1 Ein Psalm Davids, als er in der Wüste Juda war (2.Sam 15-17). 2 O Gott, du bist mein Gott: dich suche ich, es dürstet nach dir meine Seele; es lechzt nach dir mein Leib wie dürres, schmachtendes, wasserloses Land. 3 So hab’ ich nach dir im Heiligtum ausgeschaut, um deine Macht und Herrlichkeit zu erblicken; 4 denn deine Gnade ist besser als das Leben: meine Lippen sollen dich rühmen. 5 So will ich dich preisen mein Leben lang, in deinem Namen meine Hände erheben. 6 Wie an Mark und Fett ersättigt sich meine Seele, und mit jubelnden Lippen lobpreist mein Mund, 7 so oft ich deiner gedenke auf meinem Lager, in den Stunden der Nacht über dich sinne; 8 denn du bist mir ein Helfer gewesen, und im Schatten deiner Flügel darf ich jubeln. 9 Meine Seele klammert sich an dich, aufrecht hält mich deine rechte Hand. 10 Doch sie, die nach dem Leben mir trachten, mich zu verderben, sie werden in der Erde unterste Tiefen fahren. 11 Man wird sie der Schärfe des Schwerts überliefern; die Beute der Schakale werden sie sein. 12 Der König dagegen wird Gottes sich freuen: Ruhm wird ernten ein jeder, der bei ihm[1] schwört; den Lügnern dagegen wird der Mund gestopft werden.

1 God, you are my God. I seek you with all my heart. With all my strength I thirst for you in this dry desert where there isn’t any water. 2 I have seen you in the sacred tent. There I have seen your power and your glory. 3 Your love is better than life. So I will bring glory to you with my lips. 4 I will praise you as long as I live. I will call on your name when I lift up my hands in prayer. 5 I will be as satisfied as if I had eaten the best food there is. I will sing praise to you with my mouth. 6 As I lie on my bed I remember you. I think of you all night long. 7 Because you have helped me, I sing in the shadow of your wings. 8 I hold on to you tightly. Your powerful right hand takes good care of me. 9 Those who want to kill me will be destroyed. They will go down into the grave. 10 They will be killed by swords. They will become food for wild dogs. 11 But the king will be filled with joy because of what God has done. All those who make promises in God’s name will be able to boast. But the mouths of liars will be shut.

1 A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. (2Sam 16,14; 2Sam 17,2; 2Sam 17,29; Ps 78,34; Ps 84,2; Ps 143,6; Jes 26,9; Jes 32,2) 2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. (Ps 27,4; Ps 78,61) 3 Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. (Ps 69,16) 4 So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. (Ps 20,1; Ps 20,5; Ps 28,2; Ps 104,33; Ps 146,2) 5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, (Ps 36,8) 6 when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night; (Ps 42,8) 7 for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy. (Ps 17,8) 8 My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
