1And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!2And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.3And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,4Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?5And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you:6For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.7And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.8For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.9But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.10And the gospel must first be published among all nations.11But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.12Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.13And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.14But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:15And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house:16And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.17But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!18And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter.19For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.20And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.21And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:22For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.23But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.24But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,25And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.26And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.27And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.28Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:29So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors.30Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.31Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.32But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.33Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.34For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.35Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:36Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.37And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.
1În timp ce Isus ieșea din Templu, unul dintre ucenicii Lui I‑a zis: – Învățătorule, iată ce pietre[1] și ce clădiri! (Mt 24:1; Lu 21:5)2Isus i‑a zis: – Vezi tu clădirile acestea mari? Nu va fi lăsată aici piatră pe piatră, care să nu fie dărâmată.[2]3Apoi S‑a așezat pe Muntele Măslinilor, de cealaltă parte a Templului, și Petru, Iacov, Ioan și Andrei L‑au întrebat deoparte:4– Spune‑ne când se vor întâmpla aceste lucruri și care va fi semnul când urmează să fie împlinite toate acestea?5Isus a început să le vorbească astfel: – Vedeți să nu vă ducă în rătăcire cineva!6Vor veni mulți în Numele Meu, zicând: „Eu sunt Acela!“, și‑i vor duce în rătăcire pe mulți.7Când veți auzi de războaie și vești de războaie, să nu vă neliniștiți! Acestea trebuie să se întâmple. Dar încă nu va fi sfârșitul.8Un neam se va ridica împotriva altui neam, și o împărăție împotriva altei împărății. Vor fi cutremure, în diverse locuri, și vor fi foamete și tulburări. Acestea vor fi începutul durerilor nașterii.9Luați seama la voi înșivă! Vă vor da pe mâna sinedriilor[3] și veți fi bătuți în sinagogi. Veți fi puși să stați înaintea guvernatorilor și înaintea regilor din cauza Mea, ca mărturie pentru ei.10Mai întâi trebuie ca Evanghelia să fie proclamată la toate neamurile.11Când vă vor duce să vă dea pe mâna lor, să nu vă îngrijorați dinainte ce veți vorbi, ci spuneți ce vi se va da chiar în ceasul acela! Căci nu voi sunteți cei care veți vorbi, ci Duhul Sfânt.12Frate pe frate va da la moarte și tată pe copil. Copiii se vor ridica împotriva părinților și‑i vor omorî.13Veți fi urâți de toți din cauza Numelui Meu, dar cel ce va răbda până la sfârșit, acela va fi mântuit.14Când veți vedea „urâciunea pustiirii“[4] stând acolo unde n‑ar trebui, – cel ce citește, să înțeleagă! –, atunci cei din Iudeea să fugă în munți. (Da 9:27; Mr 11:31; Mr 12:11)15Cel ce va fi pe acoperișul casei, să nu coboare, nici să nu intre în casă ca să‑și ia ceva din ea,16iar cel ce va fi la câmp, să nu se întoarcă să‑și ia haina.17Vai de cele ce vor fi însărcinate și de cele ce vor alăpta în zilele acelea!18Rugați‑vă să nu se întâmple iarna.19Căci în zilele acelea va fi un necaz așa de mare, cum n‑a mai fost de la începutul creației, pe care a creat‑o Dumnezeu, și până acum, și nici nu va mai fi!20Iar dacă Domnul n‑ar fi scurtat numărul zilelor, niciun om n‑ar scăpa. Dar, de dragul celor aleși, pe care El i‑a ales, Domnul a scurtat numărul zilelor.
Isus vorbește despre revenirea Sa
21Dacă cineva vă va spune atunci: „Iată, Cristosul este aici!“ sau „Iată, acolo este!“, să nu‑l credeți! (Mt 24:23; Lu 21:25)22Căci se vor ridica cristoși falși și profeți falși și vor face semne și minuni, pentru a‑i duce în rătăcire, dacă este posibil, pe cei aleși.23Voi însă păziți‑vă! V‑am spus mai dinainte toate lucrurile!24Dar în zilele acelea, după necazul acela, „soarele se va întuneca, luna nu‑și va mai da lumina,25stelele vor cădea din cer și puterile din ceruri vor fi clătinate.“[5] (Isa 13:10; Isa 34:4; Joe 2:10)26Și atunci Îl vor vedea pe Fiul Omului venind pe nori[6], cu mare putere și slavă. (Da 7:13)27Atunci El va trimite îngerii, iar ei îi vor aduna pe aleșii Lui din cele patru vânturi, de la marginea pământului până la marginea cerului.28Învățați de la smochin pilda lui: când mlădița lui devine deja fragedă și dă frunze, știți că vara este aproape.29Tot așa și voi, când vedeți că se întâmplă aceste lucruri, să știți că El[7] este aproape, este chiar la uși.30Adevărat vă spun că nu va trece această generație până când nu se vor întâmpla toate aceste lucruri.31Cerul și pământul vor trece, însă cuvintele Mele nicidecum nu vor trece!
Îndemn la veghere
32Dar despre ziua sau ora aceea nu știe nimeni, nici îngerii în cer, nici Fiul, ci numai Tatăl. (Mt 24:36; Lu 21:34)33Luați seama! Fiți treji și rugați‑vă! Căci nu știți când va sosi vremea.34Este ca atunci când un om, plecat într‑o călătorie, își lasă casa, le dă sclavilor săi autoritate, fiecăruia slujba lui, și îi poruncește portarului să vegheze.35Vegheați deci, pentru că nu știți când vine stăpânul casei – sau seara, sau la miezul nopții, sau la cântatul cocoșului, sau dimineața[8] –36și nu cumva ca, venind pe neașteptate, să vă găsească dormind!37Ceea ce vă spun vouă, spun tuturor: vegheați!
