1 Al direttore del coro. Per strumenti a corda. Cantico di Davide, quando gli Zifei vennero a dire a Saul: «Davide non è forse nascosto tra noi?» O Dio, salvami per amore del tuo nome, e fammi giustizia per la tua potenza. 2 O Dio, ascolta la mia preghiera, porgi orecchio alle parole della mia bocca! 3 Poiché degli stranieri sono insorti contro di me e dei violenti cercano l’anima mia. Essi non tengono Dio presente davanti a loro. [Pausa] 4 Ecco, Dio è il mio aiuto; il Signore è colui che sostiene l’anima mia. 5 Egli farà ricadere il male sui miei nemici. Nella tua fedeltà, distruggili! 6 Con cuore generoso ti offrirò sacrifici; celebrerò il tuo nome, o Signore, perché sei buono; 7 infatti mi hai salvato da ogni disgrazia, e l’occhio mio ha visto sui miei nemici quel che desideravo.

(1Sam 23,19; 1Sam 26,1) 3 Gott, durch deinen Namen rette mich und schaffe mir Recht durch deine Macht! (Sal 20,2; Sal 43,1) 4 Gott, höre mein Gebet, nimm zu Ohren die Reden meines Mundes! (Sal 17,1) 5 Denn Fremde sind gegen mich aufgestanden, und Gewalttätige trachten nach meinem Leben; sie haben Gott nicht vor sich gestellt. // (Sal 86,14) 6 Siehe, Gott ist mir ein Helfer; der Herr ist der, der meine Seele stützt[2]. (Sal 118,7; Is 50,7) 7 Er wird das Böse zurücklenken auf meine Feinde; nach deiner Treue vernichte sie[3]! (Sal 143,12) 8 Opfern will ich dir aus freiem Antrieb; deinen Namen will ich preisen, HERR, denn er ist gut. A Maskil[1] of David, when the Ziphites went and told Saul, “Is not David hiding among us?” O God, save me by your name, and vindicate me by your might. (1Sam 23,19; 1Sam 26,1; Sal 4,1; Sal 5,11; Sal 52,9) 2 O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth. (Sal 55,1) 3 For strangers[2] have risen against me; ruthless men seek my life; they do not set God before themselves. (1Sam 23,15; Sal 18,44; Sal 86,14; Sal 144,7; Is 25,5) 4 Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. (Sal 118,7) 5 He will return the evil to my enemies; in your faithfulness put an end to them. (Sal 89,49; Sal 143,12) 6 With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you; I will give thanks to your name, O Lord, for it is good. (Sal 52,9) 7 For he has delivered me from every trouble, and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies. (Sal 59,10; Sal 92,11; Sal 112,8; Sal 118,7)

1 To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when the Ziphims came and said to Saul, Doth not David hide himself with us? Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength. 2 Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth. 3 For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. Selah. 4 Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul. 5 He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth. 6 I will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name, O LORD; for it is good. 7 For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine enemies.
