1And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.2There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.3Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.4The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.5They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble.6The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.7The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.8He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD', and he hath set the world upon them.9He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.10The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.11And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the child did minister unto the LORD before Eli the priest.12Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD.13And the priests'custom with the people was, that , when any man offered sacrifice, the priest' servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a fleshhook of three teeth in his hand;14And he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fleshhook brought up the priest took for himself. So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither.15Also before they burnt the fat, the priest' servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have sodden flesh of thee, but raw.16And if any man said unto him, Let them not fail to burn the fat presently, and then take as much as thy soul desireth; then he would answer him, Nay ; but thou shalt give it me now: and if not, I will take it by force.17Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD: for men abhorred the offering of the LORD.18But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, girded with a linen ephod.19Moreover his mother made him a little coat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.20And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The LORD give thee seed of this woman for the loan which is lent to the LORD. And they went unto their own home.21And the LORD visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the LORD.22Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.23And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people.24Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: ye make the LORD' people to transgress.25If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them.26And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.27And there came a man of God unto Eli, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Did I plainly appear unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh' house?28And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel?29Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honourest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?30Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.31Behold, the days come, that I will cut off thine arm, and the arm of thy father' house, that there shall not be an old man in thine house.32And thou shalt see an enemy in my habitation, in all the wealth which God shall give Israel: and there shall not be an old man in thine house for ever.33And the man of thine, whom I shall not cut off from mine altar, shall be to consume thine eyes, and to grieve thine heart: and all the increase of thine house shall die in the flower of their age.34And this shall be a sign unto thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas; in one day they shall die both of them.35And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.36And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left in thine house shall come and crouch to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray thee, into one of the priests'offices, that I may eat a piece of bread.

Die Gottlosigkeit der Söhne Elis
12Aber die Söhne Elis waren Söhne Belials[3]; sie kannten den HERRN nicht. (Jer 2:8; Ho 4:1; Ro 1:21; Tit 1:16; 1Jo 2:4)13Und die Priester verfuhren so mit dem Volk:[4] Wenn jemand ein Schlachtopfer darbrachte, so kam der Diener des Priesters, während das Fleisch kochte, und hatte eine Gabel mit drei Zinken in seiner Hand; (Ex 29:27; Le 7:28; Le 7:35; De 18:3)14und er stieß damit in den Topf oder Kessel, in die Pfanne oder Schüssel: Alles, was er mit der Gabel herauszog, das nahm der Priester für sich. So machten sie es bei allen Israeliten, die dorthin nach Silo kamen. (1Sa 2:29; Isa 56:11; Mal 1:10; 2Pe 2:12)15Ebenso kam der Diener des Priesters, ehe man das Fett in Rauch aufgehen ließ, und sprach zu dem, der opferte: Gib das Fleisch her, damit man es für den Priester braten kann; denn er will nicht gekochtes, sondern rohes Fleisch von dir nehmen! (Le 3:3; Le 3:15; Ro 16:18)16Wenn der Betreffende dann zu ihm sagte: Man soll doch zuerst das Fett in Rauch aufgehen lassen — dann nimm, was dein Herz begehrt!, so sprach er zu ihm: Du sollst es mir jetzt geben; wenn nicht, so werde ich es mit Gewalt nehmen! (Le 7:23; Jud 18:25; Ne 5:15; Mic 2:1; 1Pe 5:2)17So war die Sünde der jungen Männer sehr groß vor dem HERRN; denn die Leute verachteten die Opfergabe des HERRN. Samuel wächst bei dem Herrn heran
18Samuel aber diente vor dem HERRN, und der Knabe war mit einem leinenen Ephod umgürtet. (Ge 17:1; Ex 28:6; 1Sa 2:17; 1Sa 22:18; 2Sa 6:14)19Dazu machte ihm seine Mutter ein kleines Obergewand und brachte es ihm Jahr für Jahr mit, wenn sie mit ihrem Mann hinaufging, um das jährliche Opfer darzubringen. (1Sa 1:3)20Und Eli segnete Elkana und seine Frau und sprach: Der HERR gebe dir Nachkommen von dieser Frau anstelle des Gegebenen, den sie dem HERRN übergeben hat! Und sie kehrten nach Hause zurück. (Ge 14:19; Ru 2:12)21Und der HERR suchte Hanna heim, und sie wurde schwanger; und sie gebar [noch] drei Söhne und zwei Töchter. Der Knabe Samuel aber wuchs heran bei dem HERRN. (Ge 21:1; Jud 13:24; 1Sa 2:5; Ps 127:3; Lu 1:80)22Eli aber war sehr alt; und er hörte alles, was seine Söhne an ganz Israel taten, und dass sie bei den Frauen lagen, die vor dem Eingang der Stiftshütte den Dienst verrichteten. (Ex 38:8; 1Sa 2:12; Jer 7:9; Ho 4:9)23Und er sprach zu ihnen: Warum tut ihr dies? Denn ich höre von dem ganzen Volk euer böses Handeln! (1Ki 1:6; Isa 3:9; Jer 3:3; Jer 8:11; Ac 9:4; Php 3:19)24Nicht doch, meine Söhne! Denn das ist kein gutes Gerücht, das ich höre; ihr bringt das Volk des HERRN dazu, dass es Sünde begeht! (Mal 2:8; Mt 18:7; 1Co 8:12)25Wenn jemand gegen einen Menschen sündigt, so wird Gott Schiedsrichter sein; wenn aber jemand gegen den HERRN sündigt, wer wird für ihn Fürsprecher sein? Aber sie hörten nicht auf die Stimme ihres Vaters; denn der HERR hatte beschlossen, sie zu töten. (Nu 14:22; De 1:17; De 28:15; 1Ki 8:31; Ps 95:8; 1Jo 2:1)26Aber der Knabe Samuel nahm immer mehr zu an Alter und an Gunst, sowohl bei dem HERRN als auch bei den Menschen. Die Gerichtsandrohung Gottes
27Es kam aber ein Mann Gottes zu Eli und sprach zu ihm: So spricht der HERR: Habe ich mich nicht dem Haus deines Vaters deutlich geoffenbart, als sie noch beim Haus des Pharao in Ägypten waren? (Ex 4:28; Jud 13:6; 1Ki 13:1)28Ja, ihn habe ich mir dort vor allen Stämmen Israels zum Priester erwählt, damit er auf meinem Altar opfere, Räucherwerk anzünde und das Ephod vor mir trage; und ich habe dem Haus deines Vaters alle Feueropfer der Kinder Israels gegeben! (Ex 28:1; Le 2:3; Le 2:10; Le 7:7; Le 7:34; De 33:10; 2Ch 13:11)29Warum tretet ihr denn meine Schlachtopfer und Speisopfer, die ich für [meine] Wohnung angeordnet habe, mit Füßen? Und du ehrst deine Söhne mehr als mich, sodass ihr euch mästet von den Erstlingen aller Speisopfer meines Volkes Israel! (Isa 29:13; Mal 1:6; Mt 21:13)30Darum spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Ich habe allerdings gesagt, dein Haus und das Haus deines Vaters sollen ewiglich vor mir aus- und eingehen; aber nun spricht der HERR: Das sei ferne von mir! Sondern wer mich ehrt, den will ich wieder ehren; wer mich aber verachtet, der soll auch verachtet werden! (Ex 29:9; Ps 18:25; Ps 91:14; Mal 2:8; Mal 3:16; Joh 9:31; Ga 6:7)31Siehe, die Zeit wird kommen, da ich deinen Arm und den Arm des Hauses deines Vaters abhauen werde, sodass in deinem Haus niemand alt werden soll. (1Sa 2:22; 1Ki 2:27; Ps 37:17)32Und du wirst Not in [deiner] Wohnstätte sehen bei all dem Guten, was [Gott] Israel erweisen wird; und es wird nie mehr ein Betagter in deinem Haus sein. (1Sa 4:11; 1Sa 4:22; Ps 78:59; Zec 8:4)33Der Mann aber, den ich dir nicht von meinem Altar vertilge, wird dazu beitragen, dass deine Augen verlöschen und deine Seele verschmachtet; und der ganze Nachwuchs deines Hauses soll im Mannesalter sterben! (1Sa 22:21; 1Ki 1:7; 1Ki 1:19; 1Ki 2:26; Mt 2:16)34Und das soll dir ein Zeichen sein, das über deine beiden Söhne Hophni und Pinehas kommen wird: an einem Tag werden sie beide sterben! (1Sa 3:12; 1Sa 4:11; 1Ki 13:3; 1Ki 14:12)35Ich aber will mir einen treuen Priester erwecken, der tun wird, was nach meinem Herzen und nach meiner Seele ist; und ihm werde ich ein beständiges Haus bauen, und er wird alle Tage vor meinem Gesalbten aus- und eingehen. (1Ki 2:35; Eze 44:15)36Und es soll geschehen, dass jeder, der von deinem Haus übrig ist, kommen und sich vor ihm niederwerfen wird, um einen Groschen und ein Stück Brot [zu erbitten], und sagen wird: Lass mich doch an einem Priesterdienst teilhaben, damit ich einen Bissen Brot zu essen habe!
