1Der HERR sprach zu Abram: Geh fort aus deinem Land, aus deiner Verwandtschaft und aus deinem Vaterhaus in das Land, das ich dir zeigen werde! (Apg 7,3)2Ich werde dich zu einem großen Volk machen, dich segnen und deinen Namen groß machen. Ein Segen sollst du sein.3Ich werde segnen, die dich segnen; wer dich verwünscht, den werde ich verfluchen. Durch dich sollen alle Sippen der Erde Segen erlangen. (1Mo 18,18; 1Mo 22,18; 1Mo 26,4; 1Mo 28,14; Gal 3,8; Sir 44,21)4Da ging Abram, wie der HERR ihm gesagt hatte, und mit ihm ging auch Lot. Abram war fünfundsiebzig Jahre alt, als er von Haran auszog.5Abram nahm seine Frau Sarai mit, seinen Neffen Lot und alle ihre Habe, die sie erworben hatten, und alle, die sie in Haran hinzugewonnen hatten. Sie zogen aus, um in das Land Kanaan zu gehen, und sie kamen in das Land Kanaan.6Abram zog durch das Land bis zur Stätte von Sichem, bis zur Orakeleiche. Die Kanaaniter waren damals im Land.7Der HERR erschien Abram und sprach: Deinen Nachkommen gebe ich dieses Land. Dort baute er dem HERRN, der ihm erschienen war, einen Altar.8Von da brach er auf zu dem Gebirge östlich von Bet-El und schlug sein Zelt so auf, dass er Bet-El im Westen und Ai im Osten hatte. Dort baute er dem HERRN einen Altar und rief den Namen des HERRN an. (1Mo 4,26; 1Mo 8,20)9Dann zog Abram immer weiter, dem Negeb zu.
Abraham und Sara in Ägypten
10Es kam aber eine Hungersnot über das Land. Da zog Abram nach Ägypten hinab, um sich dort als Fremder niederzulassen; denn die Hungersnot lastete schwer auf dem Land. (1Mo 20,1; 1Mo 26,1)11Als er sich Ägypten näherte, sagte er zu seiner Frau Sarai: Ich weiß, du bist eine Frau von großer Schönheit.12Wenn dich die Ägypter sehen, werden sie sagen: Das ist seine Frau! Und sie werden mich töten, dich aber am Leben lassen.13Sag doch, du seist meine Schwester, damit es mir deinetwegen gut geht und ich um deinetwillen am Leben bleibe.14Als Abram nach Ägypten kam, sahen die Ägypter, dass die Frau überaus schön war.15Die Beamten des Pharao sahen sie und rühmten sie vor dem Pharao. Da wurde die Frau in das Haus des Pharao genommen.16Er behandelte Abram ihretwegen gut: Er bekam Schafe und Ziegen, Rinder und Esel, Knechte und Mägde, Eselinnen und Kamele.17Doch der HERR schlug den Pharao und sein Haus wegen Sarai, der Frau Abrams, mit schweren Plagen. (2Mo 11,1)18Da rief der Pharao Abram und sagte: Was hast du mir da angetan? Warum hast du mir nicht kundgetan, dass sie deine Frau ist?19Warum hast du behauptet: Sie ist meine Schwester, sodass ich sie mir zur Frau nahm? 10Es entstand aber eine Hungersnot im Land; da zog Abram nach Ägypten hinab, um dort als Fremder zu leben, denn die Hungersnot lag schwer auf dem Land. Abram und Sarai in Ägypten
10Es kam aber eine Hungersnot in das Land. Da zog Abram hinab nach Ägypten, dass er sich dort als ein Fremdling aufhielte; denn der Hunger war groß im Lande. (1Mo 20,1; 1Mo 26,7)11Und als er nahe an Ägypten war, sprach er zu Sarai, seiner Frau: Siehe, ich weiß, dass du eine schöne Frau bist.12Wenn dich nun die Ägypter sehen, so werden sie sagen: Das ist seine Frau, und werden mich umbringen und dich leben lassen.13So sage doch, du seist meine Schwester, auf dass mir’s wohlgehe um deinetwillen und ich am Leben bleibe um deinetwillen.14Als nun Abram nach Ägypten kam, sahen die Ägypter, dass seine Frau sehr schön war.15Und die Großen des Pharao sahen sie und priesen sie vor ihm. Da wurde sie in das Haus des Pharao gebracht.16Und er tat Abram Gutes um ihretwillen; und er bekam Schafe, Rinder, Esel, Knechte und Mägde, Eselinnen und Kamele.17Aber der HERR plagte den Pharao und sein Haus mit großen Plagen um Sarais, Abrams Frau, willen.18Da rief der Pharao Abram zu sich und sprach zu ihm: Warum hast du mir das angetan? Abram in Ägypten
10Da aber eine Hungersnot im Land herrschte, zog Abram nach Ägypten hinab, um sich dort aufzuhalten; denn die Hungersnot lastete schwer auf dem Land. 1The LORD had said to Abram, ‘Go from your country, your people and your father’s family. Go to the land I will show you.2‘I will make you into a great nation. And I will bless you. I will make your name great. You will be a blessing to others.3I will bless those who bless you. I will put a curse on anyone who puts a curse on you. All nations on earth will be blessed because of you.’4So Abram went, just as the LORD had told him. Lot went with him. Abram was 75 years old when he left Harran.5He took his wife Sarai and his nephew Lot. They took all the people and possessions they had acquired in Harran. They started out for the land of Canaan. And they arrived there.6Abram travelled through the land. He went as far as the large tree of Moreh at Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were living in the land.7The LORD appeared to Abram at Shechem. He said, ‘I will give this land to your family who comes after you.’ So Abram built an altar there to honour the LORD, who had appeared to him.8From there, Abram went on towards the hills east of Bethel. He set up his tent there. Bethel was to the west, and Ai was to the east. Abram built an altar there and called on the name of the LORD.9Then Abram left and continued south towards the Negev Desert.
Abram goes to Egypt
10At that time there was not enough food in the land. So Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while.11As he was about to enter Egypt, he spoke to his wife Sarai. He said, ‘I know what a beautiful woman you are.12The people of Egypt will see you and say, “This is his wife.” Then they will kill me. But they will let you live.13Tell them you are my sister. Then I’ll be treated well and my life will be spared because of you.’14Abram arrived in Egypt. The Egyptians saw that Sarai was a very beautiful woman.15When Pharaoh’s officials saw her, they told Pharaoh how beautiful she was. So she was taken into his palace.16Pharaoh treated Abram well because of her. So Abram gained more sheep and cattle and male and female donkeys. He also gained more male and female servants and some camels.17But the LORD sent terrible diseases on Pharaoh and everyone in his palace. The LORD did it because of Abram’s wife Sarai.18So Pharaoh sent for Abram. ‘What have you done to me?’ he said. ‘Why didn’t you tell me she was your wife?19Why did you say she was your sister? That’s why I took her to be my wife. Now then, here’s your wife. Take her and go!’20Then Pharaoh gave orders to his men about Abram. They sent him on his way. So he left with his wife and everything he had.

1Hospodin Bůh řekl Abramovi: „Odejdi ze své země, ze svého příbuzenstva a ze svého otcovského domu do země, kterou ti ukážu.2Učiním z tebe veliký národ a požehnám ti. Zjednám ti veliké jméno a budeš požehnáním.3Požehnám těm, kdo ti žehnají, a toho, kdo ti zlořečí, prokleji. Všechny rodiny země dojdou požehnání v tobě.“4Abram tedy šel, jak mu řekl Hospodin, a šel s ním i Lot. Když odešel z Cháranu, bylo Abramovi sedmdesát pět let.5Abram s sebou vzal svou ženu Saraj, svého synovce Lota a všechen majetek, jehož nabyli, i čeleď, kterou získali v Cháranu. Vydali se na cestu do kanaánské země a přišli do ní.6Abram procházel tou zemí až k místu zvanému Šechem, až k dubu More. (V zemi tenkrát žili Kanaánci.)7Tehdy se Abramovi ukázal Hospodin a řekl: „Tuto zem dám tvému semeni.“ Abram tam proto postavil oltář Hospodinu, jenž se mu ukázal.8Odtud se přesunul k horám na východ od Bet-elu. Vztyčil svůj stan mezi Bet-elem na západě a Ajem na východě, postavil tam oltář Hospodinu a vzýval Hospodinovo jméno.9Potom Abram pokračoval v cestě a putoval na jih, k Negevu.
Abraham v Egyptě
10V zemi pak nastal hlad, a tak se Abram vydal dolů do Egypta. Chtěl tam nějakou dobu pobýt, neboť v zemi panoval krutý hlad.11Cestou, když se blížil k Egyptu, řekl své ženě Saraj: „Pohleď, vím, jak překrásná jsi žena.12Až tě Egypťané uvidí, řeknou: ‚To je jeho žena!‘ a zabijí mě, ale tebe nechají naživu.13Říkej prosím, že jsi má sestra, aby se mi díky tobě vedlo dobře a abych díky tobě zůstal naživu.“14Abram tedy přišel do Egypta a Egypťané viděli, jak je ta žena velmi krásná.15A když ji uviděli faraonovi hodnostáři, vychválili ji před faraonem tak, že byla vzata do faraonova domu.16Abramovi se díky ní vedlo velmi dobře – měl brav, skot i osly, otroky, otrokyně, oslice a velbloudy.17Hospodin však kvůli Abramově manželce Saraj bil faraona a jeho dům velikými ranami.18Farao si proto Abrama zavolal. „Cos mi to udělal?“ řekl mu. „Proč jsi mi zatajil, že je to tvá manželka?19Proč jsi říkal: ‚Je to má sestra‘? Vždyť jsem si ji vzal za ženu! Zde máš svou manželku, vezmi si ji a jdi!“20Farao pak o něm svým mužům přikázal, aby ho vyhostili i s manželkou a se vším, co měl.
