1Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,2Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,4To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,5Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.6Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:7That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:8Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:9Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.10Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:11Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.12Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.13Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;14As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:15But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;16Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.17And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:18Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;19But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:20Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,21Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.22Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:23Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.24For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:25But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
3Gelobt sei der Gott und Vater unseres Herrn Jesus Christus, der uns aufgrund seiner großen Barmherzigkeit wiedergeboren hat zu einer lebendigen Hoffnung durch die Auferstehung Jesu Christi aus den Toten, (Ps 103:1; Joh 1:13; Joh 3:3; Joh 3:5; Ro 8:16; 1Co 15:20; 2Co 5:17; Eph 1:3; Eph 1:18; Col 1:27; 1Th 4:14; 1Ti 1:13; Tit 3:4; Tit 3:5; 1Pe 1:23)4zu einem unvergänglichen und unbefleckten und unverwelklichen Erbe, das im Himmel aufbewahrt wird für uns, (Ac 20:32; 1Co 9:25; Col 1:5; Heb 9:15; 1Pe 5:4)5die wir in der Kraft Gottes bewahrt werden durch den Glauben zu dem Heil[3], das bereit ist, geoffenbart zu werden in der letzten Zeit[4]. (Joh 10:28; Ro 8:18; 1Co 1:8; Col 3:4; 1Pe 1:7; 1Pe 1:11; 1Pe 4:17; 1Pe 5:6; Jud 1:1; Jud 1:24)6Dann werdet ihr euch jubelnd freuen, die ihr jetzt eine kurze Zeit, wenn es sein muss, traurig seid in mancherlei Anfechtungen[5], (Lu 10:20; Joh 8:56; Ac 14:22; Ro 12:12; 2Ti 3:12; Jas 1:2; Jas 1:12; 1Pe 4:12)7damit die Bewährung eures Glaubens (der viel kostbarer ist als das vergängliche Gold, das doch durchs Feuer erprobt wird) Lob, Ehre und Herrlichkeit zur Folge habe bei der Offenbarung Jesu Christi. (Job 28:1; Pr 17:3; Zec 13:9; 1Co 4:5; 2Co 4:17; 2Th 1:7; Jas 1:3; 1Pe 1:5)8Ihn liebt ihr, obgleich ihr ihn nicht gesehen habt; an ihn glaubt ihr, obgleich ihr ihn jetzt nicht seht, und über ihn werdet ihr euch jubelnd freuen mit unaussprechlicher und herrlicher Freude, (Joh 14:21; Joh 20:29; Ro 15:13; Ga 5:22; 1Jo 4:20)9wenn ihr das Endziel eures Glaubens davontragt, die Errettung der Seelen![6] (2Ti 4:8; Heb 10:39)10Wegen dieser Errettung haben die Propheten gesucht und nachgeforscht, die von der euch zuteilgewordenen Gnade geweissagt haben. (Da 9:23; Lu 10:24; Ac 3:24)11Sie haben nachgeforscht, auf welche und was für eine Zeit der Geist des Christus in ihnen hindeutete, der die für Christus bestimmten Leiden und die darauf folgenden Herrlichkeiten zuvor bezeugte. (Ps 22:1; Ps 110:1; Lu 9:30; Ac 26:22; 2Pe 1:21)12Ihnen wurde geoffenbart, dass sie nicht sich selbst, sondern uns dienten mit dem, was euch jetzt bekannt gemacht worden ist durch diejenigen, welche euch das Evangelium verkündigt haben im Heiligen Geist, der vom Himmel gesandt wurde — Dinge, in welche auch die Engel hineinzuschauen begehren. (Mt 13:17; Eph 3:5; Eph 3:8; 1Th 1:5)
Ermahnung zu einem heiligen Wandel
13Darum umgürtet die Lenden eurer Gesinnung[7], seid nüchtern und setzt eure Hoffnung ganz auf die Gnade, die euch zuteilwird in der Offenbarung Jesu Christi. (Lu 12:35; Lu 21:34; Eph 4:17; Eph 5:1; Eph 6:14; 1Th 4:1; 1Th 5:6; 1Th 5:8; Tit 2:13; Heb 12:14)14Als gehorsame Kinder[9] passt euch nicht den Begierden an, denen ihr früher in eurer Unwissenheit dientet, (Ro 12:2; Ga 5:16; Ga 5:24; Eph 4:18; Eph 4:22; 1Pe 2:2)15sondern wie der, welcher euch berufen hat, heilig ist, sollt auch ihr heilig sein in eurem ganzen Wandel[10]. (Isa 6:3; Mt 5:48; Eph 4:1)16Denn es steht geschrieben: »Ihr sollt heilig sein, denn ich bin heilig!«[11] (Le 11:44; Le 20:26)17Und wenn ihr den als Vater anruft, der ohne Ansehen der Person richtet nach dem Werk jedes Einzelnen, so führt euren Wandel in Furcht, solange ihr euch hier als Fremdlinge aufhaltet. (Job 34:11; Ps 96:13; Mt 6:9; Php 2:12; Heb 12:28)18Denn ihr wisst ja, dass ihr nicht mit vergänglichen Dingen, mit Silber oder Gold, losgekauft worden seid aus eurem nichtigen, von den Vätern überlieferten Wandel, (Eze 18:4; Eze 20:18; Re 5:9; Re 14:3)19sondern mit dem kostbaren Blut des Christus als eines makellosen und unbefleckten Lammes. (Ex 14:10; Joh 1:29; Eph 1:7; Heb 4:15; Heb 9:12; 1Pe 1:2; 1Jo 3:5)20Er war zuvor ersehen vor Grundlegung der Welt, aber wurde offenbar gemacht in den letzten Zeiten um euretwillen, (Ac 2:23; Eph 3:11; 2Ti 1:10)21die ihr durch ihn an Gott glaubt, der ihn aus den Toten auferweckt und ihm Herrlichkeit gegeben hat, damit euer Glaube und eure Hoffnung auf Gott gerichtet seien. (Joh 1:18; Joh 14:9; Ro 5:2; Ro 5:11; Eph 1:20)22Da ihr eure Seelen im Gehorsam gegen die Wahrheit gereinigt habt durch den Geist zu ungeheuchelter Bruderliebe, so liebt einander beharrlich und aus reinem Herzen; (Joh 15:3; 1Th 4:9; 2Pe 1:7; 1Jo 3:16)23denn ihr seid wiedergeboren[13] nicht aus vergänglichem, sondern aus unvergänglichem Samen, durch das lebendige Wort Gottes, das in Ewigkeit bleibt. (Lu 8:11; Jas 1:18; 1Jo 3:9)24Denn »alles Fleisch ist wie Gras und alle Herrlichkeit des Menschen wie die Blume des Grases. Das Gras ist verdorrt und seine Blume abgefallen; aber das Wort des Herrn bleibt in Ewigkeit.«[14] (Isa 40:6; Mt 24:35)25Das ist aber das Wort, welches euch als Evangelium verkündigt worden ist. (Ro 10:15; Eph 1:13)
