1Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come.2It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied round their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble.3So watch yourselves. ‘If your brother or sister[1] sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them.4Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying “I repent,” you must forgive them.’5The apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith!’6He replied, ‘If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, “Be uprooted and planted in the sea,” and it will obey you.7‘Suppose one of you has a servant ploughing or looking after the sheep. Will he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, “Come along now and sit down to eat”?8Won’t he rather say, “Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink”?9Will he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do?10So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, “We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.” ’
Jesus heals ten men with leprosy
11Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus travelled along the border between Samaria and Galilee.12As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy[2] met him. They stood at a distance13and called out in a loud voice, ‘Jesus, Master, have pity on us!’14When he saw them, he said, ‘Go, show yourselves to the priests.’ And as they went, they were cleansed.15One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice.16He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him – and he was a Samaritan.17Jesus asked, ‘Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?18Has no-one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?’19Then he said to him, ‘Rise and go; your faith has made you well.’
The coming of the kingdom of God
20Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, ‘The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed,21nor will people say, “Here it is,” or “There it is,” because the kingdom of God is in your midst.’[3]22Then he said to his disciples, ‘The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.23People will tell you, “There he is!” or “Here he is!” Do not go running off after them.24For the Son of Man in his day[4] will be like the lightning, which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other.25But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.26‘Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man.27People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.28‘It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.29But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulphur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.30‘It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed.31On that day no-one who is on the housetop, with possessions inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no-one in the field should go back for anything.32Remember Lot’s wife!33Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it.34I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left.35-36Two women will be grinding corn together; one will be taken and the other left.’[5] (Mt 24:40)37‘Where, Lord?’ they asked. He replied, ‘Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather.’
1Le‑a zis apoi ucenicilor Săi: – Este imposibil să nu vină prilejuri de poticnire[1], dar vai de acela prin care vin! (Mt 18:6; Mt 18:15; Mt 18:21; Mr 9:42)2Ar fi mai bine pentru el dacă i s‑ar atârna de gât o piatră de moară și ar fi aruncat în mare, decât să‑l facă să păcătuiască pe vreunul dintre acești micuți!3Fiți atenți la voi înșivă! Dacă fratele tău păcătuiește împotriva ta, mustră‑l, iar dacă se pocăiește, iartă‑l!4Și chiar dacă păcătuiește împotriva ta de șapte ori pe zi și de șapte ori se întoarce la tine și zice: „Mă pocăiesc!“, tu să‑l ierți!5Apostolii I‑au zis Domnului: – Mărește‑ne credința!6Domnul le‑a răspuns: – Dacă ați avea credință ca un bob de muștar[2], ați zice acestui dud: „Dezrădăcinează‑te și sădește‑te în mare!“, iar el v‑ar asculta.7Cine dintre voi, dacă are un sclav care ară sau paște oile, îi va zice când vine de la câmp: „Vino imediat și așază‑te să mănânci!“?!8Nu‑i va zice mai degrabă: „Pregătește‑mi să mănânc și încinge‑te să‑mi slujești câtă vreme mănânc și beau eu, iar după aceea vei mânca și vei bea și tu!“?!9Va avea el cumva recunoștință față de sclav pentru că acesta a făcut ce i s‑a poruncit? Nu cred.10Tot așa și voi: când faceți tot ceea ce vi s‑a poruncit, să ziceți: „Suntem niște sclavi netrebnici. Am făcut ceea ce eram datori să facem.“
Isus curățește zece leproși
11În drum spre Ierusalim, El a trecut printre Samaria și Galileea.12În timp ce intra într‑un sat, L‑au întâlnit zece bărbați leproși[3]. Ei au stat la distanță13și și‑au ridicat glasul, zicând: – Stăpâne Isuse, ai milă de noi!14Când i‑a văzut, Isus le‑a zis: – Duceți‑vă și arătați‑vă preoților![4] Și, în timp ce se duceau, au fost curățiți. (Le 14:1)15Unul dintre ei, când a văzut că a fost vindecat, s‑a întors slăvindu‑L pe Dumnezeu cu glas tare.16El s‑a aruncat cu fața la picioarele lui Isus și I‑a mulțumit. Era samaritean[5]. (Lu 9:52)17Isus, răspunzând, a zis: – Oare n‑au fost zece curățiți?! Unde sunt ceilalți nouă?18Nu s‑a găsit decât străinul acesta să se întoarcă și să dea slavă lui Dumnezeu?19Apoi i‑a zis: – Ridică‑te și du‑te! Credința ta te‑a vindecat.
Venirea Împărăției lui Dumnezeu și a Fiului Omului
20Fiind întrebat de către farisei când va veni Împărăția lui Dumnezeu, Isus le‑a răspuns și a zis: – Împărăția lui Dumnezeu nu vine în așa fel încât să fie observată, (Mt 24:23)21și nici nu se va zice: „Iat‑o aici!“ sau „Uite‑o acolo!“ Căci iată, Împărăția lui Dumnezeu este în mijlocul vostru!22El le‑a zis apoi ucenicilor: – Vor veni zile când veți tânji să vedeți una din zilele Fiului Omului, dar n‑o veți vedea!23Vă vor zice: „Iată‑L aici!“ sau „Iată‑L acolo!“ Să nu vă duceți și să nu‑i urmați!24Căci, așa cum fulgerul, când scânteiază, luminează cerul dintr‑o parte în cealaltă, tot așa va fi și Fiul Omului în ziua Sa!25Dar mai întâi trebuie să sufere multe și să fie respins de această generație[6].26Așa cum s‑a întâmplat în zilele lui Noe, tot așa va fi și în zilele Fiului Omului.27Oamenii mâncau, beau, se însurau și se măritau, până în ziua în care Noe a intrat în arcă și a venit potopul și i‑a distrus pe toți.28De asemenea, va fi așa cum s‑a întâmplat în zilele lui Lot: oamenii mâncau, beau, cumpărau, vindeau, plantau, construiau,29dar, în ziua în care a ieșit Lot din Sodoma, a plouat foc și sulf din cer și i‑a distrus pe toți.30Tot așa va fi în ziua în care Se va arăta Fiul Omului.31În ziua aceea, cel ce va fi pe acoperișul casei și va avea lucrurile în casă, să nu coboare să le ia, iar cel ce va fi la câmp, de asemenea, să nu se mai întoarcă la cele lăsate în urmă.32Aduceți‑vă aminte de soția lui Lot![7] (Ge 19:26)33Oricine caută să‑și scape viața, o va pierde, dar cel care și‑o va pierde, o va păstra.34Vă spun că, în noaptea aceea, din doi care vor fi într‑un pat, unul va fi luat, iar celălalt va fi lăsat.35Două femei vor măcina împreună – una va fi luată, iar cealaltă va fi lăsată.36Doi bărbați vor fi la câmp – unul va fi luat, iar celălalt va fi lăsat.37Ei L‑au întrebat: – Unde, Doamne? Isus le‑a zis: – Oriunde va fi trupul, acolo se vor aduna și vulturii.
