von Biblica1Nachdem Jesus seinen zwölf Jüngern diese Anweisungen gegeben hatte, zog er weiter, um die Menschen in den Städten des Landes zu lehren und ihnen die rettende Botschaft zu verkünden.
Jesus und Johannes der Täufer
2Johannes der Täufer saß zu der Zeit im Gefängnis und erfuhr dort von den Taten, die Jesus Christus vollbrachte. Er schickte seine Jünger zu Jesus und ließ ihn fragen: (Lk 7,18)3»Bist du wirklich der Retter, der kommen soll, oder müssen wir auf einen anderen warten?«4Jesus antwortete ihnen: »Geht zu Johannes zurück und erzählt ihm, was ihr hört und seht:5Blinde sehen, Gelähmte gehen, Aussätzige werden geheilt, Taube hören, Tote werden wieder lebendig, und den Armen wird die rettende Botschaft verkündet.6Und sagt ihm: Glücklich schätzen kann sich jeder, der nicht an mir Anstoß nimmt.«7Als die Männer wieder gegangen waren, wandte sich Jesus an die Menschen, die sich um ihn versammelt hatten. Dann fing er an, über Johannes zu reden: »Was habt ihr von ihm erwartet, als ihr in die Wüste hinausgegangen seid?«, fragte er. »Wolltet ihr ein Schilfrohr sehen, das bei jedem Windhauch hin- und herschwankt?8Oder wolltet ihr einen Mann in vornehmer Kleidung sehen? Dann hättet ihr in die Königspaläste gehen müssen! Dort leben solche Menschen.9Oder wolltet ihr einem Propheten begegnen? Ja, Johannes ist ein Prophet, und mehr als das.10Er ist der Mann, von dem es in der Heiligen Schrift heißt: ›Ich sende dir meinen Boten voraus, der dein Kommen ankündigt und dir den Weg bereitet.‹ (Mal 3,1)11Ich versichere euch: Von allen Menschen, die je geboren wurden, ist keiner bedeutender als Johannes der Täufer. Trotzdem ist selbst der Geringste in Gottes himmlischem Reich größer als er.12Seit Johannes der Täufer zu wirken begann, ist Gottes himmlisches Reich immer näher gerückt. Bis heute setzt es sich machtvoll durch, auch wenn andere das mit Gewalt verhindern wollen.[1]13Das ganze Gesetz und die Propheten bis hin zu Johannes haben auf dieses Reich hingewiesen.14Wenn ihr es annehmen könnt, dann begreift doch: Johannes ist Elia, dessen Kommen angekündigt wurde.[2] (Mal 3,23)15Wer Ohren hat, der soll auf meine Worte hören!«
Das Urteil von Jesus über seine Zeitgenossen
16»Wie soll ich die Menschen von heute beschreiben? Sie sind wie Kinder, die sich auf dem Marktplatz streiten und einander vorwerfen: (Lk 7,31; Lk 10,13)17›Wir haben fröhliche Lieder auf der Flöte gespielt, und ihr habt nicht getanzt. Dann haben wir Klagelieder gesungen, und ihr habt nicht getrauert.‹18Johannes kam, fastete oft und trank keinen Wein. Da hieß es: ›Der ist ja von einem Dämon besessen!‹19Nun ist der Menschensohn gekommen, isst und trinkt wie jeder andere, und jetzt heißt es: ›Er frisst und säuft, und seine Freunde sind die Zolleinnehmer und Sünder!‹ Doch wie recht die Weisheit Gottes hat, erweist sich in dem, was sie bewirkt.«20Mit scharfen Worten tadelte Jesus dann die Städte, in denen er die meisten Wunder getan hatte und die trotzdem nicht zu Gott umgekehrt waren:21»Weh dir, Chorazin! Weh dir, Betsaida! Wenn die Wunder, die ich bei euch getan habe, in den nichtjüdischen Städten Tyrus oder Sidon geschehen wären, dann hätten ihre Einwohner längst Trauerkleider angezogen, sich Asche auf den Kopf gestreut und wären zu Gott umgekehrt!22Ich versichere euch: Am Tag des Gerichts wird es Tyrus und Sidon besser ergehen als euch.23Und du, Kapernaum, meinst du etwa, du wirst zum Himmel erhoben? Nein, ins Reich der Toten wirst du hinabfahren! Wenn die mächtigen Taten, die du erlebt hast, in Sodom geschehen wären, würde die Stadt noch heute stehen.24Du kannst sicher sein: Es wird Sodom am Gerichtstag besser ergehen als dir!«
Die neue Lebensordnung
25Zu der Zeit betete Jesus: »Mein Vater, Herr über Himmel und Erde! Ich preise dich, dass du die Wahrheit über dein Reich vor den Klugen und Gebildeten verborgen und sie den Unwissenden enthüllt hast. (Lk 10,21)26Ja, Vater, das war dein Wille, so hat es dir gefallen.27Mein Vater hat mir alle Macht gegeben. Nur der Vater kennt den Sohn. Und nur der Sohn kennt den Vater und jeder, dem der Sohn ihn offenbaren will.28Kommt alle her zu mir, die ihr euch abmüht und unter eurer Last leidet! Ich werde euch Ruhe geben.29Vertraut euch meiner Leitung an und lernt von mir, denn ich gehe behutsam mit euch um und sehe auf niemanden herab.[3] Wenn ihr das tut, dann findet ihr Ruhe für euer Leben.30Das Joch, das ich euch auflege, ist leicht, und was ich von euch verlange, ist nicht schwer zu erfüllen.«
1When Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in their cities.2Now when John heard in prison about the deeds of the Christ, he sent word by his disciples (Mt 1,17; Mt 4,12; Mt 9,14; Mt 14,3; Lk 7,18)3and said to him, “Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?” (Lk 3,15; Joh 4,25; Joh 6,14; Joh 11,27)4And Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John what you hear and see:5the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers[1] are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them. A reed shaken by the wind? (Mt 3,1; Lk 1,80; Eph 4,14; Jak 1,6)8What then did you go out to see? A man[2] dressed in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.9What then did you go out to see? A prophet?[3] Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. (Mt 14,5; Mt 21,26; Lk 1,76)10This is he of whom it is written, “‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’ (Mal 3,1; Mk 1,2)11Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.12From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence,[4] and the violent take it by force. (Lk 16,16)13For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John, (Mt 11,12)14and if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah who is to come. (Mal 4,5; Mt 17,10; Mk 9,11; Lk 1,17; Joh 1,21)15He who has ears to hear,[5] let him hear. (Mt 13,9; Mt 13,43; Lk 8,8; Lk 14,35)16“But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their playmates,17“‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’18For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ (Mt 3,4; Mk 1,6; Lk 1,15)19The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds.”[6] (Mt 9,10; Mt 9,11; Mt 18,17; Lk 7,36; Lk 14,1; Lk 15,2; Lk 19,7; Joh 2,1; Joh 12,2)
Woe to Unrepentant Cities
20Then he began to denounce the cities where most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent. (Ps 81,11; Jes 1,2)21“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. (Hes 28,2; Am 1,9; Mt 15,21; Mk 3,8; Lk 10,12)22But I tell you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you. (Mt 11,21; Lk 12,47; Apg 17,31)23And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You will be brought down to Hades. For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. (Jes 14,13; Mt 16,18; Lk 16,23; Apg 2,27)24But I tell you that it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you.” (Mt 10,15; Mt 11,22)
1Sucedió que cuando Jesús terminó de dar instrucciones a sus doce discípulos, se fue de allí a enseñar y a predicar en sus ciudades.2Entonces Juan, al oír en la cárcel los hechos del Mesías, envió a decirle por medio de sus discípulos:3¿Eres tú el que ha de venir o esperaremos a otro?4Respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Id, e informad a Juan las cosas que oís y veis:5Los ciegos recobran la vista y los cojos andan, los leprosos son limpiados y los sordos oyen, los muertos son resucitados y los pobres son evangelizados,6y bienaventurado es todo el que no se escandalice en mí.
El heraldo del Mesías
7Y mientras ellos se iban, Jesús comenzó a decir a las multitudes acerca de Juan: ¿Qué salisteis a ver al desierto? ¿Una caña sacudida por el viento?8¿Qué salisteis a ver? ¿A un hombre cubierto de fino ropaje? Mirad, los que llevan ropas finas están en las casas de los reyes.9Entonces, ¿qué salisteis a ver? ¿A un profeta? Sí, os digo, mucho más que un profeta.10Éste es de quien se ha escrito: He aquí, Yo envío mi mensajero delante de tu faz, El cual preparará tu camino delante de ti.11De cierto os digo: Entre los nacidos de mujeres, no ha sido levantado uno mayor que Juan el Bautista, pero el más pequeño en el reino de los cielos es mayor que él.12Pero desde los días de Juan el Bautista hasta ahora, el reino de los cielos sufre violencia, y los violentos lo toman por la fuerza.13Porque todos los profetas y la ley profetizaron hasta Juan,14y si queréis aceptarlo, él es Elías, el que estaba a punto de venir.15El que tiene oídos, oiga.16¿A qué, pues, compararé esta generación? Es semejante a niños sentados en las plazas que, dando voces a otros, dicen:17Os tocamos flauta y no bailasteis, endechamos, y no lamentasteis.18Porque vino Juan, que no come ni bebe, y dicen: ¡Demonio tiene!19Vino el Hijo del Hombre que come y bebe, y dicen: ¡He aquí un hombre comilón y bebedor de vino, amigo de publicanos y pecadores! Pero la sabiduría es justificada por sus obras.
Ciudades impenitentes
20Entonces comenzó a reconvenir a las ciudades en las cuales se habían hecho la mayoría de sus milagros, porque no se arrepintieron:21¡Ay de ti, Corazín! ¡Ay de ti, Betsaida! Porque si en Tiro y Sidón se hubieran hecho los milagros que se hicieron en vosotras, hace tiempo que se habrían arrepentido en cilicio y ceniza.22Por tanto os digo: En el día del juicio, será más tolerable para Tiro y Sidón que para vosotras.23Y tú, Cafarnaum, ¿acaso serás exaltada hasta el cielo? ¡Hasta el Hades serás abatida! Porque si en Sodoma se hubieran hecho los milagros que se hicieron en ti, habría permanecido hasta hoy.24Por tanto os digo que en el día del juicio, será más tolerable para la tierra de Sodoma que para ti.
Venid a mí
25En aquel tiempo, tomando Jesús la palabra, dijo: Te alabo, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque escondiste estas cosas de sabios y entendidos, y las revelaste a los niños.26Sí, Padre, porque así fue de tu agrado.27Todas las cosas me fueron entregadas por mi Padre. Nadie conoce plenamente al Hijo sino el Padre, y nadie conoce plenamente al Padre sino el Hijo, y aquel a quien el Hijo lo quiera revelar.28Venid a mí todos los que estáis trabajados y agobiados, y Yo os haré descansar.29Llevad mi yugo sobre vosotros, y aprended de mí, que soy manso y humilde de corazón, y hallaréis descanso para vuestras almas,30porque mi yugo es fácil y ligera mi carga.

L’ambasciata di Giovanni il battista
1Quando Gesù ebbe finito di dare istruzioni ai suoi dodici discepoli, se ne andò di là per insegnare e predicare nelle loro città.2Giovanni[1], avendo nella prigione udito parlare delle opere del Cristo, mandò a dirgli per mezzo dei suoi discepoli:3«Sei tu colui che deve venire, o dobbiamo aspettare un altro?»4Gesù rispose loro: «Andate a riferire a Giovanni quello che udite e vedete:5i ciechi recuperano la vista e gli zoppi camminano; i lebbrosi sono purificati e i sordi odono; i morti risuscitano e il vangelo è annunciato ai poveri[2].6Beato colui che non si sarà scandalizzato di me!»7Mentre essi se ne andavano, Gesù cominciò a parlare di Giovanni alla folla: «Che cosa andaste a vedere nel deserto? Una canna agitata dal vento?8Ma che cosa andaste a vedere? Un uomo avvolto in morbide vesti? Ecco, quelli che portano delle vesti morbide stanno nei palazzi dei re.9Ma che cosa andaste a vedere? Un profeta? Sì, vi dico, e più che un profeta.10Egli è colui del quale è scritto: “Ecco, io mando davanti a te il mio messaggero che preparerà la tua via davanti a te”[3].11In verità io vi dico che fra i nati di donna non è sorto nessuno maggiore di Giovanni il battista; eppure il più piccolo nel regno dei cieli è più grande di lui.12Dai giorni di Giovanni il battista fino ad ora, il regno dei cieli è preso a forza e i violenti se ne impadroniscono.13Poiché tutti i profeti e la legge hanno profetizzato fino a Giovanni.14Se lo volete accettare, egli è l’Elia che doveva venire[4].15Chi ha orecchi oda.16Ma a chi paragonerò questa generazione? È simile ai bambini seduti nelle piazze che gridano ai loro compagni e dicono:17“Vi abbiamo suonato il flauto e non avete ballato; abbiamo cantato dei lamenti e non avete pianto”.18Difatti è venuto Giovanni, che non mangia e non beve, e dicono: “Ha un demonio!”19È venuto il Figlio dell’uomo, che mangia e beve, e dicono: “Ecco un mangione e un beone, un amico dei pubblicani e dei peccatori!” Ma la sapienza è stata giustificata dalle sue opere».
Gesù rimprovera le città impenitenti
20Allora egli prese a rimproverare le città nelle quali era stata fatta la maggior parte delle sue opere potenti, perché non si erano ravvedute:21«Guai a te, Corazin! Guai a te, Betsaida! perché se in Tiro e Sidone fossero state fatte le opere potenti compiute tra di voi, già da molto tempo si sarebbero pentite, con sacco e cenere[5].22Perciò vi dichiaro che nel giorno del giudizio la sorte di Tiro e di Sidone sarà più tollerabile della vostra.23E tu, o Capernaum, sarai forse innalzata fino al cielo? No, tu scenderai fino all’Ades[6]. Perché se in Sodoma fossero state fatte le opere potenti compiute in te, essa sarebbe durata fino ad oggi.24Perciò vi dichiaro che nel giorno del giudizio la sorte del paese di Sodoma sarà più tollerabile della tua».
La relazione personale del discepolo con il suo Signore
25In quel tempo Gesù prese a dire: «Io ti rendo lode, o Padre, Signore del cielo e della terra, perché hai nascosto queste cose ai sapienti e agli intelligenti, e le hai rivelate ai piccoli.26Sì, Padre, perché così ti è piaciuto.27Ogni cosa mi è stata data in mano dal Padre mio; e nessuno conosce il Figlio, se non il Padre; e nessuno conosce il Padre, se non il Figlio, e colui al quale il Figlio voglia rivelarlo.28Venite a me, voi tutti che siete affaticati e oppressi, e io vi darò riposo.29Prendete su di voi il mio giogo e imparate da me, perché io sono mansueto e umile di cuore; e voi troverete riposo per le anime vostre[7];30poiché il mio giogo è dolce e il mio carico è leggero».
