Castigo per il delatore

1 Al direttore del coro. Cantico di Davide, quando Doeg l’Edomita venne a riferire a Saul che Davide era entrato in casa di Aimelec. Perché ti vanti del male, uomo prepotente? La bontà di Dio dura per sempre. 

2 La tua lingua medita rovine; essa è simile a un rasoio affilato, o artefice d’inganni. 

3 Tu preferisci il male al bene, mentire piuttosto che dire la verità. [Pausa] 

4 Tu ami ogni parola che causa rovina, o lingua insidiosa! 

5 Perciò Dio ti distruggerà per sempre; ti afferrerà, ti strapperà dalla tua tenda e ti sradicherà dalla terra dei viventi. [Pausa] 

6 I giusti lo vedranno e temeranno, poi rideranno di lui, dicendo: 

7 «Ecco l’uomo che non aveva fatto di Dio la sua fortezza, ma aveva fiducia nell’abbondanza delle sue ricchezze e si faceva forte della sua perversità!» 

8 Ma io sono come un olivo verdeggiante nella casa di Dio; io confido per sempre nella bontà di Dio. 

9 Sempre ti celebrerò per quanto hai fatto e in presenza dei tuoi fedeli spererò nel tuo nome, perché tu sei buono.

1 Dem Chorleiter. Ein Maskil. Von David. 

2 Als Doëg, der Edomiter, kam und dem Saul berichtete und ihm sagte: David ist in das Haus Ahimelechs gekommen. (1Sam 22,9) 

3 Was rühmst du dich der Bosheit, du Gewaltiger? Die Gnade Gottes ⟨währt⟩ den ganzen Tag. 

4 Verderben plant deine Zunge, wie ein geschliffenes Schermesser, ⟨du⟩ Lügner. (Sal 50,19; Sal 140,4) 

5 Du hast das Böse mehr geliebt als das Gute, die Lüge mehr als gerechtes Reden. // 

6 Du hast alle Worte des Verderbens geliebt, ⟨du⟩ betrügerische Zunge! (Sal 120,2) 

7 Gott wird dich auch zerstören für immer; er wird dich niederschlagen und herausreißen aus dem Zelt und entwurzeln aus dem Land der Lebendigen. // (Prov 2,22) 

8 Und sehen werden es die Gerechten und sich fürchten, und sie werden über ihn lachen: (Sal 58,11; At 5,11) 

9 »Siehe, der Mann machte nicht Gott zu seinem Schutz, sondern vertraute auf die Größe seines Reichtums, durch sein Schadentun war er stark!« 

10 Ich aber bin wie ein grüner Olivenbaum im Hause Gottes; ich vertraue auf die Gnade Gottes immer und ewig. (Sal 92,14) 

11 Ich werde dich ewig preisen, weil du es getan hast; und auf deinen Namen – denn er ist gut – werde ich harren vor deinen Getreuen. (Sal 54,8)

The Steadfast Love of God Endures

1 To the choirmaster. A Maskil of David, when Doeg, the Edomite, came and told Saul, “David has come to the house of Ahimelech.” Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? The steadfast love of God endures all the day. (1Sam 22,9) 

2 Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharp razor, you worker of deceit. (Sal 50,19; Sal 57,4; Sal 101,7) 

3 You love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking what is right. (Ger 9,4) 

4 You love all words that devour, O deceitful tongue. 

5 But God will break you down forever; he will snatch and tear you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. (Sal 27,13; Prov 2,22) 

6 The righteous shall see and fear, and shall laugh at him, saying, (Sal 2,4; Sal 40,3) 

7 “See the man who would not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his riches and sought refuge in his own destruction!” (Sal 49,6) 

8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever. (Sal 1,3; Sal 37,35; Sal 92,12; Sal 128,3; Sal 144,12; Ger 11,16; Os 14,6) 

9 I will thank you forever, because you have done it. I will wait for your name, for it is good, in the presence of the godly. (Sal 50,5; Sal 54,6)

1 To the chief Musician, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech. Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually. 

2 Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. 

3 Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah. 

4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue. 

5 God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah. 

6 The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him: 

7 Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness. 

8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever. 

9 I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it : and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.
