1This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. (1Co 9:17; 1Pe 4:10)2Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.3But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself.4For I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me. (Job 9:2; Job 9:15; Ps 130:3; Ps 143:2; Ac 23:1; 1Jo 3:21)5Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God. (Mt 7:1; Mt 13:29; Joh 21:22; Ro 2:1; Ro 2:16; 1Co 3:8; 1Co 3:13; 2Co 10:18)6I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers,[1] that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another. (1Co 4:18; 1Co 5:2; 1Co 13:4)7For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it? (Ac 17:18; Ac 26:24; 1Co 1:18; 1Co 2:3; 2Co 11:19; 2Co 13:9)11To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are poorly dressed and buffeted and homeless, (Mt 8:20; Ro 8:35; 2Co 11:20; 2Co 11:23; 2Co 11:27; Php 4:12)12and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; (Joh 15:20; Ac 18:3; 1Pe 3:9)13when slandered, we entreat. We have become, and are still, like the scum of the world, the refuse of all things. (Isa 30:22; Isa 64:6; La 3:45)14I do not write these things to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. (1Co 6:5; 1Co 15:34; 2Co 6:13; 1Th 2:11; 3Jo 1:4)15For though you have countless[2] guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel. (1Co 3:10; Ga 4:19; Phm 1:10)16I urge you, then, be imitators of me. (1Co 11:1; Php 3:17; Php 4:9; 1Th 1:6; 2Th 3:9)17That is why I sent[3] you Timothy, my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, to remind you of my ways in Christ,[4] as I teach them everywhere in every church. (1Co 7:17; 1Co 16:10; 1Ti 1:2; 2Ti 1:2)18Some are arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. (1Co 4:6; 1Co 4:21; 2Co 10:2)19But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I will find out not the talk of these arrogant people but their power. 1So soll man uns betrachten: als Diener des Christus und Haushalter[1] der Geheimnisse Gottes. (Mt 24:45; 1Co 3:5; 2Co 6:4; Col 1:26; Tit 1:7; 1Pe 4:10)2Im Übrigen wird von einem Haushalter nur verlangt, dass er treu erfunden wird. (Lu 12:42; Heb 3:5; Re 2:10)3Mir aber ist es das Geringste, dass ich von euch oder von einem menschlichen Gerichtstag beurteilt werde; auch beurteile ich mich nicht selbst. (1Co 6:4)4Denn ich bin mir nichts bewusst; aber damit bin ich nicht gerechtfertigt, sondern der Herr ist es, der mich beurteilt. (Ps 19:13; Pr 21:2; Heb 4:12; Re 2:23)5Darum richtet nichts vor der Zeit, bis der Herr kommt, der auch das im Finstern Verborgene ans Licht bringen und die Absichten der Herzen offenbar machen wird; und dann wird jedem das Lob von Gott zuteilwerden. (Job 12:22; Ps 90:8; Ec 12:14; Mt 7:1; Ro 2:16; Ro 14:10; 1Co 3:8)
Die Überheblichkeit der Korinther und das Vorbild des Apostels
6Das aber, meine Brüder, habe ich auf mich und Apollos bezogen um euretwillen, damit ihr an uns lernt, in eurem Denken nicht über das hinauszugehen, was geschrieben steht, damit ihr euch nicht für den einen auf Kosten des anderen aufbläht. (Ro 12:3; 1Co 3:4)7Denn wer gibt dir den Vorzug? Und was besitzt du, das du nicht empfangen hast? Wenn du es aber empfangen hast, was rühmst du dich, als ob du es nicht empfangen hättest? (Joh 3:27; Jas 1:17)8Ihr seid schon satt geworden, ihr seid schon reich geworden, ihr seid ohne uns zur Herrschaft gelangt! O dass ihr doch wirklich zur Herrschaft gelangt wärt, damit auch wir mit euch herrschen könnten! (Ro 8:17; 2Ti 2:12; Re 3:17)9Es scheint mir nämlich, dass Gott uns Apostel als die Letzten hingestellt hat, gleichsam zum Tod bestimmt; denn wir sind der Welt ein Schauspiel geworden, sowohl Engeln als auch Menschen. (Ro 8:36; 2Co 6:9; Heb 10:33; Heb 12:1)10Wir sind Narren um des Christus willen, ihr aber seid klug in Christus; wir schwach, ihr aber stark; ihr in Ehren, wir aber verachtet. (Lu 6:26; 1Co 2:3; 1Co 3:18; 2Co 4:7; 2Co 12:9; 2Co 13:9)11Bis zu dieser Stunde leiden wir Hunger und Durst und Blöße, werden geschlagen und haben keine Bleibe (Ac 23:2; Ro 8:35; 2Co 11:27)12und arbeiten mühsam mit unseren eigenen Händen. Wenn wir geschmäht werden, segnen wir; wenn wir Verfolgung leiden, halten wir stand; (Ac 18:3; Ro 12:14; 1Pe 3:9)13wenn wir gelästert werden, spenden wir Trost; zum Kehricht der Welt sind wir geworden, zum Abschaum aller bis jetzt. (La 3:45; Lu 6:22)14Nicht zu eurer Beschämung schreibe ich das, sondern ich ermahne euch als meine geliebten Kinder. (2Co 12:14; 1Th 2:11)15Denn wenn ihr auch zehntausend Lehrmeister[2] hättet in Christus, so habt ihr doch nicht viele Väter; denn ich habe euch in Christus Jesus gezeugt durch das Evangelium. (1Co 9:1; Ga 4:19; Phm 1:10)16So ermahne ich euch nun: Werdet meine Nachahmer! (Php 3:17; 1Th 1:6; 2Th 3:9)17Deshalb habe ich Timotheus zu euch gesandt, der mein geliebtes und treues Kind im Herrn ist; der wird euch an meine Wege in Christus erinnern, wie ich überall in jeder Gemeinde lehre. (Mt 28:20; Joh 14:26; Ac 19:22; Php 2:19; Php 2:22; 1Ti 1:2; Tit 3:8)18Weil ich aber nicht selbst zu euch komme, haben sich etliche aufgebläht; (1Co 4:6; 1Co 5:2)19ich werde aber bald zu euch kommen, wenn der Herr will, und nicht die Worte der Aufgeblähten kennenlernen, sondern die Kraft. (Ac 18:21; Ro 15:32; Heb 6:3; Jas 4:15)20Denn das Reich Gottes [besteht] nicht in Worten, sondern in Kraft! (Ro 14:17; 1Th 1:5)21Was wollt ihr? Soll ich mit der Rute zu euch kommen, oder in Liebe und im Geist der Sanftmut? (2Co 13:10)
