1Afterward Moses and Aaron went and said to Pharaoh, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.’” (Ex 10:9)2But Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey his voice and let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, and moreover, I will not let Israel go.” (Ex 3:19; 2Ki 18:35; Job 21:15)3Then they said, “The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Please let us go a three days’ journey into the wilderness that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God, lest he fall upon us with pestilence or with the sword.” (Ex 3:18; Ex 7:16; Ex 9:1; Ex 9:13)4But the king of Egypt said to them, “Moses and Aaron, why do you take the people away from their work? Get back to your burdens.” (Ex 1:11)5And Pharaoh said, “Behold, the people of the land are now many,[1] and you make them rest from their burdens!” (Ex 1:7; Ex 1:9)6The same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people and their foremen, (Ex 3:7; Ex 5:14; Ex 5:19)7“You shall no longer give the people straw to make bricks, as in the past; let them go and gather straw for themselves.8But the number of bricks that they made in the past you shall impose on them, you shall by no means reduce it, for they are idle. Therefore they cry, ‘Let us go and offer sacrifice to our God.’9Let heavier work be laid on the men that they may labor at it and pay no regard to lying words.”10So the taskmasters and the foremen of the people went out and said to the people, “Thus says Pharaoh, ‘I will not give you straw. (Ex 3:7)11Go and get your straw yourselves wherever you can find it, but your work will not be reduced in the least.’”12So the people were scattered throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.13The taskmasters were urgent, saying, “Complete your work, your daily task each day, as when there was straw.” (Ex 3:7)14And the foremen of the people of Israel, whom Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over them, were beaten and were asked, “Why have you not done all your task of making bricks today and yesterday, as in the past?” (Ex 5:13)15Then the foremen of the people of Israel came and cried to Pharaoh, “Why do you treat your servants like this?16No straw is given to your servants, yet they say to us, ‘Make bricks!’ And behold, your servants are beaten; but the fault is in your own people.”17But he said, “You are idle, you are idle; that is why you say, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to the Lord.’18Go now and work. No straw will be given you, but you must still deliver the same number of bricks.”19The foremen of the people of Israel saw that they were in trouble when they said, “You shall by no means reduce your number of bricks, your daily task each day.”20They met Moses and Aaron, who were waiting for them, as they came out from Pharaoh;21and they said to them, “The Lord look on you and judge, because you have made us stink in the sight of Pharaoh and his servants, and have put a sword in their hand to kill us.” (Ex 6:9)22Then Moses turned to the Lord and said, “O Lord, why have you done evil to this people? Why did you ever send me?23For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has done evil to this people, and you have not delivered your people at all.”
1پس از ديدار با بزرگان قوم، موسی و هارون نزد فرعون رفتند و به او گفتند: «ما از جانب خداوند، خدای اسرائيل پيامی برای تو آوردهايم. او میفرمايد: ”قوم مرا رها كن تا به صحرا بروند و مرا عبادت كنند.“»2فرعون گفت: «خداوند كيست كه من به حرفهايش گوش بدهم و بنیاسرائيل را آزاد كنم؟ من خداوند را نمیشناسم و بنیاسرائيل را نيز آزاد نمیكنم.»3موسی و هارون گفتند: «خدای عبرانیها ما را ملاقات كرده و به ما فرموده است كه با پيمودن مسافت سه روز راه به صحرا برويم و در آنجا برای خداوند، خدای خود قربانی كنيم و گرنه او ما را بهوسيله بيماری يا جنگ خواهد كشت.»4-5پادشاه مصر به موسی و هارون گفت: «چرا بنیاسرائيل را از كارشان باز میداريد؟ به دنبال كار خود برويد! حال كه تعدادتان زياد شده است، میخواهيد دست از كار بكشيد؟»6در آن روز فرعون به ناظران و سركارگران مصری خود چنين دستور داد:7-8«از اين پس به اسرائيلیها برای تهيهٔ خشت، كاه ندهيد؛ آنها خودشان بايد كاه جمع كنند و تعداد خشتها نيز نبايد كمتر شود. پيداست به اندازهٔ كافی كار ندارند و گرنه فكر رفتن و قربانی كردن به سرشان نمیزد.9چنان از آنها كار بكشيد كه فرصتی برای گوش دادن به حرفهای بيهوده نداشته باشند.»10پس ناظران و سركارگران به قوم اسرائيل گفتند: «به فرمان فرعون از اين پس به شما برای تهيه خشت، كاه داده نخواهد شد.11خودتان برويد و از هر جا كه میخواهيد كاه جمع كنيد و از آن خشت بسازيد. مقدار خشتها نيز نبايد از گذشته كمتر باشد.»12پس، بنیاسرائيل در سراسر مصر پراكنده شدند تا كاه جمع كنند.13در اين ميان، ناظران مصری نيز بر آنها فشار میآورند تا به همان اندازهٔ سابق خشت توليد كنند14و سركارگران اسرائيلی را میزدند و میگفتند: «چرا كارتان را مثل گذشته انجام نمیدهيد؟»15سركارگران اسرائيلی نزد فرعون رفتند و شكايت كرده، گفتند: «چرا با ما اينچنين رفتار میشود؟16ناظران به ما كاه نمیدهند و انتظار دارند به اندازهٔ گذشته خشت توليد كنيم! آنها بیسبب ما را میزنند، در حالی که ما تقصيری نداريم، بلكه خودشان مقصرند.»17فرعون گفت: «شما به اندازهٔ كافی كار نداريد و گرنه نمیگفتيد: ”اجازه بده برويم و برای خداوند قربانی كنيم.“18حال به سر كارتان بازگرديد، همانطور كه دستور دادهام كاه به شما داده نخواهد شد و به اندازهٔ گذشته بايد خشت تحويل بدهيد.»19سركارگران اسرائيلی هنگامی كه سخنان فرعون را شنيدند، فهميدند در وضع بدی گرفتار شدهاند.20وقتی آنها از قصر فرعون بيرون میآمدند، به موسی و هارون كه بيرون قصر منتظر ايستاده بودند، برخوردند.21پس به ايشان گفتند: «خداوند داد ما را از شما بگيرد كه همهٔ ما را از نظر فرعون و درباريانش انداختيد و بهانهای به دست ايشان داديد تا ما را بكشند.»
شكايت موسی و جواب خدا
22پس، موسی نزد خداوند آمد و گفت: «خداوندا، چرا قوم خود را با سختيها مواجه میكنی؟ آيا برای همين مرا فرستادی؟23از وقتی كه پيغام تو را به فرعون رساندهام، بر اين قوم ظلم میكند و تو هم به داد ايشان نمیرسی.»
