1Halleluja! Dankt dem HERRN, denn er ist gütig, und seine Gnade bleibt für alle Zeiten bestehen!2Wer kann schon sämtliche mächtigen Taten des HERRN erzählen, seinen Ruhm überall bekannt machen?3Glücklich zu preisen sind alle, die sich an das Recht halten, die gerecht handeln zu jeder Zeit.4Denke an mich[1], HERR, wenn du dich deinem Volk gnädig zuwendest – wenn du ihnen hilfst, dann hilf auch mir!5Dann kann ich mit eigenen Augen das Glück derer sehen, die du erwählt hast, ich darf mich mitfreuen, wenn dein Volk sich freut, darf stolz sein gemeinsam mit dem Volk, das dein Erbe ist[2].6Wir haben gesündigt, so wie schon unsere Vorfahren, wir haben Unrecht getan und gottlos gehandelt.7Schon unsere Vorfahren in Ägypten wollten deine Wunder nicht verstehen, sie wollten sich nicht daran erinnern, wie oft du deine Gnade erwiesen hattest. Und am Schilfmeer haben sie sich gegen Gott aufgelehnt.8Aber er rettete sie dennoch und stand dafür mit seinem Namen ein[3], um seine Macht bekannt zu machen.9Er wies das Schilfmeer in seine Schranken, und es zog sich zurück[4]. Dann führte er sein Volk dort hindurch, wo sonst die Fluten alles bedecken, sie gingen wie auf trockenem Wüstenboden.10So rettete er sie vor dem Zugriff dessen, der sie hasste, er erlöste sie aus der Gewalt des Feindes.11Das Wasser begrub ihre Unterdrücker unter sich, nicht einer von ihnen blieb am Leben.12Da glaubten sie den Worten Gottes und lobten ihn mit einem Lied.13Doch schnell vergaßen sie Gottes Handeln, sie wollten nicht warten, bis sein Plan sich erfüllte[5].14In der Wüste ließen sie sich von ihrer Gier beherrschen, in der Einöde stellten sie Gott auf die Probe.15Da gab er ihnen, wonach sie verlangt hatten, doch er ließ sie krank werden an Leib und Seele[6].16Sie wurden neidisch auf Mose, dort im Lager, auch auf Aaron, den heiligen Priester des HERRN.17Da öffnete sich die Erde und verschlang Datan, sie verschüttete alle, die sich um Abiram geschart hatten.18Ein Feuer brach los gegen ihre Anhänger, lodernde Flammen erfassten diese gottlosen Aufrührer.19Am Berg Horeb fertigten sie sich ein Kalb an und warfen sich anbetend nieder vor dieser gegossenen Figur.20So tauschten sie Gott, der ihre Ehre ist, ein[7] gegen das Standbild eines Stieres – eines grasfressenden Viehs!21Sie vergaßen Gott, ihren Retter, der große Taten in Ägypten vollbracht hatte,22Wunder im Land der Nachkommen Hams, furchterregende Zeichen am Schilfmeer.23Da wollte Gott sie vernichten, wäre nicht Mose gewesen, den er auserwählt hatte. Mose trat für sie in die Bresche, um Gottes Zorn abzuwenden und ihn davon abzuhalten, sie zu vernichten.24Sie verschmähten auch das herrliche Land und glaubten nicht, was Gott gesagt hatte.25Sie murrten in ihren Zelten und hörten nicht auf die Stimme des HERRN.26Da erhob er seine Hand gegen sie, um sie in der Wüste zu Boden zu schlagen27und ihre Nachkommen unter die anderen Völker zu zerstreuen[8], sie zu versprengen in fremde Länder.28Sie dienten Baal, dem Götzen, der in Pegor verehrt wurde[9], und aßen von den Opfern, die für die Toten[10] bestimmt waren.29Durch ihr Tun riefen sie Gottes Zorn hervor, und so brach eine Seuche unter ihnen aus.30Da machte sich Pinhas auf und griff richtend ein, und darum kam die Seuche zum Stillstand.31Weil Pinhas so Gottes Willen tat, fand er seine Anerkennung[11], und zwar für ewig, in allen künftigen Generationen.32Dann erregten sie Gottes Zorn beim Wasser von Meriba[12], und diesmal erging es Mose schlimm ihretwegen. (Ps 81,8)33Denn sie reizten ihn so sehr, dass unbedachte Worte über seine Lippen kamen.[13]34Auch vernichteten sie die Völker nicht, die der HERR ihnen ausdrücklich genannt hatte.35Und so vermischten sie sich mit den fremden Völkern und übernahmen ihre Lebensweise.36Sie dienten deren Götzen, und die wurden ihnen zum Verhängnis[14]. //37Nun opferten auch sie ihre Söhne und Töchter den Dämonen.38Ja, sie vergossen unschuldiges Blut, das Blut ihrer Söhne und Töchter, das sie den Götzen Kanaans opferten. So wurde das Land durch Blutschuld entweiht.39Durch ihre Taten waren sie unrein in Gottes Augen, und wie Ehebrecher brachen sie ihm die Treue.[15]40Da wurde der HERR sehr zornig auf sein Volk, er verabscheute sie, die doch sein Eigentum[16] waren.41Er gab sie in die Gewalt fremder Völker; sie wurden beherrscht von Menschen, bei denen sie verhasst waren.42Ihre Feinde machten ihnen schwer zu schaffen, und ihrer Macht mussten sie sich nun beugen.43Viele Male befreite Gott sie aus ihrer Not, doch sie beharrten eigensinnig auf ihrem falschen Weg. Durch ihre Schuld ging es immer weiter bergab mit ihnen.44Doch Gott sah ihre Not und hörte ihr Schreien.45Ihnen zuliebe dachte er an seinen Bund, so reich wie seine Gnade war nun auch sein Mitleid mit ihnen.46Und so ließ er sie Erbarmen finden bei allen, die sie gefangen hielten.47Rette uns, HERR, unser Gott! Sammle uns, bring uns zurück aus den fremden Völkern, damit wir deinen heiligen Namen neu preisen und uns glücklich schätzen, dein Lob wieder erklingen zu lassen.48Gepriesen sei der HERR, der Gott Israels, von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit! von Biblica1Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, because he is good. His faithful love continues for ever.2Who can speak enough about the mighty acts of the LORD? Who can praise him as much as he should be praised?3Blessed are those who always do what is fair. Blessed are those who keep doing what is right.4LORD, remember me when you bless your people. Help me when you save them.5Then I will enjoy the good things you give your chosen ones. I will be joyful together with your people. I will join them when they praise you.6We have sinned, just as our people of long ago did. We too have done what is evil and wrong.7When our people were in Egypt, they forgot about the LORD’s miracles. They didn’t remember his many kind acts. At the Red Sea they refused to obey him.8But he saved them for the honour of his name. He did it to make his mighty power known.9He ordered the Red Sea to dry up, and it did. He led his people through it as if it were a desert.10He saved them from the power of their enemies. He set them free from their control.11The waters covered their enemies. Not one of them escaped alive.12Then his people believed his promises and sang praise to him.13But they soon forgot what he had done. They didn’t wait for what he had planned to happen.14In the desert they longed for food. In that dry and empty land they tested God.15So he gave them what they asked for. But he also sent a disease that killed many of them.16In their camp some of them became jealous of Moses and Aaron. Aaron had been set apart to serve the LORD.17The ground opened up and swallowed Dathan. It buried Abiram and his followers.18Fire blazed among all of them. Flames destroyed those evil people.19At Mount Horeb they made a metal statue of a bull calf. They worshipped that statue of a god.20They traded their glorious God for a statue of a bull that eats grass.21They forgot the God who saved them. They forgot the God who had done great things in Egypt.22They forgot the miracles he did in the land of Ham. They forgot the wonderful things he did by the Red Sea.23So he said he would destroy them. But Moses, his chosen one, stood up for them. He kept God’s anger from destroying them.24Later on, they refused to enter the pleasant land of Canaan. They didn’t believe God’s promise.25In their tents they told the LORD how unhappy they were. They didn’t obey him.26So he lifted up his hand and promised that he would make them die in the desert.27He promised he would scatter their children’s children among the nations. He would make them die in other lands.28They joined in worshipping the Baal that was worshipped at Peor. They ate food that had been offered to gods that aren’t even alive.29Their evil ways made the LORD angry. So a plague broke out among them.30But Phinehas stood up and took action. Then the plague stopped.31What Phinehas did made him right with the LORD. It will be remembered for all time to come.32By the waters of Meribah the LORD’s people made him angry. Moses got in trouble because of them.33They refused to obey the Spirit of God. So Moses spoke without thinking.34They didn’t destroy the nations in Canaan as the LORD had commanded them.35Instead, they mixed with those nations and adopted their ways.36They worshipped statues of their gods. That became a trap for them.37They sacrificed their sons and daughters as offerings to false gods.38They killed those who weren’t guilty of doing anything wrong. They killed their own sons and daughters. They sacrificed them as offerings to statues of the gods of Canaan. The land became ‘unclean’ because of the blood of their children.39The people made themselves impure by what they had done. They weren’t faithful to the LORD.40So the LORD became angry with his people. He turned away from his own children.41He handed them over to the nations. Their enemies ruled over them.42Their enemies treated them badly and kept them under their power.43Many times the LORD saved them. But they refused to obey him. So he destroyed them because of their sins.44Yet he heard them when they cried out. He paid special attention to their suffering.45Because they were his people, he remembered his covenant. Because of his great love, he felt sorry for them.46He made all those who held them as prisoners have mercy on them.47LORD our God, save us. Bring us back from among the nations. Then we will give thanks to you, because your name is holy. We will celebrate by praising you.48Give praise to the LORD, the God of Israel, for ever and ever.
