Dali mu veniec víťaza, aby šiel a dobýjal.3Keď baránok rozlomil druhú pečať, počul som, ako druhá z tých bytostí povedala. „Poď!“4Tentoraz vybehol ohnivočervený kôň a na ňom jazdec ozbrojený veľkým mečom. Ten dostal moc narušiť na zemi mier, aby sa ľudia navzájom vraždili.5Keď rozlomil tretiu pečať, počul som, ako tretia bytosť povedala: „Poď!“ A tu vybehol čierny kôň a na ňom jazdec s váhami v rukách.6A z kruhu tých štyroch bytostí som počul hlas: „Peceň pšeničného chleba za dennú mzdu alebo tri pecne jačmenného. Ale olej a víno nechaj tak.“7Keď rozlomil štvrtú pečať, počul som, ako štvrtá bytosť povedala: „Poď!“8A tu vybehol kôň mŕtvolne bledej farby a na ňom sa niesla sama Smrť a svet mŕtvych zostával za ním.A bola im daná moc, aby štvrtinu zeme hubili vojnami, hladom, epidémiami a divou zemskou zverou.9Keď Baránok rozlomil piatu pečať, zazrel som pod oltárom tých, ktorí boli umučení pre Božie slovo a pre svedectvo, ktoré vydali.10A z celej sily volali: „Kedy už, Pane svätý a verný, vykonáš súd a prísne potrestáš obyvateľov zeme za to, že preliali našu krv?“11Každý z nich dostal potom biele rúcho a povedali im, aby ešte trochu vyčkali, kým sa k nim nepripoja ďalší spoluslužobníci a bratia, ktorí majú byť ešte usmrtení.12Keď rozlomil šiestu pečať, nastalo veľké zemetrasenie, slnko sčernelo ako smútočný rubáš a mesiac bol červený ako krv.13Nebeské hviezdy začali padať na zem, ako keď figovník striasa na zem zrelé plody, keď ním lomcuje silný vietor.14Nebo zmizlo pred očami, ako keď sa zavrie kniha, a všetky vrchy a ostrovy sa pohli zo svojho miesta.15Kráľovia zeme a veľmoži aj vojvodcovia, boháči aj mocní, otroci aj slobodní, všetci utekali do hôr, aby sa schovali v jaskyniach a horských bralách, a volali: „Vrchy a skaly, zrúťte sa na nás a skryte nás pred tvárou toho, ktorý sedí na tróne, a pred hnevom Baránkovým! Lebo prichádza deň ich súdu, a kto z nás bude môcť obstáť?“

And its rider had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer. Its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that people should slay one another, and he was given a great sword. (Zach 1,8; Zach 6,2; Mt 10,34; Mt 24,6)5When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” And I looked, and behold, a black horse! And its rider had a pair of scales in his hand. (Zach 6,2; Zjv 6,3)6And I heard what seemed to be a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, “A quart[1] of wheat for a denarius,[2] and three quarts of barley for a denarius, and do not harm the oil and wine!” (Ez 4,10; Ez 5,10; Ez 5,16; Zjv 7,3; Zjv 9,4)7When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” (Zjv 6,3)8And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth. (Lv 26,22; Dt 32,24; Ez 14,21; Zach 6,3)9When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne. (Zjv 1,2; Zjv 1,9; Zjv 14,18; Zjv 16,7; Zjv 20,4)10They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” (Ž 79,10; Ž 94,3; Ž 119,84; Zach 1,12; Lk 18,7; Zjv 3,7; Zjv 3,10; Zjv 11,18; Zjv 19,2)11Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers[3] should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been. (Gn 15,16; Hebr 11,40; Zjv 3,4; Zjv 7,9; Zjv 14,13)12When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, (Iz 50,3; Mt 24,29; Hebr 12,26; Zjv 11,13; Zjv 16,18)13and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. (Iz 34,4; Zjv 8,10; Zjv 9,1)14The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. (Iz 54,10; Jer 4,24; Ez 38,20; Nah 1,5; Zjv 6,13; Zjv 16,20; Zjv 20,11; Zjv 21,1)15Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave[4] and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, (Iz 2,19; Iz 2,21)16calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, (Oz 10,8; Lk 23,30; Zjv 4,2)17for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?” (Ezd 9,15; Ž 76,7; Jer 30,7; Joel 2,11; Joel 2,31; Mal 3,2; Lk 21,36)
