Gott gibt sich Mose zu erkennen

1 Mose hütete die Schafe und Ziegen seines Schwiegervaters Jitro, des Priesters von Midian. Einmal trieb er die Herde tief in die Wüste hinein und kam an den Horeb, den Berg Gottes. 

2 Dort erschien ihm der Engel des HERRN in einer Feuerflamme, die aus einem Dornbusch loderte. Mose sah, dass der Busch brannte, aber von den Flammen nicht verzehrt wurde. 

3 »Warum verbrennt der Dornbusch nicht?«, fragte sich Mose. »Diese außergewöhnliche Erscheinung muss ich mir aus der Nähe ansehen.« 

4 Als der HERR sah, dass Mose sich dem Feuer näherte, rief er ihm aus dem Dornbusch zu: »Mose, Mose!« »Ja«, antwortete Mose, »ich höre.« 

5 »Komm nicht näher!«, befahl der HERR. »Zieh deine Schuhe aus, denn du stehst auf heiligem Boden!« 

6 Dann sagte er: »Ich bin der Gott deiner Vorfahren – der Gott Abrahams, Isaaks und Jakobs.« Da verhüllte Mose sein Gesicht, denn er fürchtete sich, Gott anzuschauen. 

7 Der HERR fuhr fort: »Ich habe gesehen, wie mein Volk in Ägypten unterdrückt wird. Ich habe gehört, wie sie wegen ihrer Peiniger um Hilfe schreien, und weiß, wie sehr sie leiden. 

8 Deshalb bin ich herabgekommen, um mein Volk aus der Gewalt der Ägypter zu befreien. Ich will sie aus Ägypten herausführen und in ein schönes und weitläufiges Land bringen, ein Land, das von Milch und Honig überfließt. Ich gebe ihnen das Gebiet der Kanaaniter, Hetiter, Amoriter, Perisiter, Hiwiter und Jebusiter. 

9 Ja, die Hilfeschreie der Israeliten sind zu mir gedrungen, und ich habe gesehen, wie sehr die Ägypter sie quälen. 

10 Darum mach dich auf den Weg! Ich sende dich zum Pharao, damit du mein Volk, die Israeliten, aus Ägypten herausführst.« 

11 Aber Mose entgegnete: »Ich soll zum Pharao gehen und die Israeliten aus Ägypten führen? Wer bin ich schon?« 

12 Gott antwortete: »Ich werde dir beistehen. Und dies ist das Zeichen, an dem du erkennen wirst, dass ich dich gesandt habe: Wenn du das Volk aus Ägypten herausgeführt hast, werdet ihr mich an diesem Berg anbeten.« 

13 Doch Mose erwiderte: »Wenn ich zu den Israeliten komme und ihnen sage: ›Der Gott eurer Vorfahren hat mich zu euch geschickt‹, und sie mich fragen: ›Wie heißt er denn?‹ – was soll ich ihnen dann sagen?« 

14 Gott antwortete: »Ich bin der, der ´da` ist. Darum sage den Israeliten: ›Der Ich-bin-da hat mich zu euch gesandt.‹« 

15 Er fuhr fort: »Erkläre den Israeliten: ›Der HERR, der Gott eurer Vorfahren, der Gott Abrahams, Isaaks und Jakobs, hat mich zu euch gesandt.‹ – Denn das ist mein Name für alle Zeiten. So werden mich alle kommenden Generationen nennen.« 

Gott beauftragt Mose, Israel zu befreien

16 »Geh nun ´nach Ägypten` und ruf alle führenden Männer Israels zusammen. Sag ihnen: ›Der HERR, der Gott eurer Vorfahren, der Gott Abrahams, Isaaks und Jakobs, ist mir erschienen und hat gesagt: Ich gebe genau auf euch acht und habe gesehen, was euch in Ägypten angetan wird. 

17 Darum habe ich beschlossen, euch aus diesem Elend zu befreien. Ich bringe euch aus Ägypten in das Land der Kanaaniter, Hetiter, Amoriter, Perisiter, Hiwiter und Jebusiter. Es ist ein Land, das von Milch und Honig überfließt.‹ 

18 Die führenden Männer des Volkes werden auf dich hören. Dann sollst du gemeinsam mit ihnen zum ägyptischen König gehen. Sagt ihm: ›Der HERR, der Gott der Hebräer, ist uns erschienen. Erlaube uns, drei Tagesreisen weit in die Wüste zu ziehen, um für den HERRN, unseren Gott, ein Opferfest zu feiern.‹ 

19 Allerdings weiß ich wohl, dass der König von Ägypten euch nicht ziehen lassen wird – es sei denn, er wird durch eine starke Hand dazu gezwungen. 

20 Darum werde ich meine Hand ausstrecken. Ich werde Ägypten schlagen und ´gewaltige` Wunder in seiner Mitte tun. Danach wird man euch ziehen lassen. 

21 Ich werde dafür sorgen, dass die Ägypter eurem Volk wohlgesinnt sind und ihr das Land nicht mit leeren Händen verlassen müsst. 

22 Jede ´israelitische` Frau soll von ihren ´ägyptischen` Nachbarinnen und von den anderen Frauen in ihrem Haushalt silberne und goldene Schmuckstücke und ´kostbare` Kleider verlangen. Das können eure Söhne und Töchter anziehen, und so werdet ihr den Ägyptern ihre Reichtümer wegnehmen.«

Der brennende Busch. Moses Berufung

1 Mose aber hütete die Schafe Jethros, seines Schwiegervaters, des Priesters in Midian. Und er trieb die Schafe über die Wüste hinaus und kam an den Berg Gottes, den Horeb. (1Mo 46,34; 2Mo 2,21; 2Mo 18,5; 5Mo 1,2; 1Kön 19,8) 

2 Da erschien ihm der Engel des HERRN in einer Feuerflamme mitten aus dem Dornbusch. Und als er hinsah, siehe, da brannte der Dornbusch im Feuer, und der Dornbusch wurde doch nicht verzehrt. (1Mo 16,7; 2Mo 3,4; Ri 6,21; Apg 7,30) 

3 Da sprach Mose: Ich will doch hinzutreten und diese große Erscheinung ansehen, warum der Dornbusch nicht verbrennt! (Hi 37,14; Ps 107,8; Apg 7,31) 

4 Als aber der HERR sah, dass er hinzutrat, um zu schauen, rief ihm Gott mitten aus dem Dornbusch zu und sprach: Mose, Mose! Er antwortete: Hier bin ich! (1Mo 22,1; 1Mo 22,11; 2Mo 33,12; 2Mo 33,17) 

5 Da sprach er: Tritt nicht näher heran! Ziehe deine Schuhe aus von deinen Füßen; denn der Ort, wo du stehst, ist heiliges Land! (1Mo 28,16; Jos 5,15; Apg 7,33) 

6 Und er sprach: Ich bin der Gott deines Vaters, der Gott Abrahams, der Gott Isaaks und der Gott Jakobs! Da verbarg Mose sein Angesicht; denn er fürchtete sich, Gott anzuschauen. (1Mo 28,13; 1Kön 19,13; Mt 22,32; Mk 12,26; Lk 12,26; Apg 7,32) 

7 Und der HERR sprach: Ich habe das Elend meines Volkes in Ägypten sehr wohl gesehen, und ich habe ihr Geschrei gehört über die, welche sie antreiben; ja, ich kenne ihre Schmerzen. (2Kön 20,5; Neh 9,9; Ps 10,14; Ps 139,1; Ps 145,18; Apg 7,34) 

8 Und ich bin herabgekommen, um sie zu erretten aus der Hand der Ägypter und sie aus diesem Land zu führen in ein gutes und weites Land, in ein Land, in dem Milch und Honig fließt, an den Ort der Kanaaniter, Hetiter, Amoriter, Pheresiter, Hewiter und Jebusiter. (4Mo 13,27; 4Mo 33,51; 5Mo 1,7; 5Mo 1,25; Ps 12,6; Jes 35,4) 

9 Und nun siehe, das Geschrei der Kinder Israels ist vor mich gekommen, und ich habe auch ihre Bedrängnis gesehen, wie die Ägypter sie bedrücken. (2Mo 1,11; 2Mo 1,14; 2Mo 1,22; 2Mo 2,23; 2Mo 3,7; Pred 4,1) 

10 So geh nun hin! Denn ich will dich zu dem Pharao senden, damit du mein Volk, die Kinder Israels, aus Ägypten führst! (Ps 105,26; Mi 6,4) 

11 Mose aber sprach zu Gott: Wer bin ich, dass ich zum Pharao gehen und dass ich die Kinder Israels aus Ägypten führen sollte? (Ri 6,15; Jer 1,6; 2Kor 3,5) 

12 Da sprach er: Ich will mit dir sein; und dies soll dir das Zeichen sein, dass ich dich gesandt habe: Wenn du das Volk aus Ägypten geführt hast, werdet ihr an diesem Berg Gott dienen! (1Mo 26,3; 1Mo 26,24; 2Mo 3,1; 5Mo 4,10; Mt 28,20; Röm 8,31) 

Gottes Selbstoffenbarung und Auftrag an Mose

13 Und Mose sprach zu Gott: Siehe, wenn ich zu den Kindern Israels komme und zu ihnen sage: Der Gott eurer Väter hat mich zu euch gesandt!, und sie mich fragen werden: Was ist sein Name? — was soll ich ihnen sagen? (Jes 52,6; Joh 17,6; 1Joh 5,20) 

14 Gott sprach zu Mose: »Ich bin, der ich bin!« Und er sprach: So sollst du zu den Kindern Israels sagen: »Ich bin«, der hat mich zu euch gesandt. (Jes 42,8; Mal 3,6; Joh 6,35; Joh 8,58; Joh 18,5; Hebr 13,8; Offb 1,4; Offb 1,8) 

15 Und weiter sprach Gott zu Mose: So sollst du zu den Kindern Israels sagen: Der HERR, der Gott eurer Väter, der Gott Abrahams, der Gott Isaaks und der Gott Jakobs, hat mich zu euch gesandt; das ist mein Name ewiglich, ja, das ist der Name, mit dem ihr an mich gedenken sollt von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht. (1Mo 28,13; 2Mo 3,6; Ps 102,13; Ps 135,13; Hebr 11,16) 

16 Geh hin und versammle die Ältesten von Israel und sprich zu ihnen: Der HERR, der Gott eurer Väter, der Gott Abrahams, Isaaks und Jakobs, ist mir erschienen und hat gesagt: Ich habe genau achtgegeben auf euch und auf das, was euch in Ägypten geschehen ist, (2Mo 2,25; 2Mo 4,29; 2Mo 4,31) 

17 und ich habe gesagt: Ich will euch aus dem Elend Ägyptens herausführen in das Land der Kanaaniter, Hetiter, Amoriter, Pheresiter, Hewiter und Jebusiter, in das Land, in dem Milch und Honig fließt. (2Mo 3,8) 

18 Und wenn sie auf dich hören, so sollst du und die Ältesten von Israel zum König von Ägypten hineingehen und zu ihm sagen: Der HERR, der Gott der Hebräer, ist uns begegnet. So lass uns nun drei Tagereisen weit in die Wüste gehen, damit wir dem HERRN, unserem Gott, Opfer darbringen! (2Mo 4,31; 2Mo 5,1) 

19 Aber ich weiß, dass euch der König von Ägypten nicht ziehen lassen wird, auch nicht durch eine starke Hand. (2Mo 5,2; 2Mo 6,1; 5Mo 6,21; Ps 136,12; Jes 63,12) 

20 Aber ich werde meine Hand ausstrecken und Ägypten schlagen mit allen meinen Wundertaten, die ich in seiner Mitte tun will; danach wird er euch ziehen lassen. (5Mo 6,22; Neh 9,9; Ps 105,27; Jes 49,24; Jer 32,20) 

21 Und ich will diesem Volk Gunst verschaffen bei den Ägyptern, sodass ihr nicht leer ausziehen müsst, wenn ihr auszieht; (2Mo 11,3; 2Mo 12,35; Ps 105,37; Ps 106,46; Phil 4,19) 

22 sondern die Frau eines jeden [von euch] soll von ihrer Nachbarin und Hausgenossin silberne und goldene Geräte und Kleider fordern; die sollt ihr euren Söhnen und Töchtern geben und Ägypten berauben. (1Mo 15,14; Hi 27,16; Spr 13,22)

Moses and the burning bush

1 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 

2 There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. 

3 So Moses thought, ‘I will go over and see this strange sight – why the bush does not burn up.’ 

4 When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, ‘Moses! Moses!’ And Moses said, ‘Here I am.’ 

5 ‘Do not come any closer,’ God said. ‘Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.’ 

6 Then he said, ‘I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.’ At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God. (Apg 7,32) 

7 The Lord said, ‘I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. 

8 So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey – the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. 

9 And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. 

10 So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.’ 

11 But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?’ 

12 And God said, ‘I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.’ 

13 Moses said to God, ‘Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, “The God of your fathers has sent me to you,” and they ask me, “What is his name?” Then what shall I tell them?’ 

14 God said to Moses, ‘I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: “I am has sent me to you.” ’ 

15 God also said to Moses, ‘Say to the Israelites, “The Lord, the God of your fathers – the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob – has sent me to you.” ‘This is my name for ever, the name you shall call me from generation to generation. 

16 ‘Go, assemble the elders of Israel and say to them, “The Lord, the God of your fathers – the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – appeared to me and said: I have watched over you and have seen what has been done to you in Egypt. 

17 And I have promised to bring you up out of your misery in Egypt into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites – a land flowing with milk and honey.” 

18 ‘The elders of Israel will listen to you. Then you and the elders are to go to the king of Egypt and say to him, “The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness to offer sacrifices to the Lord our God.” 

19 But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand compels him. 

20 So I will stretch out my hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders that I will perform among them. After that, he will let you go. 

21 ‘And I will make the Egyptians favourably disposed towards this people, so that when you leave you will not go empty-handed. 

22 Every woman is to ask her neighbour and any woman living in her house for articles of silver and gold and for clothing, which you will put on your sons and daughters. And so you will plunder the Egyptians.’

1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. 

2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. 

3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. 

4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. 

5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. 

6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God. 

7 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; 

8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. 

9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them. 

10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt. 

11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt? 

12 And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain. 

13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? 

14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. 

15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

19 And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand. 

20 And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go. 

21 And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty: 

22 But every woman shall borrow of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians.
