19.

1 Sei nicht neidisch auf böse Menschen und bemühe dich nicht um ihre Freundschaft! 2 Denn sie trachten nur nach Gewalt, ihre Worte verletzen und richten Schaden an.

3 Wer ein Haus baut, braucht Weisheit und Verstand; 4 wer dazu noch Geschick besitzt, kann es mit wertvollen und schönen Dingen füllen.

5 Ein weiser Mann verfügt über große Macht, und ein verständiger gewinnt immer mehr an Stärke hinzu. 6 Denn nur mit Strategie gewinnt man einen Kampf, und wo viele Ratgeber sind, da stellt sich der Sieg ein. 7 Für den Dummkopf ist Weisheit unerreichbar; wenn man im Rat der Stadt wichtige Dinge bespricht, dann muss er den Mund halten!

8 Wer nur darauf aus ist, Böses zu tun, der ist bald als Lump verschrien. 9 Wer Gemeines plant und sich nicht ermahnen lässt, macht sich schuldig; und wer für alles nur Spott übrig hat, zieht sich den Hass der Menschen zu. 10 Wenn du schwach und mutlos bist, sobald du unter Druck gerätst, dann bist du es auch sonst!

15 Lauere einem ehrlichen Menschen nicht wie ein Gottloser auf und versuche nicht, seinen Grund und Boden mit Gewalt an dich zu reißen! 16 Denn der Aufrichtige mag zwar vom Unglück verfolgt werden, aber er steht immer wieder auf. Der Gottlose dagegen kommt darin um.

17 Freue dich nicht über das Unglück deines Feindes; juble nicht über seinen Sturz! 18 Denn der HERR sieht alles, und Schadenfreude missfällt ihm – er könnte deshalb sogar deinen Feind verschonen!

19 Sei nicht entrüstet über die Gottlosen und beneide sie nicht! 20 Denn sie haben keine Zukunft; ihr Leben gleicht einer Lampe, die erlischt.

21 Mein Sohn, hab Ehrfurcht vor dem HERRN und achte den König! Lass dich nicht mit Aufrührern ein, die gegen sie rebellieren! 22 Denn ganz plötzlich kann Gott oder der König sie alle zusammen ins Verderben stürzen!

Ne t’associe pas à ceux qui veulent tout bouleverser^[2], 22 car leur ruine viendra de façon soudaine, et qui sait quel malheur l’Eternel et le roi peuvent leur causer? 23 Voici encore des proverbes émanant des sages: la partialité, en justice, est une mauvaise chose. 24 Un juge qui dit à un criminel: « Tu es innocent » s’attire la malédiction des foules et l’indignation des gens, 25 mais ceux qui le condamnent s’en trouveront bien et ils obtiendront une belle bénédiction. 26 Qui répond honnêtement donne une preuve de son amitié. 27 Assure ton travail au-dehors, prépare bien tes champs, après cela, tu pourras bâtir ta maison. 28 Ne témoigne pas sans raison contre ton prochain, et ne trompe pas par tes paroles. 29 Ne dis pas: « Je le traiterai comme il m’a traité, je rendrai à cet homme selon ce qu’il a fait. »

30 J’ai passé près du champ d’un paresseux et le long du vignoble d’un homme sans courage, 31 et voici que les orties avaient tout envahi, les ronces recouvraient le sol et le muret de pierres était en ruine. 32 En voyant cela, je me suis mis à réfléchir et j’ai tiré une leçon de ce que j’ai observé: 33 « Je vais juste faire un petit somme, dis-tu, juste un peu m’assoupir, rien qu’un peu croiser les mains et rester couché un instant^[3] », (Spr 6,10) 34 mais pendant ce temps, la pauvreté s’introduit chez toi comme un rôdeur, et la misère comme un pillard.
