1Als sie sich Jerusalem näherten und nach Betfage am Ölberg kamen, schickte Jesus zwei Jünger aus (Mk 11,1; Lk 19,28; Joh 12,12)2und sagte zu ihnen: Geht in das Dorf, das vor euch liegt; dort werdet ihr eine Eselin angebunden finden und ein Fohlen bei ihr. Bindet sie los und bringt sie zu mir!3Und wenn euch jemand zur Rede stellt, dann sagt: Der Herr braucht sie, er lässt sie aber bald zurückbringen.4Das ist geschehen, damit sich erfüllte, was durch den Propheten gesagt worden ist:5Sagt der Tochter Zion: / Siehe, dein König kommt zu dir. /
Er ist sanftmütig / und er reitet auf einer Eselin / und auf einem Fohlen, / dem Jungen eines Lasttiers. (Sach 9,9)6Die Jünger gingen und taten, wie Jesus ihnen aufgetragen hatte.7Sie brachten die Eselin und das Fohlen, legten ihre Kleider auf sie und er setzte sich darauf.8Viele Menschen breiteten ihre Kleider auf dem Weg aus, andere schnitten Zweige von den Bäumen und streuten sie auf den Weg.9Die Leute aber, die vor ihm hergingen und die ihm nachfolgten, riefen:
Hosanna dem Sohn Davids! / Gesegnet sei er, der kommt im Namen des Herrn. / Hosanna in der Höhe![1] (Ps 118,25; Mt 23,39; Lk 13,35)10Als er in Jerusalem einzog, erbebte die ganze Stadt und man fragte: Wer ist dieser?11Die Leute sagten: Das ist der Prophet Jesus von Nazaret in Galiläa.
Die Reinigung des Tempels
12Jesus ging in den Tempel und trieb alle Händler und Käufer aus dem Tempel hinaus; er stieß die Tische der Geldwechsler und die Stände der Taubenhändler um (Mk 11,15; Lk 19,45; Joh 2,13)13und sagte zu ihnen: Es steht geschrieben: Mein Haus soll ein Haus des Gebetes genannt werden. Ihr aber macht daraus eine Räuberhöhle. (Jes 56,7; Jer 7,11)14Im Tempel kamen Lahme und Blinde zu ihm und er heilte sie.15Als nun die Hohepriester und die Schriftgelehrten die Wunder sahen, die er tat, und die Kinder im Tempel rufen hörten: Hosanna dem Sohn Davids!, da wurden sie ärgerlich16und sagten zu ihm: Hörst du, was sie rufen? Jesus antwortete ihnen: Ja. Habt ihr nie gelesen: Aus dem Mund der Kinder und Säuglinge schaffst du dir Lob? (Ps 8,3)17Und er ließ sie stehen und ging aus der Stadt hinaus nach Betanien; dort übernachtete er.
Die Verfluchung des Feigenbaums
18Als er am Morgen in die Stadt zurückkehrte, hatte er Hunger. (Mk 11,12)19Da sah er am Weg einen Feigenbaum und ging auf ihn zu und fand an ihm nichts als nur Blätter. Da sagte er zu ihm: In Ewigkeit soll keine Frucht mehr an dir wachsen. Und der Feigenbaum verdorrte auf der Stelle.20Als die Jünger das sahen, fragten sie erstaunt: Wie konnte der Feigenbaum so plötzlich verdorren? (Mk 11,20)21Jesus antwortete ihnen: Amen, ich sage euch: Wenn ihr Glauben habt und nicht zweifelt, dann werdet ihr nicht nur das vollbringen, was ich mit dem Feigenbaum getan habe; selbst wenn ihr zu diesem Berg sagt: Heb dich empor und stürz dich ins Meer!, wird es geschehen.22Und alles, was ihr im Gebet erbittet, werdet ihr erhalten, wenn ihr glaubt. (Mt 7,7; Mt 18,19; Joh 14,13; Joh 15,7; Joh 16,24; 1Joh 5,14)
Die Frage nach der Vollmacht Jesu
23Als er in den Tempel ging und dort lehrte, kamen die Hohepriester und die Ältesten des Volkes zu ihm und fragten: In welcher Vollmacht tust du das und wer hat dir diese Vollmacht gegeben? (Mk 11,27; Lk 20,1)24Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Auch ich will euch eine Frage stellen. Wenn ihr mir darauf antwortet, dann werde ich euch sagen, in welcher Vollmacht ich das tue.25Woher stammte die Taufe des Johannes? Vom Himmel oder von den Menschen? Da überlegten sie und sagten zueinander: Wenn wir antworten: Vom Himmel!, so wird er zu uns sagen: Warum habt ihr ihm dann nicht geglaubt?26Wenn wir aber antworten: Von den Menschen!, dann müssen wir uns vor den Leuten fürchten; denn alle halten Johannes für einen Propheten. (Mt 14,5)27Darum antworteten sie Jesus: Wir wissen es nicht. Da erwiderte er: Dann sage auch ich euch nicht, in welcher Vollmacht ich das tue.
Das Gleichnis vom willigen und vom unwilligen Sohn
28Was meint ihr? Ein Mann hatte zwei Söhne. Er ging zum ersten und sagte: Mein Kind, geh und arbeite heute im Weinberg!29Er antwortete: Ich will nicht. Später aber reute es ihn und er ging hinaus.30Da wandte er sich an den zweiten und sagte zu ihm dasselbe. Dieser antwortete: Ja, Herr - und ging nicht hin.31Wer von den beiden hat den Willen seines Vaters erfüllt? Sie antworteten: Der erste. Da sagte Jesus zu ihnen: Amen, ich sage euch: Die Zöllner und die Dirnen gelangen eher in das Reich Gottes als ihr.32Denn Johannes ist zu euch gekommen auf dem Weg der Gerechtigkeit und ihr habt ihm nicht geglaubt; aber die Zöllner und die Dirnen haben ihm geglaubt. Ihr habt es gesehen und doch habt ihr nicht bereut und ihm nicht geglaubt. (Lk 7,29)
Das Gleichnis von den Winzern
33Hört noch ein anderes Gleichnis: Es war ein Gutsbesitzer, der legte einen Weinberg an, zog ringsherum einen Zaun, hob eine Kelter aus und baute einen Turm. Dann verpachtete er den Weinberg an Winzer und reiste in ein anderes Land. (Jes 5,1; Mk 12,1; Lk 20,9)34Als nun die Erntezeit kam, schickte er seine Knechte zu den Winzern, um seine Früchte holen zu lassen.35Die Winzer aber packten seine Knechte; den einen prügelten sie, den andern brachten sie um, wieder einen anderen steinigten sie. (Mt 22,6)36Darauf schickte er andere Knechte, mehr als das erste Mal; mit ihnen machten sie es genauso.37Zuletzt sandte er seinen Sohn zu ihnen; denn er dachte: Vor meinem Sohn werden sie Achtung haben. (Hebr 1,1)38Als die Winzer den Sohn sahen, sagten sie zueinander: Das ist der Erbe. Auf, wir wollen ihn umbringen, damit wir sein Erbe in Besitz nehmen.39Und sie packten ihn, warfen ihn aus dem Weinberg hinaus und brachten ihn um.40Wenn nun der Herr des Weinbergs kommt: Was wird er mit jenen Winzern tun?41Sie sagten zu ihm: Er wird diese bösen Menschen vernichten und den Weinberg an andere Winzer verpachten, die ihm die Früchte abliefern, wenn es Zeit dafür ist.42Und Jesus sagte zu ihnen: Habt ihr nie in der Schrift gelesen:
Der Stein, den die Bauleute verworfen haben, / er ist zum Eckstein geworden; / vom Herrn ist das geschehen / und es ist wunderbar in unseren Augen? (Ps 118,22)43Darum sage ich euch: Das Reich Gottes wird euch weggenommen und einem Volk gegeben werden, das die Früchte des Reiches Gottes bringt. (Mt 8,12)44Und wer auf diesen Stein fällt, wird zerschellen; auf wen der Stein aber fällt, den wird er zermalmen.45Als die Hohepriester und die Pharisäer seine Gleichnisse hörten, merkten sie, dass er von ihnen sprach.46Sie suchten ihn zu ergreifen; aber sie fürchteten die Menge, weil sie ihn für einen Propheten hielt. Jesus Cleanses the Temple
12And Jesus entered the temple[2] and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. Jesus Curses the Fig Tree
18In the morning, as he was returning to the city, he became hungry. (Mt 4,2; Mk 11,12; Mk 11,20)19And seeing a fig tree by the wayside, he went to it and found nothing on it but only leaves. And he said to it, “May no fruit ever come from you again!” And the fig tree withered at once. (Lk 13,6)20When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree wither at once?”21And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. The Authority of Jesus Challenged
23And when he entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching, and said, “By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?” (2Mo 2,14; Mt 26,55; Mk 11,27; Lk 20,1; Joh 1,25; Apg 4,7)24Jesus answered them, “I also will ask you one question, and if you tell me the answer, then I also will tell you by what authority I do these things.25The baptism of John, from where did it come? The Parable of the Two Sons
28“What do you think? A man had two sons. And he went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’ (Mt 17,25; Mt 18,12; Mt 20,1; Mt 21,33)29And he answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind and went. The Parable of the Tenants
33“Hear another parable. There was a master of a house who planted a vineyard and put a fence around it and dug a winepress in it and built a tower and leased it to tenants, and went into another country. Ingresso di Gesù in Gerusalemme
1Quando furono vicini a Gerusalemme e giunsero a Betfage, presso il monte degli Ulivi, Gesù mandò due discepoli,2dicendo loro: «Andate nella borgata che è di fronte a voi; subito troverete un’asina legata e un puledro con essa; scioglieteli e conduceteli da me.3Se qualcuno vi dice qualcosa, direte che il Signore ne ha bisogno, e subito li manderà».4Questo avvenne affinché si adempisse la parola del profeta:5«Dite alla figlia di Sion: “Ecco, il tuo re viene a te, mansueto e montato sopra un’asina, sopra un asinello, puledro d’asina”»[1].6I discepoli andarono e fecero come Gesù aveva loro ordinato;7condussero l’asina e il puledro, vi misero sopra i loro mantelli e Gesù vi si pose a sedere.8La maggior parte della folla stese i mantelli sulla via; altri tagliavano dei rami dagli alberi e li stendevano sulla via.9Le folle che lo precedevano e quelle che seguivano gridavano: «Osanna[2] al Figlio di Davide! Benedetto colui che viene nel nome del Signore![3] Osanna nei luoghi altissimi!»10Quando fu entrato in Gerusalemme, tutta la città fu scossa, e si diceva: «Chi è costui?»11E le folle dicevano: «Questi è Gesù, il profeta che viene da Nazaret di Galilea».
Gesù scaccia i mercanti dal tempio
12Gesù entrò nel tempio e ne scacciò tutti quelli che vendevano e compravano; rovesciò le tavole dei cambiamonete e le sedie dei venditori di colombi.13E disse loro: «È scritto: “La mia casa sarà chiamata casa di preghiera”[4], ma voi ne fate un covo di ladri[5]».14Allora vennero a lui, nel tempio, dei ciechi e degli zoppi, ed egli li guarì.15Ma i capi dei sacerdoti e gli scribi, vedute le meraviglie che aveva fatte e i bambini che gridavano nel tempio: «Osanna al Figlio di Davide!», ne furono indignati16e gli dissero: «Odi tu quello che dicono costoro?» Gesù disse loro: «Sì. Non avete mai letto: “Dalla bocca dei bambini e dei lattanti hai tratto lode”[6]?»17E, lasciatili, se ne andò fuori dalla città, a Betania, dove passò la notte.
Il fico sterile
18La mattina, tornando in città, ebbe fame.19E, vedendo un fico sulla strada, gli si accostò, ma non vi trovò altro che foglie; e gli disse: «Mai più nasca frutto da te, in eterno». E subito il fico si seccò.20I discepoli, veduto ciò, si meravigliarono, dicendo: «Come mai il fico è diventato secco in un attimo?»21Gesù rispose loro: «Io vi dico in verità: se aveste fede e non dubitaste, non soltanto fareste quello che è stato fatto al fico; ma se anche diceste a questo monte: “Togliti di là e gettati nel mare”, sarebbe fatto.22Tutte le cose che domanderete in preghiera, se avete fede, le otterrete».
Dubbio sull’autorità di Gesù
23Quando giunse nel tempio, i capi dei sacerdoti e gli anziani del popolo si accostarono a lui, mentre egli insegnava, e gli dissero: «Con quale autorità fai tu queste cose? E chi ti ha dato questa autorità?»24Gesù rispose loro: «Anch’io vi farò una domanda; se voi mi rispondete, vi dirò anch’io con quale autorità faccio queste cose.25Il battesimo di Giovanni da dove veniva? Dal cielo o dagli uomini?» Ed essi ragionavano tra di loro: «Se diciamo: “dal cielo”, egli ci dirà: “Perché dunque non gli credeste?”26Se diciamo: “dagli uomini”, temiamo la folla, perché tutti ritengono Giovanni un profeta».27Risposero dunque a Gesù: «Non lo sappiamo». E anch’egli disse loro: «E neppure io vi dico con quale autorità faccio queste cose.
Parabola dei due figli
28«Che ve ne pare? Un uomo aveva due figli. Avvicinatosi al primo, disse: “Figliolo, va’ a lavorare nella vigna oggi”.29Ed egli rispose: “Non ne ho voglia”; ma poi, pentitosi, vi andò.30Avvicinatosi all’altro, disse la stessa cosa. Egli rispose: “Vado, signore”; ma non vi andò.31Quale dei due fece la volontà del padre?» Essi gli dissero: «Il primo». E Gesù a loro: «Io vi dico in verità: i pubblicani e le prostitute entrano prima di voi nel regno di Dio.32Poiché Giovanni è venuto a voi per la via della giustizia, e voi non gli avete creduto; ma i pubblicani e le prostitute gli hanno creduto; e voi, che avete visto questo, non vi siete pentiti neppure dopo per credere a lui.
Parabola dei malvagi vignaiuoli
33«Udite un’altra parabola: c’era un padrone di casa, il quale piantò una vigna, le fece attorno una siepe, vi scavò una buca per pigiare l’uva e vi costruì una torre[7]; poi l’affittò a dei vignaiuoli e se ne andò in viaggio.34Quando fu vicina la stagione dei frutti, mandò i suoi servi dai vignaiuoli per riceverne i frutti.35Ma i vignaiuoli presero i servi e ne picchiarono uno, ne uccisero un altro e un altro lo lapidarono.36Da capo mandò degli altri servi, in numero maggiore dei primi; ma quelli li trattarono allo stesso modo.37Alla fine mandò loro suo figlio, dicendo: “Avranno rispetto per mio figlio”.38Ma i vignaiuoli, veduto il figlio, dissero tra di loro: “Costui è l’erede; venite, uccidiamolo e facciamo nostra la sua eredità”.39Lo presero, lo cacciarono fuori dalla vigna e lo uccisero.40Quando verrà il padrone della vigna, che farà a quei vignaiuoli?»41Essi gli risposero: «Li farà perire malamente, quei malvagi, e affitterà la vigna ad altri vignaiuoli i quali gli renderanno i frutti a suo tempo».42Gesù disse loro: «Non avete mai letto nelle Scritture: “La pietra che i costruttori hanno rifiutata è diventata pietra angolare; ciò è stato fatto dal Signore, ed è cosa meravigliosa agli occhi nostri”[8]?43Perciò vi dico che il regno di Dio vi sarà tolto e sarà dato a gente che ne faccia i frutti.44{Chi cadrà su questa pietra sarà sfracellato; ed essa stritolerà colui sul quale cadrà».}45I capi dei sacerdoti e i farisei, udite le sue parabole, capirono che parlava di loro;46e cercavano di prenderlo, ma ebbero paura della folla, che lo riteneva un profeta.
