1 Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. 2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. 3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise. 4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. 5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD. 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. 7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. 8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. 9 For he spake, and it was done ; he commanded, and it stood fast. 10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect. 11 The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. 13 The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men. 14 From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth. 15 He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works. 16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. 17 An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength. 18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; 19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. 20 Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield. 21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. 22 Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

Der mächtige und gütige Gott

1 Jubelt über Jahwe, ihr Gerechten! / Zum Redlichen gehört der Lobgesang. 2 Preist Jahwe mit der Leier, / musiziert ihm auf zehnsaitigen Harfen! 3 Singt ihm ein neues Lied, / spielt ihm schön mit Jubelklang!^[1] 4 Auf Jahwes Wort ist Verlass / und in all seinem Tun ist er treu. 5 Er liebt Gerechtigkeit und Recht. / Die Erde ist voll von der Güte Jahwes. 6 Durch Jahwes Wort entstand der Himmel, / das Heer der Sterne durch einen Hauch aus seinem Mund. 7 Das Wasser der Meere dämmte er ein, / in riesigen Becken bewahrt er es auf. 8 Die ganze Erde fürchte Jahwe; / vor ihm sollen beben die Bewohner der Welt! 9 Denn er sprach und es geschah; / er gebot und es stand da. 10 Jahwe zerbricht den Rat der Nationen, / die Gedanken der Völker bringt er zu Fall. 11 Doch sein Beschluss hat für immer Bestand, / seine Gedanken vollendet er in jeder kommenden Zeit. 12 Glücklich das Volk, das Jahwe zum Gott hat, / die Nation, die er sich als Eigentum erwählte! 13 Jahwe schaut vom Himmel herab / und sieht jeden Menschen. 14 Von seinem Thronsitz schaut er nieder / auf alle Bewohner der Welt. 15 Er hat ihnen allen ein Herz geformt, / er achtet auf alles, was sie auch tun. 16 Ein König siegt nicht durch ein starkes Heer; / ein Held kommt nicht frei durch große Kraft. 17 Das Pferd bringt dir noch keinen Sieg, / seine große Stärke hilft dir nicht. 18 Denk daran: Jahwe sieht auf die, die ihn fürchten, / die darauf warten, dass er seine Güte zeigt. 19 Er bewahrt sie vor dem Tod, / erhält ihr Leben in der Hungerzeit. 20 Auf Jahwe warten wir, / er ist uns Hilfe und Schild. 21 Ja, an ihm freuen wir uns, / denn auf den heiligen Gott ist Verlass. 22 Deine Gnade, Jahwe, möge über uns sein, / so wie es unsere Hoffnung war.

Le Dieu créateur et sauveur

1 Vous tous qui êtes justes, ╵acclamez l’Eternel! Car il convient aux hommes droits ╵de le louer. 2 Célébrez l’Eternel, ╵avec la lyre et louez-le ╵en jouant du luth à dix cordes! 3 Chantez en son honneur ╵un cantique nouveau! Jouez de tout votre art ╵afin de l’acclamer! 4 Car la parole ╵de l’Eternel est droite, toute son œuvre est sûre. 5 Dieu aime la justice ╵et la droiture. L’amour de l’Eternel ╵remplit la terre. 6 Les cieux ont été faits ╵par la parole ╵de l’Eternel, et toute l’armée des étoiles ╵est née du souffle de sa bouche. 7 Les eaux des mers, ╵il les amasse et les endigue, il tient les eaux profondes ╵comme en un réservoir. 8 Que sur la terre entière ╵on craigne l’Eternel! Qu’ils tremblent devant lui, ╵les habitants du monde! 9 Car lorsqu’il a parlé ╵cela s’est fait, lorsqu’il a commandé, ╵cela est apparu. 10 L’Eternel fait échec ╵aux desseins des nations. Il réduit à néant ╵ce que les peuples projetaient. 11 Les plans de l’Eternel ╵demeurent pour toujours et ses projets ╵subsistent d’âge en âge. 12 Heureux le peuple ╵dont l’Eternel est Dieu, oui, le peuple qu’il s’est choisi ╵pour patrimoine. 13 Du haut du ciel, ╵l’Eternel regarde la terre. Il voit tous les humains. 14 De son trône^[1], il observe tous les habitants de la terre. 15 Il a formé leur cœur à tous, et il reste attentif ╵à chacun de leurs actes. 16 Le roi n’est pas sauvé ╵par une armée nombreuse, le guerrier n’est pas délivré ╵par une grande force^[2]. (Ps 18:30; Ps 147:10) 17 Pour avoir la victoire, ╵le secours du cheval ╵est illusoire, et toute sa vigueur ╵ne suffit pas pour triompher. 18 Mais l’Eternel prend soin ╵de tous ceux qui le craignent, comptant sur son amour 19 pour les délivrer de la mort et préserver leur vie ╵aux jours de la famine. 20 Oui, nous comptons sur l’Eternel, il est notre secours ╵et notre bouclier. 21 Notre cœur trouve en lui sa joie, et notre confiance, ╵nous la plaçons dans le Dieu saint. 22 Accorde-nous ta grâce, ╵ô Eternel, car nous comptons sur toi.
