1 مَنْ كَثُرَ تَوْبِيخُهُ وَظَلَّ مُعْتَصِماً بِعِنَادِهِ، يَتَحَطَّمُ فَجْأَةً وَلا شِفَاءَ لَهُ. 2 إِذَا سَادَ الأَبْرَارُ فَرِحَ الشَّعْبُ، وَإذَا تَسَلَّطَ الأَشْرَارُ أَنَّ النَّاسُ. 3 مُحِبُّ الْحِكْمَةِ يُفَرِّحُ أَبَاهُ، وَعَشِيرُ الزَّوَانِي يُتْلِفُ مَالَهُ. 4 بِالْعَدْلِ يُشِيعُ الْمَلِكُ الاسْتِقْرَارَ فِي أَرْضِهِ، وَالْمُوْلَعُ بِالرِّشْوَةِ يُدَمِّرُهَا. 5 الْمَرْءُ الَّذِي يَتَمَلَّقُ صَاحِبَهُ يَنْشُرُ شَبَكَةً لِرِجْلَيْهِ. 6 الشِّرِّيرُ مُقْتَنَصٌ فِي شَرَكِ إِثْمِهِ، أَمَّا الصِّدِّيقُ فَيَشْدُو وَيَبْتَهِجُ. 7 الصِّدِّيقُ يُدْرِكُ حَقَّ الْفَقِيرِ، أَمَّا الشِّرِّيرُ فَلا يَعْبَأُ بِمَعْرِفَتِهِ. 8 الْمُسْتَهْزِئُونَ يَفْتِنُونَ الْمَدِينَةَ، أَمَّا الْحُكَمَاءُ فَيَصْرِفُونَ الْغَضَبَ. 9 إِنْ خَاصَمَ الْحَكِيمُ سَفِيهاً، فَلَنْ يَجِدَ رَاحَةً، سَوَاءٌ غَضِبَ السَّفِيهُ أَوْ ضَحِكَ. 10 الْمُتَعَطِّشُونَ إِلَى الدِّمَاءِ يَكْرَهُونَ الْكَامِلَ، وَالأَشْرَارُ يَلْتَمِسُونَ هَلاكَ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ. 11 الْجَاهِلُ يُفَجِّرُ غَضَبَهُ، أَمَّا الْحَكِيمُ فَيَكْبَحُهُ بِهُدُوءٍ. 12 إِنْ أَصْغَى الْحَاكِمُ إِلَى الأَكَاذِيبِ، يَكُونُ جَمِيعُ رِجَالِ حَاشِيَتِهِ أَشْرَاراً لأَنَّهُمْ يَتَمَلَّقُونَهُ. 13 فِي هَذَا يَتَشَابَهُ الْفَقِيرُ وَالظَّالِمُ، إِنَّ الرَّبَّ يُعْطِي نُوراً لِعَيْنَيْ كُلٍّ مِنْهُمَا. 14 عَرْشُ الْمَلِكِ الْقَاضِي بِالْحَقِّ لِلْفُقَرَاءِ يَثْبُتُ إِلَى الأَبَدِ. 15 الْعَصَا وَالتَّأْنِيبُ يُثْمِرَانِ حِكْمَةً، لَكِنَّ الصَّبِيَّ الْمُهْمَلَ يُخْجِلُ أُمَّهُ. 16 إِذَا سَادَ الأَشْرَارُ كَثُرَتِ الآثَامُ، أَمَّا الأَبْرَارُ فَيَشْهَدُونَ سُقُوطَهُمْ. 17 قَوِّمِ ابْنَكَ فَيُرِيحَكَ، وَيُشِيعَ الْمَسَرَّةَ فِي نَفْسِكَ. 18 حَيْثُ لَا رُؤْيَا يَجْمَحُ الشَّعْبُ، وَطُوبَى لِمَنْ يَحْفَظُ الشَّرِيعَةَ. 19 لَا تُؤَدِّبِ الْعَبْدَ بِمُجَرَّدِ الْكَلامِ، لأَنَّهُ وَإِنْ فَهِمَ لَا يَسْتَجِيبُ. 20 أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْسَاناً مُتَهَوِّراً فِي كَلامِهِ؟ إِنَّ لِلْجَاهِلِ رَجَاءً فِي الإِصْلاحِ أَكْثَرَ مِنْهُ. 21 مَنْ دَلَّلَ عَبْدَهُ فِي حَدَاثَتِهِ، يَتَمَرَّدُ عَلَيْهِ فِي النِّهَايَةِ. 22 الإِنْسَانُ الْغَضُوبُ يُثِيرُ النِّزَاعَ، وَالرَّجُلُ السَّخُوطُ كَثِيرُ الْمَعَاصِي. 23 كِبْرِيَاءُ الإِنْسَانِ تَحُطُّ مِنْ قَدْرِهِ، وَالْمُتَوَاضِعُ الرُّوحِ يُحْرِزُ كَرَامَةً. 24 شَرِيكُ اللِّصِّ يَمْقُتُ نَفْسَهُ، يَسْمَعُ اللَّعْنَةَ وَيَكْتُمُ الْجَرِيمَةَ. 25 الْخَشْيَةُ مِنَ النَّاسِ فَخٌّ مَنْصُوبٌ، أَمَّا الْمُتَّكِلُ عَلَى الرَّبِّ فَآمِنٌ. 26 كَثِيرُونَ يَلْتَمِسُونَ رِضَى الْمُتَسَلِّطِ، إِنَّمَا مِنَ الرَّبِّ يَصْدُرُ قَضَاءُ كُلِّ إِنْسَانٍ. 27 الرَّجُلُ الظَّالِمُ مَكْرَهَةٌ لِلصِّدِّيقِ، وَذُو السَّبِيلِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ رِجْسٌ عِنْدَ الشِّرِّيرِ.

4 By justice a king builds up the land, but he who exacts gifts^[1] tears it down. (2أخ 9:8; أم 29:14) 5 A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet. 7 A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge. (أي 29:16; مز 41:1; أم 28:27) 8 Scoffers set a city aflame, but the wise turn away wrath. (أم 11:11) 9 If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet. (جا 4:6) 10 Bloodthirsty men hate one who is blameless and seek the life of the upright.^[2] (تك 4:5; تك 4:8; 1يو 3:12) 11 A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back. 12 If a ruler listens to falsehood, all his officials will be wicked. 13 The poor man and the oppressor meet together; the Lord gives light to the eyes of both. 19 By mere words a servant is not disciplined, for though he understands, he will not respond. 20 Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him. (أم 26:12) 21 Whoever pampers his servant from childhood will in the end find him his heir.^[4] 22 A man of wrath stirs up strife, and one given to anger causes much transgression. 26 Many seek the face of a ruler, but it is from the Lord that a man gets justice. (أم 19:6; إش 49:4; 1كو 4:4) 27 An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, but one whose way is straight is an abomination to the wicked. (2كو 6:14)
