Psalm 33
New International Reader’s Version
von Biblica1You who are godly, sing with joy to the LORD. It is right for honest people to praise him.2With the harp, praise the LORD. With the lyre that has ten strings, make music to him.3Sing a new song to him. Play with skill, and shout with joy.4What the LORD says is right and true. He is faithful in everything he does.5The LORD loves what is right and fair. The earth is full of his faithful love.6The heavens were made when the LORD commanded it to happen. All the stars were created by the breath of his mouth.7He gathers together the waters of the sea. He puts the oceans in their places.8Let the whole earth have respect for the LORD. Let all the people in the world honour him.9He spoke, and the world came into being. He commanded, and it stood firm.10The LORD blocks the sinful plans of the nations. He keeps them from doing what they want to do.11But the plans of the LORD stand firm for ever. What he wants to do will last for all time.12Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD. Blessed are the people he chose to be his own.13From heaven the LORD looks down and sees everyone.14From his throne he watches all those who live on the earth.15He creates the hearts of all people. He is aware of everything they do.16A king isn’t saved just because his army is big. A soldier doesn’t escape just because he is very strong.17People can’t trust a horse to save them either. Though it is very strong, it can’t save them.18But the LORD looks with favour on those who respect him. He watches over those who put their hope in his faithful love.19He watches over them to save them from death. He wants to keep them alive when there is no food in the land.20We wait in hope for the LORD. He helps us. He is like a shield that keeps us safe.21Our hearts are full of joy because of him. We trust in him, because he is holy.22LORD, may your faithful love be with us. We put our hope in you.
1Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright. (Ps 32,11; Ps 147,1)2Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings! (Ps 71,22; Ps 144,9)3Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts. (Ps 40,3; Ps 96,1; Jes 42,10)4For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness. (Ps 119,75)5He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord. (Ps 11,7; Ps 36,5; Ps 45,7; Ps 89,14; Ps 119,64)6By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host. (1Mo 1,6; 1Mo 2,1; Hi 26,13; Jes 11,4; Joh 1,3; Hebr 11,3; 2Petr 3,5)7He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap; he puts the deeps in storehouses. (2Mo 15,8; Jos 3,13; Jos 3,16; Hi 38,8; Ps 78,13)8Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!9For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. (1Mo 1,3; Ps 147,15; Ps 147,18; Ps 148,5)10The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples. (2Sam 15,34; 2Sam 17,14; Neh 4,15; Hi 5,12; Jes 8,10; Jes 19,3; Lk 1,51)11The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations. (Spr 19,21; Jes 46,10)12Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage! (2Mo 19,5; 5Mo 7,6; 5Mo 33,29; Ps 65,4; Ps 144,15)13The Lord looks down from heaven; he sees all the children of man; (Hi 28,24; Ps 11,4)14from where he sits enthroned he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth, (1Kön 8,39; 1Kön 8,43; 1Kön 8,49; Spr 15,3; Jer 32,19)15he who fashions the hearts of them all and observes all their deeds.16The king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength. (Ps 44,6)17The war horse is a false hope for salvation, and by its great might it cannot rescue. (Ps 20,7; Ps 147,10; Spr 21,31; Hos 1,7)18Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, (Hi 36,7; Ps 34,15; Ps 147,11; 1Petr 3,12)19that he may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine. (Hi 5,20; Ps 37,19; Apg 12,11)20Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. (Ps 3,3; Ps 62,1; Ps 62,5; Ps 115,9; Ps 130,6; Jes 8,17)21For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. (Ps 9,14; Ps 11,1; Sach 10,7)22Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you.
