1 Salmo di Davide, composto quando fuggiva davanti ad Absalom, suo figlio. O Signore, quanto sono numerosi i miei nemici! Molti sono quelli che insorgono contro di me, 2 molti quelli che dicono di me: «Non c’è più salvezza per lui presso Dio!» [Pausa] 3 Ma tu, o Signore, sei uno scudo attorno a me, sei la mia gloria, colui che mi rialza il capo. 4 Con la mia voce io grido al Signore ed egli mi risponde dal suo monte santo. [Pausa] 5 Io mi sono coricato e ho dormito, poi mi sono risvegliato, perché il Signore mi sostiene. 6 Io non temo le miriadi di genti che si sono accampate contro di me d’ogni intorno. 7 Ergiti, o Signore, salvami, Dio mio; poiché tu hai percosso tutti i miei nemici sulla guancia, hai rotto i denti agli empi. 8 Al Signore appartiene la salvezza; la tua benedizione sia sul tuo popolo! [Pausa]

1 Ein Psalm. Von David. Als er vor seinem Sohn Absalom floh. (2Sam 15,14) 2 HERR! Wie zahlreich sind meine Bedränger! Viele erheben sich gegen mich; (2Sam 16,7; Sal 124,2) 3 viele sagen von mir: Es gibt keine Rettung für ihn bei Gott! //[1] (Mat 27,42) 4 Du aber, HERR, bist ein Schild um mich her, meine Ehre, und der mein Haupt emporhebt. (Gen 15,1; Sal 5,13; Sal 18,3; Sal 27,6; Sal 28,7; Sal 47,10; Sal 62,8; Sal 84,12; Sal 89,19; Sal 119,114; Prov 2,7) 5 Mit meiner Stimme rufe ich zum HERRN, und er antwortet mir von seinem heiligen Berg. // (Sal 34,5) 6 Ich legte mich nieder und schlief; ich erwachte, denn der HERR stützt mich. 1 A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. O Lord, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me; (2Sam 15,12; 2Sam 15,14; 2Sam 18,31) 2 many are saying of my soul, “There is no salvation for him in God.” [1] (2Sam 16,8; Sal 71,11) 3 But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. (Gen 15,1; Giob 1,10; Giob 10,15; Sal 27,5; Sal 28,7; Sal 84,9; Sal 119,114) 4 I cried aloud to the Lord, and he answered me from his holy hill. 1 A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. 2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. 3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. 4 I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. 5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. 6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. 7 Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. 8 Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
