Profezia contro l’Egitto e il faraone

1 L’anno decimo, il decimo mese, il dodicesimo giorno del mese, la parola del Signore mi fu rivolta in questi termini: 2 «Figlio d’uomo, volgi la tua faccia contro il faraone, re d’Egitto, e profetizza contro di lui e contro tutto l’Egitto; parla e di’: 3 Così parla il Signore, Dio: “Eccomi contro di te, faraone, re d’Egitto, gran coccodrillo, che stai disteso in mezzo ai tuoi fiumi e dici: ‘Il fiume è mio e sono io che l’ho fatto!’ 4 Io metterò dei ganci nelle tue mascelle, farò in modo che i pesci dei tuoi fiumi si attacchino alle tue scaglie e ti tirerò fuori dai tuoi fiumi, con tutti i pesci dei tuoi fiumi attaccati alle tue scaglie. 5 Ti getterò nel deserto, te e tutti i pesci dei tuoi fiumi, e tu cadrai in mezzo ai campi; non sarai né adunato né raccolto, e io ti darò in pasto alle bestie della terra e agli uccelli del cielo. 6 Tutti gli abitanti dell’Egitto conosceranno che io sono il Signore, perché essi sono stati per la casa d’Israele un sostegno di canna. 7 Quando ti hanno preso in mano, ti sei rotto e hai forato loro tutta la spalla; quando si sono appoggiati su di te, ti sei spezzato e li hai fatti stare tutti sui loro fianchi”. 8 Perciò, così parla il Signore, Dio: “Ecco, io farò venire sopra di te la spada e sterminerò in mezzo a te uomini e bestie: 9 il paese d’Egitto sarà ridotto in una desolazione, in un deserto, e si conoscerà che io sono il Signore, perché il faraone ha detto: ‘Il fiume è mio e sono io che l’ho fatto!’ 10 Perciò, eccomi contro di te e contro il tuo fiume; ridurrò il paese d’Egitto in un deserto, in una desolazione, da Migdol a Siene, fino alle frontiere d’Etiopia. 11 Non vi passerà piede d’uomo, non vi passerà piede di bestia, né sarà più abitato per quarant’anni. 12 Ridurrò il paese d’Egitto in una desolazione in mezzo a contrade desolate; le sue città saranno una desolazione, per quarant’anni, in mezzo a città devastate. Disperderò gli Egiziani fra le nazioni e li disseminerò per tutti i paesi”. 13 Infatti così parla il Signore, Dio: “Alla fine dei quarant’anni io raccoglierò gli Egiziani in mezzo ai popoli dove saranno stati dispersi 14 e farò tornare gli Egiziani dal loro esilio; li ricondurrò nel paese di Patros, nel loro paese natìo, e qui saranno un umile regno. 15 L’Egitto sarà il più umile dei regni e non si eleverà più sopra le nazioni; io ridurrò il loro numero, perché non abbiano più il dominio sulle nazioni. 16 La casa d’Israele non riporrà più la sua fiducia in quelli che le ricorderanno l’iniquità da lei commessa quando si rivolgeva verso di loro; e si conoscerà che io sono il Signore, Dio”». 17 Il ventisettesimo anno, il primo mese, il primo giorno del mese, la parola del Signore mi fu rivolta in questi termini: 18 «Figlio d’uomo, Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, ha fatto fare al suo esercito un duro servizio contro Tiro; ogni testa n’è divenuta calva, ogni spalla scorticata; né egli né il suo esercito hanno ricavato da Tiro nessun vantaggio dal servizio che egli ha fatto contro di essa. 19 Perciò così parla il Signore, Dio: “Ecco, io do a Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, il paese d’Egitto; egli ne porterà via le ricchezze, lo spoglierà delle sue spoglie e si impadronirà di quanto c’è da saccheggiare; questo sarà il salario per il suo esercito. 20 Come retribuzione del servizio che egli ha fatto contro Tiro, io gli do il paese d’Egitto, poiché hanno lavorato per me”, dice il Signore, Dio. 21 “In quel giorno io farò rispuntare la potenza della casa d’Israele e darò a te di parlare liberamente in mezzo a loro, ed essi conosceranno che io sono il Signore”».

Drohrede gegen Ägypten und Ankündigung späterer Wiederherstellung – Ägypten als ausgleichender Lohn für Nebukadnezars mühevolle Belagerung von Tyrus

1 Im zehnten Jahr, im zehnten ⟨Monat⟩, am Zwölften des Monats, geschah das Wort des HERRN zu mir so: (Ez 8,1; Ez 29,17) 2 Menschensohn, richte dein Gesicht gegen den Pharao, den König von Ägypten, und weissage über ihn und über ganz Ägypten. (Ger 25,17; Ger 44,30) 3 Rede und sage: So spricht der Herr, HERR: Siehe, ich will an dich, Pharao, König von Ägypten, du großes Seeungeheuer, das inmitten seiner Ströme^[1] liegt, das da sagt: »Mein Strom gehört mir, und ich selbst habe ihn mir gemacht.« (Is 27,1; Ez 28,2; Da 4,27; Am 6,13)

4 Ich lege Haken in deine Kinnbacken und lasse die Fische deiner Ströme^[2] an deinen Schuppen haften und ziehe dich aus deinen Strömen herauf mit allen Fischen deiner Ströme, die an deinen Schuppen haften. (Is 37,29; Ez 38,4) 5 Und ich werfe dich in die Wüste, dich und alle Fische deiner Ströme^[3]; auf die Fläche des Feldes wirst du fallen. Du wirst nicht aufgelesen und nicht eingesammelt: den Tieren der Erde und den Vögeln des Himmels gebe ich dich zum Fraß, (Ger 25,33; Ez 39,17) 6 und alle Bewohner von Ägypten werden erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin. Weil du dem Haus Israel eine Stütze aus Schilfrohr gewesen bist^[4] – (2Re 18,21; Lam 4,17; Ez 17,17) 7 wenn sie dich mit der Hand fassten, knicktest du ein und rissest ihnen die ganze Schulter^[5] auf; und wenn sie sich auf dich lehnten, zerbrachst du und ließest ihnen allen die Hüften wanken^[6] –; (Is 20,5; Is 30,3; Na 3,9) 8 darum, so spricht der Herr, HERR: Siehe, ich bringe das Schwert über dich und rotte aus dir Menschen und Vieh aus; 9 und das Land Ägypten wird zur Einöde und Trümmerstätte werden. Und sie werden erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin. Weil du sagst^[7]: »Der Strom^[8] gehört mir, und ich selbst habe ihn gemacht«; (Ez 28,2; Da 4,27; Am 6,13) 10 darum, siehe, will ich an dich und an deine Ströme^[9]; und ich mache das Land Ägypten zu Trümmerstätten der Verwüstung, ⟨zur⟩ Einöde, von Migdol^[10] ⟨bis nach⟩ Syene^[11], bis an die Grenze von Kusch. (Ger 44,1; Gioe 4,19) 11 Der Fuß eines Menschen wird es nicht durchwandern, und der Fuß eines Tieres wird es nicht durchwandern, und es wird vierzig Jahre ⟨lang⟩ nicht bewohnt sein. (Ger 25,11; Da 9,2) 12 Und ich mache das Land Ägypten zu einer Einöde mitten unter verödeten Ländern, und seine Städte werden mitten unter zertrümmerten Städten eine Einöde sein, vierzig Jahre ⟨lang⟩; und ich werde die Ägypter unter die Nationen versprengen und sie in die Länder zerstreuen. – 13 Denn so spricht der Herr, HERR: Am Ende von vierzig Jahren werde ich die Ägypter aus den Völkern sammeln, wohin sie versprengt wurden; (Ger 46,26) 14 und ich werde das Geschick Ägyptens wenden und sie in das Land Patros^[12], in das Land ihrer Herkunft, zurückbringen, und dort werden sie ein niedriges Königreich sein. (Is 11,11; Ger 44,1; Zac 10,11) 15 Und es wird niedriger sein als die ⟨anderen⟩ Königreiche und sich nicht mehr über die Nationen erheben; und ich will sie vermindern, sodass sie nicht mehr über die Nationen herrschen. (Zac 10,11) 16 Und sie sollen^[13] für das Haus Israel nicht mehr zum ⟨Anlass für falsches⟩ Vertrauen werden, das Schuld in Erinnerung bringt, wenn die Israeliten^[14] sich zu ihnen hinwenden. Jeder Kopf ist kahl geworden, und jede Schulter ist blank gescheuert; aber Lohn ist ihm und seinem Heer von Tyrus nicht zuteilgeworden für die Arbeit, die er gegen es geleistet hat. (Ez 26,7) 19 Darum, so spricht der Herr, HERR: Siehe, ich gebe Nebukadnezar, dem König von Babel, das Land Ägypten; und er wird seinen Prunk^[16] wegtragen und seinen Raub rauben und seine Beute erbeuten; das wird der Lohn für sein Heer sein. 20 Als seinen Lohn, für den er gearbeitet hat, habe ich ihm das Land Ägypten gegeben, weil sie für mich gearbeitet haben, spricht der Herr, HERR^[17]. – 21 An jenem Tag werde ich dem Haus Israel ein Horn hervorsprossen lassen, und dir gebe ich Freimut zum Reden^[18] in ihrer Mitte; und sie werden erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin. Prophecy Against Egypt

8 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will bring a sword upon you, and will cut off from you man and beast, (Ez 14,17) 9 and the land of Egypt shall be a desolation and a waste. Then they will know that I am the Lord. “Because you^[3] said, ‘The Nile is mine, and I made it,’ (Ez 13,8; Ez 29,3; Ez 29,6) 10 therefore, behold, I am against you and against your streams, and I will make the land of Egypt an utter waste and desolation, from Migdol to Syene, as far as the border of Cush. Every head was made bald, and every shoulder was rubbed bare, yet neither he nor his army got anything from Tyre to pay for the labor that he had performed against her.
