7»Schreib an den Engel der Gemeinde in Philadelphia: Das sagt dir der eine, der heilig und wahrhaftig ist. Er allein hat als Davids Nachkomme den Schlüssel zum Heil.[1] Wo er aufschließt, kann niemand mehr zuschließen; wo er aber zuschließt, kann niemand mehr öffnen.8Ich weiß, was du getan und geleistet hast. Sieh, ich habe dir eine Tür geöffnet, die niemand verschließen kann. Deine Kraft ist klein; doch du hast an dem, was ich gesagt habe, festgehalten und dich unerschrocken zu mir bekannt.9Achte jetzt auf alles, was geschehen wird: Es werden Leute zu dir kommen, die sich als Juden ausgeben. Aber sie lügen; in Wirklichkeit sind sie Anhänger des Satans. Ich werde sie dazu bewegen, dass sie sich vor dir niederwerfen; denn sie sollen erkennen, dass ich dich liebe.10Du hast meine Aufforderung befolgt, geduldig auszuhalten. Deshalb will ich dich auch in der schweren Prüfung bewahren, die über die ganze Erde kommen wird, um alle Menschen auf die Probe zu stellen.11Ich komme schnell und unerwartet. Halte fest, was du hast, damit dir niemand deinen Siegespreis nehmen kann.12Wer durchhält und den Sieg erringt, den werde ich zu einer Säule im Tempel meines Gottes machen; er wird dort immer bleiben. 14»An den Engel der Gemeinde in Laodizea schreibe: Dies sagt dir der eine, der die Erfüllung aller Zusagen Gottes ist,[2] sein treuer und wahrhaftiger Zeuge. Er ist der Ursprung von allem, was Gott geschaffen hat.15Ich kenne dich genau und weiß alles, was du tust. Du bist weder kalt noch heiß. Ach, wärst du doch das eine oder das andere!16Aber du bist lau, und deshalb werde ich dich ausspucken.17Du bildest dir ein: ›Ich bin reich und habe alles, was ich brauche. Mir fehlt es an nichts!‹ Da machst du dir selbst etwas vor! Du merkst gar nicht, wie jämmerlich du in Wirklichkeit dran bist: arm, blind und nackt.18Darum solltest du dich endlich um den wahren Reichtum bemühen, um das reine Gold, das im Feuer geläutert wurde. Nur dieses Gold macht dich reich, und nur von mir kannst du es bekommen.[3] Lass dir auch die weißen Kleider von mir geben, damit du nicht länger nackt dastehst und dich schämen musst. Kauf dir Augensalbe, die deine blinden Augen heilt.19Bei allen, die ich liebe, decke ich die Schuld auf und erziehe sie mit Strenge. Nimm dir das zu Herzen und kehr um zu Gott!20Merkst du es denn nicht? Noch stehe ich vor deiner Tür und klopfe an.
