1The oracle concerning the valley of vision. What do you mean that you have gone up, all of you, to the housetops, (Isa 13:1; Isa 22:5; Jer 21:13; Joe 3:12; Joe 3:14)2you who are full of shoutings, tumultuous city, exultant town? Your slain are not slain with the sword or dead in battle. (Isa 32:13; La 4:9)3All your leaders have fled together; without the bow they were captured. All of you who were found were captured, though they had fled far away. (Isa 1:10)4Therefore I said: “Look away from me; let me weep bitter tears; do not labor to comfort me concerning the destruction of the daughter of my people.” (Jer 9:1; Mic 1:8)5For the Lord God of hosts has a day of tumult and trampling and confusion in the valley of vision, a battering down of walls and a shouting to the mountains. (Isa 2:12; Isa 10:6; Isa 18:2; Isa 22:1; Isa 37:3; Mic 7:4)6And Elam bore the quiver with chariots and horsemen, and Kir uncovered the shield. (2Ki 16:9; Isa 11:11)7Your choicest valleys were full of chariots, and the horsemen took their stand at the gates.8He has taken away the covering of Judah. In that day you looked to the weapons of the House of the Forest, (1Ki 10:17; Isa 30:1)9and you saw that the breaches of the city of David were many. You collected the waters of the lower pool, (2Ch 32:5; Ne 3:16; Isa 22:5; Isa 22:10)10and you counted the houses of Jerusalem, and you broke down the houses to fortify the wall.11You made a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the old pool. But you did not look to him who did it, or see him who planned it long ago. (2Ki 20:20; 2Ki 25:4; 2Ch 32:3; Isa 5:12; Isa 7:3; Isa 22:9)12In that day the Lord God of hosts called for weeping and mourning, for baldness and wearing sackcloth; (2Sa 3:31; Isa 3:24; Joe 2:17)13and behold, joy and gladness, killing oxen and slaughtering sheep, eating flesh and drinking wine. “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.” (Isa 56:12; 1Co 15:32)14The Lord of hosts has revealed himself in my ears: “Surely this iniquity will not be atoned for you until you die,” says the Lord God of hosts. (1Sa 3:14; Isa 5:9; Isa 22:13; Isa 27:9)15Thus says the Lord God of hosts, “Come, go to this steward, to Shebna, who is over the household, and say to him: (2Ki 18:18; 2Ki 18:26; 2Ki 18:37; 2Ki 19:2; Isa 36:3; Isa 36:11; Isa 36:22; Isa 37:2)16What have you to do here, and whom have you here, that you have cut out here a tomb for yourself, you who cut out a tomb on the height and carve a dwelling for yourself in the rock? (2Ch 16:14; Mt 27:60)17Behold, the Lord will hurl you away violently, O you strong man. He will seize firm hold on you (Da 3:21)18and whirl you around and around, and throw you like a ball into a wide land. There you shall die, and there shall be your glorious chariots, you shame of your master’s house. (Isa 36:9)19I will thrust you from your office, and you will be pulled down from your station. (Isa 22:25)20In that day I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, (2Ki 18:18; 2Ki 18:26; 2Ki 18:37; 2Ki 19:2; Isa 36:3; Isa 37:2)21and I will clothe him with your robe, and will bind your sash on him, and will commit your authority to his hand. And he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. (Ge 45:8; Isa 22:20)22And I will place on his shoulder the key of the house of David. He shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open. (Job 12:14; Isa 9:6; Re 3:7)23And I will fasten him like a peg in a secure place, and he will become a throne of honor to his father’s house. (Ec 12:11; Isa 33:20; Isa 54:2; Re 3:21)24And they will hang on him the whole honor of his father’s house, the offspring and issue, every small vessel, from the cups to all the flagons.25In that day, declares the Lord of hosts, the peg that was fastened in a secure place will give way, and it will be cut down and fall, and the load that was on it will be cut off, for the Lord has spoken.” (Isa 22:23)
1Das Wort, das auf dem Tal der Offenbarung[1] lasten wird: / Was ist mit dir, dass du auf den Dachterrassen stehst,2du lärmerfüllte tosende Stadt, / du ausgelassene Burg? / Deine Toten fielen nicht durchs Schwert und nicht im Kampf.3Alle deine Führer sind geflohen, / und alle sind gefangen – ohne einen Bogenschuss. So weit sie auch gelaufen waren, / nun sind sie gefesselt – allesamt.4Darum sage ich: Lasst mich allein mit meinem Schmerz! / Lasst meine Tränen laufen! / Tröstet mich nicht wegen der Gewalt an meinem Volk!5Denn der Herr hat Verwirrung, Verheerung, Verstörung in das Tal der Offenbarung gebracht – Jahwe, der Allmächtige. / Die Mauer ist zerbrochen. / Hilfegeschrei hört man am Hang.6Elam[2] hat den Köcher umgehängt, / die Streitwagen sind bespannt und bemannt, / und Kir[3] hat seinen Schild enthüllt.7Deine herrlichen Täler sind mit Wagen gefüllt, / und Reiter nehmen Stellung gegen das Tor.8So nimmt man Juda jeden Schutz. / An dem Tag habt ihr im Waldhaus[4] nach Waffen gesucht9und habt die Risse in der Mauer gesehen, / viele Risse in der Davidsstadt.[5] / Im unteren Teich habt ihr das Wasser gestaut.10Dann habt ihr Jerusalems Häuser gezählt, / ganze Gebäude niedergerissen / und die Mauer der Stadt damit fester gemacht.11Zwischen den beiden Mauern habt ihr ein Sammelbecken angelegt – für das Wasser des alten Teichs.
Doch habt ihr nicht auf den geblickt, der alles bewirkt; / ihr habt nicht an den gedacht, der solche Unglücke plant.12Wohl rief Jahwe an jenem Tag, / der Herr aller Heere rief euch zum Weinen und zur Wehklage auf, / zum Glatzescheren und zum Trauersack.13Doch er fand Jubel und Vergnügen bei euch, / Ochsenschlachten und Schafeschächten, / Fleischessen und Weintrinken. / „Lasst uns essen und trinken“, habt ihr gesagt, / „denn morgen sind wir tot!“[6] (1Co 15:32)14Doch Jahwe, der Allmächtige, hat sich mir offenbart: / „Diese Schuld vergebe ich euch nicht, bis ihr sterbt!, / schwört Jahwe, der Allmächtige.“
Schebna und Eljakim
15So sprach Jahwe, der Herr aller Heere: Geh zu diesem Verwalter da, zu Schebna, dem Palastvorsteher, und sage ihm:16„Was machst du hier eigentlich? Wer gab dir die Erlaubnis, hier oben eine Grabkammer aushauen zu lassen? Was fällt dir ein, deine letzte Wohnung in den Fels zu meißeln?17Pass auf, Mann! Jahwe wird dich im Wind herumwirbeln und dich zusammenkneten,18er wird dich zu einem Knäuel zusammenwickeln und wie einen Ball wegschleudern in ein Land mit großen weiten Ebenen. Dort wirst du sterben, und dorthin kommen auch die Wagen deiner Ehrsucht, du Schandfleck für das Königshaus!19Ich werde dich aus deinem Amt verjagen und dafür sorgen, dass man dich von deinem hohen Posten holt.20An dem Tag werde ich Eljakim Ben-Hilkija berufen, meinen Diener.21Ich ziehe ihm dein Amtsgewand an und lege ihm deinen Gürtel um. Ich übertrage ihm alle Vollmachten, die du jetzt hast. Er wird wie ein Vater für die Bewohner Jerusalems und das Volk von Juda sein.22Ich vertraue ihm die Schlüssel zum Palast der Nachkommen Davids an. Was er öffnet, wird kein anderer verschließen, und was er verschließt, wird keiner mehr öffnen.23Ich werde ihn wie einen Pflock fest in die Wand einschlagen. Seine ganze Verwandtschaft wird durch ihn zu Ehren kommen.24Doch die ganze Sippe wird sich mit Kind und Kegel an ihn hängen, wie an einen Pflock, an dem das ganze Tongeschirr mit Schüsseln und Krügen hängt.25Dann wird der Pflock, der so fest in der Wand sitzt, abbrechen, und die Last, die er trug, geht zu Bruch und wird beseitigt. Das sagt Jahwe, der Allmächtige.“
