1 Een psalm van David. De aarde en al haar rijkdom zijn van de HERE! 2 Hij drong het water terug, zodat droog land tevoorschijn kwam. 3 Wie kan de berg van de HERE beklimmen en binnengaan in de plaats waar Hij woont? Wie kan voor de HERE staan? 4 Alleen zij die schone handen en zuivere harten hebben, die zich niet inlaten met oneerlijkheid en leugens. 5 Zij zullen als een zegen van God zijn goedheid in hun leven ervaren. Die reikt Hij, hun verlosser, hun Zelf toe. 6 Zij mogen voor de HERE komen staan en Hem, de God van Jakob, hulde brengen. 7 Ga toch open, eeuwenoude poorten, en laat de geëerde Koning binnen! 8 Wie die geëerde Koning is? De HERE, sterk en machtig, onoverwinnelijk in de strijd! 9 Ja, zet de poorten wijd open en laat de geëerde Koning binnengaan. 10 Wie die geëerde Koning is? Hij is de HERE van alle hemelse legers. Hij is de Koning, die alle eer toekomt.

1 A Psalm of David. The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof,[1] the world and those who dwell therein, (Ex 9:29; Ex 19:5; Deut 10:14; Job 41:11; Ps 50:12; Ps 89:11; 1 Cor 10:26) 2 for he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers. (Gen 1:9; Job 38:6; Ps 104:5; Ps 136:6; Spr 8:29) 3 Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? (Ps 2:6; Ps 15:1) 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. (Deut 10:12; Job 22:30; Ps 31:6; Ps 73:1; Ps 119:37; Jes 33:15; Ez 18:6; Mi 6:8; Mat 5:8) 5 He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. (Gen 22:17; Ps 27:9; Ps 38:22; Ps 51:14; Ps 88:1; Jes 46:13; Jes 56:1) 6 Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob.[2] (Ps 14:5; Ps 27:8; Ps 105:4) 7 Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. (Ps 118:19; Jes 26:2; 1 Cor 2:8) 8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle! (Ex 15:3) 9 Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory! (Mal 1:14)
