Die Lade bei den Philistern

1 Die Philister brachten die Lade Gottes, die sie erbeutet hatten, von Eben-Eser nach Aschdod. (Jos 13,3) 2 Dann nahmen sie die Lade Gottes, brachten sie in den Tempel Dagons und stellten sie neben Dagon auf. (Ri 16,23) 3 Als die Einwohner von Aschdod aber am nächsten Morgen aufstanden, war Dagon vornüber gefallen und lag vor der Lade des HERRN mit dem Gesicht auf dem Boden. Sie nahmen Dagon und stellten ihn wieder an seinen Platz. (1Mak 10,83) 4 Doch als sie am nächsten Morgen in der Frühe wieder aufstanden, da war Dagon wieder vornüber gefallen und lag vor der Lade des HERRN mit dem Gesicht auf dem Boden. Dagons Kopf und seine beiden Hände lagen abgeschlagen auf der Schwelle. Nur der Rumpf war Dagon geblieben. (Jes 44,9; Jes 46,7; Mi 1,7; Weis 13,10)

5 Deshalb treten die Priester Dagons und alle, die in den Tempel Dagons kommen, bis zum heutigen Tag nicht auf die Schwelle des Dagon von Aschdod. (Zef 1,9) 6 Die Hand des HERRN lastete schwer auf den Einwohnern von Aschdod und er versetzte sie in Schrecken und schlug Aschdod und sein Gebiet mit Geschwüren. (Ps 32,4) 7 Als die Einwohner von Aschdod sahen, was geschah, sagten sie: Die Lade des Gottes Israels darf nicht bei uns bleiben; denn seine Hand liegt schwer auf uns und auf unserem Gott Dagon. 8 Sie sandten zu allen Fürsten der Philister, riefen sie bei sich zusammen und fragten sie: Was sollen wir mit der Lade des Gottes Israels machen? Die Fürsten erklärten: Die Lade des Gottes Israels soll nach Gat hinüberziehen. Darauf brachte man die Lade des Gottes Israels nach Gat. (Jos 13,3) 9 Doch nachdem man sie nach Gat gebracht hatte, kam die Hand des HERRN über diese Stadt und versetzte sie in gewaltigen Schrecken. Er schlug die Leute der Stadt, vom Kleinsten bis zum Größten, sodass Pestbeulen bei ihnen aufbrachen. (5Mo 7,23) 10 Darauf schickte man die Lade Gottes nach Ekron. Als die Lade Gottes nach Ekron kam, schrien die Einwohner von Ekron auf und sagten: Sie bringen die Lade des Gottes Israels zu uns herüber, um uns und unser Volk zu töten. 11 Darauf sandten sie zu allen Fürsten der Philister, riefen sie zusammen und sagten: Schafft die Lade des Gottes Israels fort! Sie soll an den Ort zurückkehren, an den sie gehört, und nicht uns und unser Volk töten. Denn ein tödlicher Schrecken lag über der ganzen Stadt; die Hand Gottes lastete schwer auf ihr. 12 Die Leute, die nicht starben, waren mit Pestbeulen geschlagen und der Hilfeschrei der Stadt stieg zum Himmel empor.

(Ri 16,23) 3 Und als die Leute von Aschdod am andern Morgen sich früh aufmachten und in das Haus Dagons kamen, sahen sie Dagon auf seinem Antlitz liegen auf der Erde vor der Lade des HERRN. Und sie nahmen Dagon und stellten ihn wieder an seinen Ort. 4 Aber als sie am andern Morgen früh sich wieder aufmachten, fanden sie Dagon abermals auf seinem Antlitz auf der Erde vor der Lade des HERRN liegen, aber sein Haupt und seine beiden Hände abgeschlagen auf der Schwelle, dass der Rumpf allein dalag. 5 Darum treten die Priester Dagons und alle, die in Dagons Haus gehen, nicht auf die Schwelle Dagons in Aschdod bis auf diesen Tag. Da antworteten sie: Lasst die Lade des Gottes Israels nach Gat tragen. Und sie trugen die Lade des Gottes Israels dorthin. 9 Als man sie aber dorthin getragen hatte, entstand durch die Hand des HERRN in der Stadt ein sehr großer Schrecken; denn er schlug die Leute in der Stadt, Klein und Groß, sodass an ihnen Beulen ausbrachen. 10 Da sandten sie die Lade Gottes nach Ekron. Als aber die Lade Gottes nach Ekron kam, schrien die Leute von Ekron: Sie haben die Lade des Gottes Israels hergetragen zu mir, dass sie mich töte und mein Volk! 11 Da sandten sie hin und versammelten alle Fürsten der Philister und sprachen: Sendet die Lade des Gottes Israels zurück an ihren Ort, dass sie mich und mein Volk nicht töte. Denn es kam ein tödlicher Schrecken über die ganze Stadt; die Hand Gottes lag schwer auf ihr. 12 Und die Leute, die nicht starben, wurden geschlagen mit Beulen, und das Geschrei der Stadt stieg auf gen Himmel.

1 And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Ebenezer unto Ashdod. 2 When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon. 3 And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again. 4 And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him. 5 Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon' house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day. 6 But the hand of the LORD was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with emerods, even Ashdod and the coasts thereof. 7 And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god. 8 They sent therefore and gathered all the lords of the Philistines unto them, and said, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And they carried the ark of the God of Israel about thither . 9 And it was so , that, after they had carried it about, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great destruction: and he smote the men of the city, both small and great, and they had emerods in their secret parts. 10 Therefore they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And it came to pass, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, They have brought about the ark of the God of Israel to us, to slay us and our people. 11 So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it slay us not, and our people: for there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there. 12 And the men that died not were smitten with the emerods: and the cry of the city went up to heaven.

The Philistines and the Ark

1 When the Philistines captured the ark of God, they brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod. (Jos 13,3; 1Sam 4,1; 1Sam 7,12) 2 Then the Philistines took the ark of God and brought it into the house of Dagon and set it up beside Dagon. (Ri 16,23) 3 And when the people of Ashdod rose early the next day, behold, Dagon had fallen face downward on the ground before the ark of the Lord. So they took Dagon and put him back in his place. (Jes 46,1) 4 But when they rose early on the next morning, behold, Dagon had fallen face downward on the ground before the ark of the Lord, and the head of Dagon and both his hands were lying cut off on the threshold. 5 This is why the priests of Dagon and all who enter the house of Dagon do not tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod to this day. (Zef 1,9) 6 The hand of the Lord was heavy against the people of Ashdod, and he terrified and afflicted them with tumors, both Ashdod and its territory. (2Mo 9,3; 1Sam 6,5; Ps 32,4; Apg 13,11)
