1 Een psalm van David. De HERE is mijn herder, dus heb ik alles wat ik nodig heb! 2 Hij laat mij uitrusten in een groene weide en wijst mij de weg langs kabbelende beekjes. 3 Hij verfrist mijn innerlijk en leidt mij op de weg waar zijn recht geldt, tot eer van zijn naam. 4 Zelfs als ik door een donker dal moet lopen, ben ik niet bang, want U bent dicht bij mij. Uw herdersstaf beschermt mij en begeleidt mij heel de weg. 5 U bereidt een feestmaal voor mij, waar mijn vijanden bij zijn. U zalft mijn hoofd, als bij een persoonlijke gast, mijn beker vloeit over van uw zegen! 6 Uw goedheid, liefde en trouw mag ik mijn hele leven ervaren en daarna mag ik voor eeuwig bij U wonen in uw huis.

1 A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. (Ps 34:9; Ps 78:52; Ps 80:1; Jes 40:11; Jer 31:10; Ez 34:11; Ez 34:23; Mat 6:33; Joh 10:11; Heb 13:20; 1 Petr 2:25; 1 Petr 5:4) 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.[1] (Ez 34:14; Joh 10:9) 3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness[2] for his name’s sake.
