1V nedeľu zavčasu ráno sa ženy pobrali k hrobu a niesli so sebou vonné masti a oleje.2Ale obrovský kameň, ktorým bol zakrytý vchod do hrobu, bol odvalený.3Vošli dnu, no telo Pána Ježiša tam nenašli.4Ako tu bezradné stáli, zrazu sa vedľa nich zjavili dvaja muži v oslepujúco žiarivom odeve.5Ženy sa predesili a sklonili tváre hlboko k zemi.Muži sa ich spýtali: „Prečo hľadáte živého medzi mŕtvymi?6Ježiš tu nie je, Ježiš žije! Spomeňte si, ako vám hovoril už v Galilei,7že Syna človeka musia odovzdať do rúk zlých ľudí, že ho ukrižujú, ale na tretí deň vstane z mŕtvych.“8Ženy sa na to naozaj rozpamätali.9Vrátili sa od hrobu a všetko vyrozprávali jedenástim apoštolom aj všetkým ostatným.10Bola to Mária Magdaléna, Jana, Mária Jakubova a ešte ďalšie.11Ale učeníci im neverili a pokladali túto správu za výplod fantázie.12No Peter sa predsa rozbehol k hrobu. Keď sa nahol dnu, videl tam len plachty. Vrátil sa a nemohol pochopiť, čo sa stalo.
Vzkriesený Ježiš stretáva svojich učeníkov
13V ten istý nedeľný deň sa dvaja z Ježišových učeníkov uberali do dediny Emauzy, ktorá je od Jeruzalema vzdialená asi tri hodiny cesty.14Idúcky sa zhovárali a znova preberali všetky udalosti okolo Ježišovej smrti,15keď sa k nim zrazu pripojil on sám a šiel s nimi.16Ale nespoznali ho, lebo oči mali akoby zastreté.17„O čom sa to rozprávate?“ prihovoril sa im. Zostali stáť a na tvárach sa im zračil hlboký smútok.18Jeden z nich, Kleofáš, mu odpovedal: „Ty si asi jediný z celého Jeruzalema, ktorý nevie, čo sa tam po tieto dni stalo!“19Spýtal sa ich: „A čo sa vlastne stalo?“ – „Ty si nič nepočul o Ježišovi z Nazareta?“ čudovali sa. „Bol to prorok, ktorý robil neuveriteľné zázraky, vyučoval s veľkou mocou a vysoko si ho vážil aj Boh, aj ľudia.20Ale naši veľkňazi a členovia rady ho zatkli a odovzdali rímskemu panovníkovi, aby ho odsúdil na smrť, a potom ho ukrižovali.21A my sme dúfali, že on je ten očakávaný Mesiáš, ktorý vyslobodí Izrael. Stalo sa to už predvčerom,22no dnes nás niektoré ženy vyľakali správou: Zavčasu ráno boli pri jeho hrobe, ale nenašli jeho telo,23a vraj videli anjelov, ktorí im povedali, že Ježiš žije.24Niektorí z nás potom utekali k hrobu a presvedčili sa, že ženy vraveli pravdu, ale jeho nenašli.“25Ježiš im na to povedal: „Akí ste nechápaví! Je také ťažké uveriť tomu, čo predpovedali v Písme proroci?26Či nebolo jasne napísané, že Mesiáš musí to všetko vytrpieť, kým nevstúpi do svojej slávy?“27A potom im začal citovať všetky state Písma od Mojžišovej knihy až po prorokov a vykladal im všetky slová, ktoré sa vzťahovali naňho.28Keď sa priblížili k dedine Emauzy, k cieľu svojej cesty, Ježiš akoby chcel ísť ďalej.29Ale oni ho prehovorili, aby zostal s nimi na noc, lebo už sa zvečerievalo. Dal sa teda pozvať a vošiel s nimi do domu.30Keď zasadli k večeri, vzal do rúk chlieb, poďakoval Bohu, rozlámal ho a podával im.31V tej chvíli sa im otvorili oči a spoznali ho, no vzápätí zmizol.32Vraveli si vzrušene: „Či nám nehorelo srdce, keď sa celou cestou zhováral s nami a vysvetľoval nám zmysel proroctiev?“33Nedbali na to, že je neskoro, a hneď sa pobrali naspäť do Jeruzalema, kde ich jedenásti učeníci a ostatní Ježišovi nasledovníci uvítali slovami:34„Ježiš naozaj vstal z mŕtvych! Ukázal sa Petrovi!“35A oni zasa porozprávali, čo sa im prihodilo na ceste a ako spoznali Ježiša podľa lámania chleba.
Ježiš vysvetľuje svoje zmŕtvychvstanie
36Práve keď o tom rozprávali, Ježiš sa zrazu zjavil medzi nimi a pozdravil ich: „Pokoj vám!“37Ale všetci sa strašne preľakli, lebo sa domnievali, že vidia ducha.38„Prečo sa ľakáte a prečo sa rodia vo vašom srdci pochybnosti?“ napomenul ich.39„Pozrite na moje ruky a nohy, som to naozaj ja. Môžete sa ma dotknúť, nie som duch, ten nemá telo z mäsa a kostí!“40Pri tých slovách im ukázal rany od klincov na rukách aj na nohách.41No ešte vždy tomu nemohli uveriť, radovali sa aj pochybovali, a tak ich požiadal: „Máte tu niečo na jedenie?“42Podali mu kúsok pečenej ryby a medového plásta.43Zjedol to pred ich očami.44Potom im povedal: „Spomeňte si, keď som ešte býval s vami, pripomínal som vám, že sa musí naplniť všetko, čo je o mne napísané v Zákone Mojžišovom, v Prorokoch aj v Žalmoch.“45Vtedy im otvoril myseľ, takže konečne rozumeli slovám Písma.46Pokračoval: „Áno, už dávno bolo napísané, že Mesiáš musí trpieť, zomrieť a tretí deň vstane z mŕtvych.47A z Jeruzalema sa zvesť o záchrane musí zaniesť všetkým národom; odpustenie hriechov je pre všetkých, ktorí sa obrátia k nemu.48A vy ste videli, že sa toto proroctvo naplnilo. A teraz sa ľudia všetkých národov musia dozvedieť, že on má právo odpúšťať hriechy a moc zmeniť ich život. Začne sa to rozhlasovať najprv v Jeruzaleme. Vy budete svedčiť, čo sa stalo a čoho ste boli svedkami.49A ja vám pošlem Ducha Svätého, ktorého vám sľúbil môj Otec. Čakajte v Jeruzaleme, kým vás nevyzbrojí touto mocou.“
Ježiš odchádza k Otcovi
50Potom ich viedol známou cestou z Jeruzalema do Betánie. Zastal, zdvihol ruky k nebu a požehnal ich.51A keď im žehnal, vzďaľoval sa od nich a vznášal sa do neba.52Padli pred ním na kolená a potom sa s nesmiernou radosťou vrátili do Jeruzalema.53Celý čas trávili v chráme a velebili Boha.
1But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. (Mt 28,1; Mk 16,1; Lk 23,56; Jn 20,1)2And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, (Mt 27,60; Mk 15,46)3but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.4While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. (Jn 20,12; Sk 1,10; Sk 10,30)5And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? (Lk 24,37)6He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, (Mt 17,22; Mk 9,30; Lk 9,22; Lk 9,44; Lk 24,44)7that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” (Mt 20,19; Lk 9,22; Lk 13,33; Lk 24,6)8And they remembered his words, (Jn 2,22; Jn 12,1)9and returning from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. (Jn 20,18)10Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles, (Mt 27,56; Mk 15,40; Lk 8,3)11but these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them. (Mk 16,11; Mk 16,16)12But Peter rose and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; and he went home marveling at what had happened. (Jn 19,40; Jn 20,3)
On the Road to Emmaus
13That very day two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles[1] from Jerusalem, (Mk 16,12)14and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened.15While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them.16But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. (Lk 9,45; Lk 18,34; Lk 24,31; Jn 20,14; Jn 21,4)17And he said to them, “What is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?” And they stood still, looking sad.18Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”19And he said to them, “What things?” And they said to him, “Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, (Mt 21,11; Sk 2,22; Sk 7,22)20and how our chief priests and rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. (Lk 23,13; Lk 23,35; Jn 3,1; Jn 7,26; Jn 7,48; Jn 12,42; Sk 2,23; Sk 3,17; Sk 4,5; Sk 4,8; Sk 5,30; Sk 13,27; 1 Kor 2,8; 1 Sol 2,15)21But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened. (Lk 1,68; Lk 24,7; 1 Pt 1,18)22Moreover, some women of our company amazed us. They were at the tomb early in the morning, (Lk 24,1)23and when they did not find his body, they came back saying that they had even seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive. (Lk 24,3; Lk 24,4; Lk 24,9)24Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but him they did not see.” (Lk 24,12; Jn 20,3)25And he said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!26Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” (Mt 1,17; Lk 9,26; Lk 24,7; Lk 24,44; Lk 24,46; Sk 3,18; Hebr 2,10; Hebr 12,2; 1 Pt 1,11)27And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. (Gn 3,15; Gn 12,3; Gn 22,18; Nm 21,9; Nm 24,17; 2 Sam 7,12; Iz 7,14; Iz 9,6; Iz 50,6; Iz 52,13; Iz 61,1; Jer 23,5; Dan 7,13; Dan 9,24; Mich 5,2; Zach 6,12; Zach 9,9; Zach 12,10; Zach 13,7; Jn 1,45; Jn 5,46; Sk 8,35; Sk 13,27)28So they drew near to the village to which they were going. He acted as if he were going farther, (Mk 6,48)29but they urged him strongly, saying, “Stay with us, for it is toward evening and the day is now far spent.” So he went in to stay with them. (Lk 9,12)30When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them. (Mt 14,19)31And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from their sight. (Lk 4,30; Lk 24,16)32They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?” (Ž 39,3; Lk 24,45)33And they rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem. And they found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, (Mk 16,13; Sk 1,14; Sk 17,3)34saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!” (1 Kor 15,5)35Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of the bread. (Lk 24,30; Sk 2,42)
Jesus Appears to His Disciples
36As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!” (Mk 16,14; Jn 20,19)37But they were startled and frightened and thought they saw a spirit. (Mt 14,26; Mk 6,49; Lk 21,9; Lk 24,5)38And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts?39See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” (Jn 20,27; 1 Jn 1,1)40And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. (Jn 20,20)41And while they still disbelieved for joy and were marveling, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” (Gn 45,26; Jn 21,5; Sk 12,14)42They gave him a piece of broiled fish,[2]43and he took it and ate before them.44Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” (Lk 24,6; Lk 24,27)45Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, (Jób 33,16; Ž 119,18; Lk 24,32; Sk 16,14; 1 Jn 5,20)46and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, (Mt 26,24; Lk 24,7; Lk 24,26; Jn 20,9)47and that repentance for[3] the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. (Gn 12,3; Ž 22,27; Iz 2,2; Iz 49,6; Oz 2,23; Mal 1,11; Mt 28,19; Lk 2,32; Sk 2,38; Sk 4,12; Sk 5,31; Sk 10,37; Gal 3,8)48You are witnesses of these things. (Jn 15,27; Sk 1,8; Sk 1,22; Sk 2,32; Sk 3,15; Sk 5,32; Sk 10,39; Sk 10,41; Sk 13,31; 1 Kor 15,15; 1 Pt 5,1)49And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” (Jób 29,14; Ž 132,9; Iz 32,15; Lk 1,78; Jn 14,26; Sk 1,4; Sk 1,8; Sk 2,16; Sk 2,33; Ef 1,13)
The Ascension
50And he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. (Mt 21,17; Jn 11,18; Sk 1,12)51While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven. (Mk 16,19)52And they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, (Mt 28,9; Lk 24,50; Jn 16,22)53and were continually in the temple blessing God. (Lk 1,64; Lk 2,28; Sk 2,46; Sk 3,1; Sk 5,21; Sk 5,42)
