verstehe! 8 So zerstreute sie der HERR von dort über die ganze Erde, dass sie aufhören mussten, die Stadt zu bauen. (De 32,8; Lu 1,51) 9 Daher heißt ihr Name Babel, weil der HERR daselbst verwirrt hat aller Welt Sprache und sie von dort zerstreut hat über die ganze Erde.

10 Dies ist das Geschlecht Sems: Sem war 100 Jahre alt und zeugte Arpachschad zwei Jahre nach der Sintflut (Gen 10,21; 1Cr 1,24; Lu 3,34) 11 und lebte danach 500 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter. 12 Arpachschad war 35 Jahre alt und zeugte Schelach 13 und lebte danach 403 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter. 14 Schelach war 30 Jahre alt und zeugte Eber 15 und lebte danach 403 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter. 16 Eber war 34 Jahre alt und zeugte Peleg 17 und lebte danach 430 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter. 18 Peleg war 30 Jahre alt und zeugte Regu 19 und lebte danach 209 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter. 20 Regu war 32 Jahre alt und zeugte Serug 21 und lebte danach 207 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter. 22 Serug war 30 Jahre alt und zeugte Nahor 23 und lebte danach 200 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter. 24 Nahor war 29 Jahre alt und zeugte Terach 25 und lebte danach 119 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter. 26 Terach war 70 Jahre alt und zeugte Abram, Nahor und Haran.

Terachs Geschlecht. Sein Zug von Ur nach Haran

27 Dies ist das Geschlecht Terachs: Terach zeugte Abram, Nahor und Haran; und Haran zeugte Lot. 28 Haran aber starb vor seinem Vater Terach in seinem Vaterland zu Ur in Chaldäa. 29 Da nahmen sich Abram und Nahor Frauen. Abrams Frau hieß Sarai und Nahors Frau Milka, Harans Tochter, der der Vater war der Milka und der Jiska. (Gen 22,20) 30 Aber Sarai war unfruchtbar und hatte kein Kind. 31 Da nahm Terach seinen Sohn Abram und Lot, den Sohn seines Sohnes Haran, und seine Schwiegertochter Sarai, die Frau seines Sohnes Abram, und führte sie aus Ur in Chaldäa, um ins Land Kanaan zu ziehen. Und sie kamen nach Haran und wohnten dort. (Gios 24,2; Ne 9,7) 32 Und Terach wurde zweihundertundfünf Jahre alt und starb in Haran.

La torre de Babel

1 En ese entonces se hablaba un solo idioma en toda la tierra. 2 Al emigrar al oriente, la gente encontró una llanura en la región de Sinar, y allí se asentaron. 3 Un día se dijeron unos a otros: «Vamos a hacer ladrillos, y a cocerlos al fuego.» Fue así como usaron ladrillos en vez de piedras, y asfalto en vez de mezcla. 4 Luego dijeron: «Construyamos una ciudad con una torre que llegue hasta el cielo. De ese modo nos haremos famosos y evitaremos ser dispersados por toda la tierra.» 5 Pero el Señor bajó para observar la ciudad y la torre que los hombres estaban construyendo, 6 y se dijo: «Todos forman un solo pueblo y hablan un solo idioma; esto es sólo el comienzo de sus obras, y todo lo que se propongan lo podrán lograr. 7 Será mejor que bajemos a confundir su idioma, para que ya no se entiendan entre ellos mismos.» 8 De esta manera el Señor los dispersó desde allí por toda la tierra, y por lo tanto dejaron de construir la ciudad. 9 Por eso a la ciudad se le llamó Babel,^[1] porque fue allí donde el Señor confundió el idioma de toda la gente de la tierra, y de donde los dispersó por todo el mundo.

10 Ésta es la historia de Sem: Dos años después del diluvio, cuando Sem tenía cien años, nació su hijo Arfaxad. 11 Después del nacimiento de Arfaxad, Sem vivió quinientos años más, y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas. 12 Cuando Arfaxad tenía treinta y cinco años, nació su hijo Selaj. 13 Después del nacimiento de Selaj, Arfaxad vivió cuatrocientos tres años más, y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas. 14 Cuando Selaj tenía treinta años, nació su hijo Éber. 15 Después del nacimiento de Éber, Selaj vivió cuatrocientos tres años más, y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas. 16 Cuando Éber tenía treinta y cuatro años, nació su hijo Péleg. 17 Después del nacimiento de Péleg, Éber vivió cuatrocientos treinta años más, y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas. 18 Cuando Péleg tenía treinta años, nació su hijo Reú. 19 Después del nacimiento de Reú, Péleg vivió doscientos nueve años más, y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas. 20 Cuando Reú tenía treinta y dos años, nació su hijo Serug. 21 Después del nacimiento de Serug, Reú vivió doscientos siete años más, y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas. 22 Cuando Serug tenía treinta años, nació su hijo Najor. 23 Después del nacimiento de Najor, Serug vivió doscientos años más, y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas. 24 Cuando Najor tenía veintinueve años, nació su hijo Téraj. 25 Después del nacimiento de Téraj, Najor vivió ciento diecinueve años más, y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas. 26 Cuando Téraj tenía setenta años, ya habían nacido sus hijos Abram, Najor y Jarán.

Descendientes de Téraj

27 Ésta es la historia de Téraj, el padre de Abram, Najor y Jarán. Jarán fue el padre de Lot, 28 y murió en Ur de los caldeos, su tierra natal, cuando su padre Téraj aún vivía. 29 Abram se casó con Saray, y Najor se casó con Milca, la hija de Jarán, el cual tuvo otra hija llamada Iscá. 30 Pero Saray era estéril; no podía tener hijos. 31 Téraj salió de Ur de los caldeos rumbo a Canaán. Se fue con su hijo Abram, su nieto Lot y su nuera Saray, la esposa de Abram. Sin embargo, al llegar a la ciudad de Jarán, se quedaron a vivir en aquel lugar, 32 y allí mismo murió Téraj a los doscientos años de edad.
