1Suppose one of you wants to bring a charge against another believer. Should you take it to ungodly people to be judged? Why not take it to the Lord’s people?2Or don’t you know that the Lord’s people will judge the world? Since this is true, aren’t you able to judge small cases?3Don’t you know that we will judge angels? Then we should be able to judge the things of this life even more!4So suppose you disagree with one another in matters like this. Who do you ask to decide which of you is right? Do you ask people who live in a way the church disapproves of? Of course not!5I say this to shame you. Is it possible that no one among you is wise enough to judge matters between believers?6Instead, one believer goes to court against another. And this happens in front of unbelievers!7When you take another believer to court, you have lost the battle already. Why not be treated wrongly? Why not be cheated?8Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong. And you do it to your brothers and sisters.9Don’t you know that people who do wrong will not receive God’s kingdom? Don’t be fooled. Those who commit sexual sins will not receive the kingdom. Neither will those who worship statues of gods or commit adultery. Neither will men who sleep with other men.10Neither will thieves or those who always want more and more. Neither will those who are often drunk or tell lies or cheat. People who live like that will not receive God’s kingdom.11Some of you used to do those things. But your sins were washed away. You were made holy. You were made right with God. All of this was done in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. It was also done by the Spirit of our God.
Sexual sins
12Some of you say, ‘I have the right to do anything.’ But not everything is helpful. Again some of you say, ‘I have the right to do anything.’ But I will not be controlled by anything.13Some of you say, ‘Food is for the stomach, and the stomach is for food. And God will destroy both of them.’ But the body is not meant for sexual sins. The body is meant for the Lord. And the Lord is meant for the body.14By his power God raised the Lord from the dead. He will also raise us up.15Don’t you know that your bodies belong to the body of Christ? Should I take what belongs to Christ and join it to a prostitute? Never!16When you join yourself to a prostitute, you become one with her in body. Don’t you know this? Scripture says, ‘The two will become one.’ (Ge 2:24)17But whoever is joined to the Lord becomes one with him in spirit.18Keep far away from sexual sins. All the other sins a person commits are outside the body. But sexual sins are sins against their own body.19Don’t you know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit? The Spirit is in you, and you have received the Spirit from God. You do not belong to yourselves.20Christ has paid the price for you. So use your bodies in a way that honours God.
Ebenso beschämend: Gerichtsverfahren unter Christen
1Wenn jemand von euch mit einem Mitchristen Streit hat, wie kann er da vor ungläubige Richter gehen, anstatt die Gemeinde[1] entscheiden zu lassen?2Ihr wisst doch, dass die Gemeinde Gottes einst die Welt richten wird. Und da seid ihr nicht fähig, Bagatellfälle zu entscheiden? (Ro 5:17)3Wisst ihr nicht, dass wir sogar über Engel zu Gericht sitzen werden? Dann werden wir doch auch Alltagsstreitigkeiten beurteilen können! (Jud 1:6)4Und ihr lasst solche Fälle von Außenstehenden entscheiden, die in der Gemeinde nichts zu sagen haben!5Ich sage dies, damit ihr euch schämt. Hat denn unter euch niemand so viel Verstand und kann einen Streit unter Brüdern und Schwestern[2] schlichten?6Müsst ihr wirklich gegeneinander prozessieren, und das auch noch vor Ungläubigen?7Es ist schon schlimm genug, dass ihr überhaupt Prozesse gegeneinander führt. Warum lasst ihr euch nicht lieber Unrecht antun? Warum lasst ihr euch nicht lieber übervorteilen? (Mt 5:39; Ro 12:17)8Stattdessen tut ihr selbst Unrecht und übervorteilt andere, und das unter Brüdern und Schwestern![3]9Denkt daran: Für Menschen, die Unrecht tun, ist kein Platz in Gottes neuer Welt![4] Täuscht euch nicht: Menschen, die Unzucht treiben oder Götzen anbeten, die die Ehe brechen oder als Männer mit Knaben oder ihresgleichen verkehren, (1Co 15:50; Ga 5:19)10Diebe, Wucherer, Trinker, Verleumder und Räuber werden nicht in Gottes neue Welt kommen.11Manche von euch gehörten früher dazu. Aber ihr seid reingewaschen und Gott hat euch zu seinem heiligen Volk gemacht, zu Menschen, die vor seinem Urteil als gerecht bestehen können. Das ist geschehen, als ihr Jesus Christus, dem Herrn, übereignet worden seid[5] und den Geist unseres Gottes empfangen habt. (Eph 5:26; Tit 3:3; Heb 9:14; 1Jo 1:7)
Auch der Körper gehört Gott
12Ihr sagt:[6] »Mir ist alles erlaubt!« Mag sein, aber nicht alles ist gut für euch. Alles ist mir erlaubt; aber das darf nicht dazu führen, dass ich meine Freiheit an irgendetwas verliere. (1Co 8:9; 1Co 10:23; Ga 5:13)13Ihr sagt: »Die Nahrung ist für den Magen und der Magen für die Nahrung. Gott wird ja doch allen beiden ein Ende machen.« Aber unser Körper ist deshalb noch lange nicht für die Unzucht da, sondern für den Herrn, der auch der Herr über unseren Körper ist. (1Th 4:3)14Denn so wie Gott Christus, den Herrn, vom Tod auferweckt hat, so wird er durch seine Kraft auch uns vom Tod auferwecken. (Ro 6:4; Ro 8:11; 1Co 15:15; 1Co 15:20; 2Co 4:14; Col 1:18)15Wisst ihr nicht, dass ihr samt eurem Körper Glieder am Leib von Christus seid? Kann ich die Glieder von Christus einfach zu Gliedern von Prostituierten machen? Das darf nicht sein! (1Co 12:27)16Ihr müsst doch wissen, dass jemand, der sich mit einer Prostituierten einlässt, mit ihr ein einziger Leib wird. In den Heiligen Schriften heißt es ja: »Die zwei sind dann ein Leib.«[7] (Ge 2:24)17Aber wer sich mit dem Herrn verbindet, ist mit ihm ein Geist. (Ro 8:9)18Hütet euch vor der Unzucht! Alle anderen Sünden, die ein Mensch begehen kann, betreffen nicht seinen Körper. Wer aber Unzucht treibt, vergeht sich an seinem eigenen Leib.19Wisst ihr nicht, dass euer Leib ein Tempel des Heiligen Geistes ist, der in euch wohnt? Gott hat euch seinen Geist gegeben und ihr gehört nicht mehr euch selbst. (1Co 3:16)20Er hat euch freigekauft und als sein Eigentum erworben. Macht ihm also Ehre an eurem Leib! (Ro 13:14; 1Co 7:23; 1Pe 1:18)
