1Im zweiten Jahr des Königs Darius, im sechsten Monat, am ersten Tage des Monats, geschah des HERRN Wort durch den Propheten Haggai zu Serubbabel, dem Sohn Schealtiëls, dem Statthalter von Juda, und zu Jeschua, dem Sohn Jozadaks, dem Hohenpriester: (Esr 2,2; Esr 4,24; Esr 5,1; Sach 1,1; Sach 3,1)2So spricht der HERR Zebaoth: Dies Volk spricht: Die Zeit ist noch nicht da, dass das Haus des HERRN gebaut werde.3Und des HERRN Wort geschah durch den Propheten Haggai:4Ist denn eure Zeit da, dass ihr in euren getäfelten Häusern wohnt, aber dies Haus muss wüst stehen? (2Sam 7,2)5Nun, so spricht der HERR Zebaoth: Achtet doch darauf, wie es euch geht:6Ihr sät viel und bringt wenig ein; ihr esst und werdet doch nicht satt; ihr trinkt und bleibt doch durstig; ihr kleidet euch, und keinem wird warm; und wer Geld verdient, der legt’s in einen löchrigen Beutel. (5Mo 28,38; Hag 2,15; Sach 8,10)7So spricht der HERR Zebaoth: Achtet doch darauf, wie es euch geht!8Geht hin auf das Gebirge und holt Holz und baut das Haus! Und ich will Wohlgefallen daran haben und will meine Herrlichkeit erweisen, spricht der HERR.9Ihr erwartet wohl viel, aber siehe, es wird wenig; und wenn ihr’s schon heimbringt, so blase ich’s weg. Warum das?, spricht der HERR Zebaoth. Weil mein Haus so wüst dasteht; ihr aber eilt, ein jeder für sein Haus zu sorgen.10Darum hat der Himmel über euch den Tau zurückgehalten und das Erdreich seinen Ertrag. (1Kön 17,1; Sach 8,12)11Und ich habe die Dürre gerufen über Land und Berge, über Korn, Wein, Öl und über alles, was aus der Erde kommt, auch über Mensch und Vieh und über alle Arbeit der Hände. (5Mo 28,22; Am 4,9; Hag 2,17)12Da gehorchten Serubbabel, der Sohn Schealtiëls, und Jeschua, der Sohn Jozadaks, der Hohepriester, und alle Übrigen vom Volk der Stimme des HERRN, ihres Gottes, und den Worten des Propheten Haggai, wie ihn der HERR, ihr Gott, gesandt hatte; und das Volk fürchtete sich vor dem HERRN.13Da sprach Haggai, der Bote des HERRN, der beauftragt war mit der Botschaft des HERRN an das Volk: Ich bin mit euch, spricht der HERR. (Mal 2,7)14Und der HERR erweckte den Geist Serubbabels, des Sohnes Schealtiëls, des Statthalters von Juda, und den Geist Jeschuas, des Sohnes Jozadaks, des Hohenpriesters, und den Geist aller Übrigen vom Volk, dass sie kamen und arbeiteten am Hause des HERRN Zebaoth, ihres Gottes,15am vierundzwanzigsten Tage des sechsten Monats im zweiten Jahr des Königs Darius.
1In the second year of King Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jozadak,[1] the high priest:2This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘These people say, “The time has not yet come to rebuild the Lord’s house.” ’3Then the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai:4‘Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your panelled houses, while this house remains a ruin?’5Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Give careful thought to your ways.6You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.’7This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Give careful thought to your ways.8Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build my house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honoured,’ says the Lord.9‘You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?’ declares the Lord Almighty. ‘Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house.10Therefore, because of you the heavens have withheld their dew and the earth its crops.11I called for a drought on the fields and the mountains, on the grain, the new wine, the olive oil and everything else the ground produces, on people and livestock, and on all the labour of your hands.’12Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest, and the whole remnant of the people obeyed the voice of the Lord their God and the message of the prophet Haggai, because the Lord their God had sent him. And the people feared the Lord.13Then Haggai, the Lord’s messenger, gave this message of the Lord to the people: ‘I am with you,’ declares the Lord.14So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of the whole remnant of the people.
