1 Im zweiten Jahr des Darius erging im achten Monat das Wort des HERRN an den Propheten Sacharja, den Sohn Berechjas, des Sohnes Iddos: (Esr 5,1; Hag 1,1) 2 Schwer hat der HERR euren Vätern gezürnt. 3 Deshalb sag zu ihnen: So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Kehrt um zu mir - Spruch des HERRN der Heerscharen -, / dann kehre ich um zu euch, spricht der HERR der Heerscharen. (Kla 5,21; Mal 3,7; Jak 4,8) 4 Seid nicht wie eure Väter, denen die früheren Propheten verkündeten: So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Kehrt doch um von euren heillosen Wegen und von euren heillosen Taten! Aber sie hörten nicht und schenkten mir kein Gehör - Spruch des HERRN. (Sach 7,7) 5 Wo sind nun eure Väter? / Und die Propheten - leben sie ewig? 6 Meine Worte und meine Gesetze, die ich meinen Knechten, den Propheten, gebot, haben sie sich nicht an euren Vätern erfüllt? Darauf kehrten sie um und sagten: Wie der HERR der Heerscharen geplant hatte, nach unseren Wegen und unseren Taten an uns zu handeln, so hat er an uns gehandelt. 7 Am vierundzwanzigsten Tag des elften Monats - das ist der Monat Schebat - im zweiten Jahr des Darius erging das Wort des HERRN an den Propheten Sacharja, den Sohn Berechjas, des Sohnes Iddos. (Hag 2,10) 8 In dieser Nacht hatte ich eine Vision: Siehe, ein Mann, der auf einem roten Pferd ritt. Er stand zwischen den Myrtenbäumen, die an der Wassertiefe sind, und hinter ihm waren rotbraune, fuchsrote und weiße Pferde. (Sach 6,1) 9 Ich fragte: Mein Herr, was bedeuten diese Pferde? Und der Engel, der mit mir redete, sprach: Ich will dich sehen lassen, was sie bedeuten. 10 Da ergriff der Mann, der zwischen den Myrtenbäumen stand, das Wort und sagte: Das sind die, welche der HERR gesandt hat, damit sie die Erde durchziehen. (Hi 1,7; Hi 2,2) 11 Und sie meldeten dem Engel des HERRN, der zwischen den Myrtenbäumen stand: Wir haben die Erde durchzogen - und siehe, die ganze Erde ruht und liegt still. 12 Da ergriff der Engel des HERRN das Wort und sprach: HERR der Heerscharen, wie lange versagst du noch Jerusalem und den Städten Judas dein Erbarmen, denen du nun siebzig Jahre zürnst? 13 Der HERR antwortete dem Engel, der mit mir redete, in freundlichen Worten, Worten voll Trost. 14 Da sagte mir der Engel, der mit mir redete: Verkünde: So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Mit großem Eifer trete ich für Jerusalem und Zion ein; (Sach 8,2) 15 aber ich bin voll glühendem Zorn gegen die Völker, die sich in falscher Sicherheit wiegen; / als ich selbst nur ein wenig erzürnt war, halfen sie dem Unheil nach. (Zef 3,8) 16 Darum - so spricht der HERR: Voll Erbarmen wende ich mich Jerusalem wieder zu. / Man wird mein Haus dort aufbauen - Spruch des HERRN der Heerscharen - und die Richtschnur über Jerusalem spannen. (Jer 31,38; Sach 2,5) 17 Weiter verkünde: So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Meine Städte werden wieder überfließen von Gütern. Der HERR wird Zion wieder trösten und er wird Jerusalem wieder auserwählen. (Jes 51,3; Jes 52,9; Sach 2,16)

1 In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to the prophet Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, saying, (1Chr 6,39; Esr 6,14; Neh 12,4; Neh 12,16; Hag 1,1; Mt 23,35) 2 “The Lord was very angry with your fathers. (Jer 2,5) 3 Therefore say to them, Thus declares the Lord of hosts: Return to me, says the Lord of hosts, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. (Jes 31,6; Jer 3,1; Jer 3,22; Jer 12,15; Hes 18,30; Mi 7,19; Mal 3,7) 4 Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets cried out, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, Return from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.’ But they did not hear or pay attention to me, declares the Lord. (2Chr 36,15; 2Chr 36,16; Ps 78,8; Jer 35,15; Sach 1,3; Sach 7,11) 5 Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever? (Joh 8,52) 6 But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? He was standing among the myrtle trees in the glen, and behind him were red, sorrel, and white horses. (Sach 6,2; Offb 6,4; Offb 6,8) 9 Then I said, ‘What are these, my lord?’ The angel who talked with me said to me, ‘I will show you what they are.’ (Offb 22,6) 10 So the man who was standing among the myrtle trees answered, ‘These are they whom the Lord has sent to patrol the earth.’ (Hi 1,7; Sach 1,8; Sach 6,7; Hebr 1,14) 11 And they answered the angel of the Lord who was standing among the myrtle trees, and said, ‘We have patrolled the earth, and behold, all the earth remains at rest.’ (Sach 1,9; Sach 1,10; Sach 1,15) 12 Then the angel of the Lord said, ‘O Lord of hosts, how long will you have no mercy on Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, against which you have been angry these seventy years?’ (Ps 80,4; Ps 89,46; Ps 102,13; Jer 25,11; Jer 29,10; Hab 2,6; Sach 1,9; Sach 7,5; Offb 6,10) 13 And the Lord answered gracious and comforting words to the angel who talked with me. (Jer 29,10; Sach 1,9) 14 So the angel who talked with me said to me, ‘Cry out, Thus says the Lord of hosts: I am exceedingly jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion. (Joe 2,18; Sach 1,9; Sach 8,2) 15 And I am exceedingly angry with the nations that are at ease; for while I was angry but a little, they furthered the disaster. (Jes 47,6; Jes 54,7; Joe 3,2; Sach 1,11) 16 Therefore, thus says the Lord, I have returned to Jerusalem with mercy; my house shall be built in it, declares the Lord of hosts, and the measuring line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem. (Esr 6,14; Jer 31,39; Hes 40,3; Hes 47,3; Sach 4,9; Sach 8,3) 17 Cry out again, Thus says the Lord of hosts: My cities shall again overflow with prosperity, and the Lord will again comfort Zion and again choose Jerusalem.’” (Jes 40,1; Jes 51,3; Sach 2,4; Sach 2,12) 18 [1] And I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, four horns! (1Kön 22,11) 19 And I said to the angel who talked with me, “What are these?” And he said to me, “These are the horns that have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.” (Sach 1,9; Sach 1,18) 20 Then the Lord showed me four craftsmen. 21 And I said, “What are these coming to do?” He said, “These are the horns that scattered Judah, so that no one raised his head. And these have come to terrify them, to cast down the horns of the nations who lifted up their horns against the land of Judah to scatter it.” (5Mo 28,26; Ps 75,4; Jer 7,33; Sach 1,18)
