1 Now there was a certain man of Ramathaimzophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite: 

2 And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children. 

3 And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, were there. 

4 And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions: 

5 But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb. 

6 And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb. 

7 And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat. 

8 Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons? 

9 So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD. 

10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore. 

11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head. 

12 And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth. 

13 Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken. 

14 And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee. 

15 And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD. 

16 Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto. 

17 Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him. 

18 And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad . 

19 And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her. 

20 Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying , Because I have asked him of the LORD. 

21 And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto the LORD the yearly sacrifice, and his vow. 

22 But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and there abide for ever. 

23 And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only the LORD establish his word. So the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him. 

24 And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young. 

25 And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli. 

26 And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD. 

27 For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him: 

28 Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.

1 Und es war ein Mann aus Ramataim-Zophim, vom Bergland Ephraim, der hieß Elkana, ein Sohn Jerochams, des Sohnes Elihus, des Sohnes Tohus, des Sohnes Zuphs, eines Ephratiters. (Jos 18:25; Jud 4:5; Jud 19:1; Jud 19:16; 1Sa 1:19; 1Sa 2:11; 1Sa 9:5; 1Ch 6:34) 

2 Er hatte aber zwei Frauen, die eine hieß Hanna, die andere Peninna. Peninna aber hatte Kinder, und Hanna hatte keine Kinder. (Ge 29:31) 

3 Dieser Mann nun ging Jahr für Jahr hinauf aus seiner Stadt, um den HERRN der Heerscharen anzubeten und ihm zu opfern in Silo. Dort aber waren Hophni und Pinehas, die beiden Söhne Elis, Priester des HERRN. (Ex 23:14; Jud 21:19; 1Sa 2:12; 1Sa 4:4; 1Sa 4:11; Lu 2:41) 

4 An dem Tag nun, als Elkana opferte, gab er seiner Frau Peninna und allen ihren Söhnen und Töchtern Anteile [vom Opfermahl]. (De 12:18) 

5 Hanna aber gab er einen doppelten Anteil, denn er hatte Hanna lieb; aber der HERR hatte ihren Mutterleib verschlossen. (Ge 29:31; Ge 43:34; Job 42:10; Lu 1:7) 

6 Und ihre Widersacherin reizte sie sehr mit kränkenden Reden, um sie darüber zu erzürnen, dass der HERR ihren Mutterleib verschlossen hatte. (Ps 140:4) 

7 Und so ging es Jahr für Jahr; sooft sie zum Haus des HERRN hinaufzog, kränkte jene sie so, dass sie weinte und nichts aß. (1Sa 2:19) 

8 Elkana aber, ihr Mann, sprach [dann] zu ihr: Hanna, warum weinst du? Und warum isst du nicht? Warum ist dein Herz so traurig? Bin ich dir nicht mehr wert als zehn Söhne? (Ru 4:15) 

9 Und [eines Tages] stand Hanna auf, nachdem sie in Silo gegessen und getrunken hatte. Eli, der Priester, saß eben auf seinem Stuhl beim Türpfosten des Tempels des HERRN. (1Sa 3:2; 1Sa 3:15; 2Sa 7:1; Ps 5:8; Ps 27:4) 

10 Sie aber, betrübt, wie sie war, betete zum HERRN und weinte sehr. (Job 7:11; Isa 38:2; Jas 5:13) 

11 Und sie legte ein Gelübde ab und sprach: HERR der Heerscharen, wenn du das Elend deiner Magd ansehen und an mich gedenken und deine Magd nicht vergessen wirst und deiner Magd einen Sohn geben wirst, so will ich ihn dem HERRN geben, so lange er lebt, und kein Schermesser soll auf sein Haupt kommen! (Ge 8:1; Ge 9:15; Ge 30:22; Ex 2:24; Nu 6:5; Nu 30:7; Jud 13:5) 

12 Während sie nun lange vor dem HERRN betete, beobachtete Eli ihren Mund. (Ro 12:12) 

13 Hanna aber redete in ihrem Herzen; nur ihre Lippen bewegten sich, doch so, dass man ihre Stimme nicht hörte. Da meinte Eli, sie wäre betrunken. (Ge 24:45; Ne 2:4; Ac 2:12) 

14 Und Eli sprach zu ihr: Wie lange willst du betrunken sein? Gib deinen Wein von dir! (Pr 17:27; Ec 5:1; Joh 7:24) 

15 Hanna aber antwortete und sprach: Nein, mein Herr, ich bin eine Frau von beschwertem Gemüt; Wein und starkes Getränk habe ich nicht getrunken, sondern ich habe mein Herz vor dem HERRN ausgeschüttet! (Ps 62:9; Ps 142:3) 

16 Halte doch deine Magd nicht für eine Tochter Belials, denn aus großem Kummer und Betrübnis habe ich so lange geredet! (1Sa 2:12; 1Sa 10:27; Mt 12:24) 

17 Da antwortete ihr Eli und sprach: Geh hin in Frieden! Der Gott Israels gewähre dir deine Bitte, die du an ihn gerichtet hast! (Ex 4:18; 1Sa 20:42; Ps 20:5; Mr 5:34) 

18 Sie sprach: Lass deine Magd Gnade finden vor deinen Augen! So ging die Frau ihren Weg und aß, und ihr Angesicht war nicht mehr so wie vorher und sah nicht mehr traurig aus. (Ru 2:13; Ps 34:6; Ec 9:7; Php 4:6) 

19 Und am anderen Morgen machten sie sich früh auf und beteten an vor dem HERRN; und sie kehrten wieder um und kamen heim nach Rama. Und Elkana erkannte seine Frau Hanna, und der HERR gedachte an sie. (Ge 22:3; 1Sa 1:1; 1Sa 1:11; Ps 5:4) 

20 Und es geschah, dass Hanna schwanger wurde; und als die Tage um waren, gebar sie einen Sohn; und sie gab ihm den Namen Samuel, denn [— sagte sie —] ich habe ihn von dem HERRN erbeten. (Ge 4:25; Ge 5:29; Ex 2:10; Ex 2:22; Mt 1:21) 

21 Und der Mann Elkana zog mit seinem ganzen Haus hinauf, um dem HERRN das jährliche Opfer darzubringen und das, was er gelobt hatte; (1Sa 1:3; Ps 66:13; Ps 116:18) 

22 aber Hanna ging nicht mit, sondern sprach zu ihrem Mann: Wenn der Knabe entwöhnt ist, dann will ich ihn bringen, damit er vor dem HERRN erscheine und dort bleibe für immer! (Ex 21:6; De 16:16; Ps 110:4; Isa 9:6; Lu 2:22; Lu 2:41) 

23 Elkana, ihr Mann, sprach zu ihr: Tue, was gut ist in deinen Augen; bleibe, bis du ihn entwöhnt hast; möge der HERR nur sein Wort erfüllen! So blieb die Frau zurück und stillte ihren Sohn, bis sie ihn entwöhnt hatte. (Nu 30:11; 2Sa 7:25) 

24 Und sobald sie ihn entwöhnt hatte, nahm sie ihn mit sich hinauf samt drei Jungstieren, einem Epha Mehl und einem Schlauch Wein und brachte ihn in das Haus des HERRN nach Silo; aber der Knabe war noch sehr jung. (Nu 15:8) 

25 Und sie schlachteten einen Jungstier und brachten den Knaben zu Eli. (Lu 2:22; Lu 18:15) 

26 Und sie sprach: Ach, mein Herr, so wahr deine Seele lebt — mein Herr, ich bin die Frau, die hier bei dir stand, um zu dem HERRN zu beten. (1Sa 17:55; 1Sa 20:3; 2Ki 2:2; 2Ki 2:4) 

27 Ich habe um diesen Knaben gebeten, und nun hat mir der HERR meine Bitte gewährt, die ich an ihn gerichtet hatte. (Ps 116:1; Mt 7:7) 

28 Darum übergebe ich ihn auch dem HERRN; alle Tage seines Lebens sei er dem HERRN übergeben! — Und er betete dort den HERRN an. (Ge 24:26; Ex 34:8; 1Sa 1:11; 1Sa 1:22; Ps 66:13; Joh 4:20; Re 22:8)
