1“Ah, stubborn children,” declares the Lord, “who carry out a plan, but not mine, and who make an alliance,[1] but not of my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin; (Isa 1:2; Isa 1:4; Isa 25:7; Isa 29:15)2who set out to go down to Egypt, without asking for my direction, to take refuge in the protection of Pharaoh and to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt! (Isa 31:1; Isa 36:6)3Therefore shall the protection of Pharaoh turn to your shame, and the shelter in the shadow of Egypt to your humiliation. A Rebellious People

The Lord Will Be Gracious
18Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him. (Ps 2:12; Ps 34:8; Pr 16:20; Isa 5:16; Jer 17:7; Hab 2:3)19For a people shall dwell in Zion, in Jerusalem; you shall weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry. As soon as he hears it, he answers you. (Isa 14:32)20And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide himself anymore, but your eyes shall see your Teacher. (1Ki 22:27; Ps 127:2; Isa 3:1; Eze 4:10)21And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left. Totuși, El Se ridică să vă arate milă. Căci DOMNUL este un Dumnezeu al judecății! Ferice de toți cei ce nădăjduiesc în El!19Da, popor al Sionului, care locuiești în Ierusalim, nu vei mai plânge! Cu siguranță El Își va arăta bunăvoința față de tine când îți va auzi strigătul de ajutor. De îndată ce te va auzi, îți va răspunde.20Deși Stăpânul vă va da pâinea necazului și apa suferinței, învățătorii tăi nu se vor mai ascunde, și ochii tăi îi vor vedea pe învățătorii tăi.21Iar dacă vă veți întoarce fie spre dreapta, fie spre stânga, veți auzi înapoia voastră o voce, zicând: „Aceasta este calea! Vine să cearnă neamurile prin sita nimicirii și să pună o zăbală în fălcile popoarelor, care să‑i ducă în rătăcire.29Veți cânta ca în noaptea unei sărbători sfinte. Vi se va bucura inima ca și când ați merge, în sunetul flautului, la muntele DOMNULUI, la Stânca lui Israel.30DOMNUL va face să se audă glasul Său măreț și să fie văzut brațul Său coborând să lovească, într‑o mânie aprinsă și cu flacără de foc mistuitor, cu rupere de nori, furtună și grindină.31Căci Asiria va fi zdrobită de glasul DOMNULUI, când El va lovi cu toiagul.32La fiecare lovitură de nuia hotărâtă, pe care DOMNUL o va îndrepta asupra ei, se vor auzi tamburinele și lirele. Cu loviturile brațului Său, El Se va lupta împotriva ei.[4]33Căci Tofetul[5] este de mult timp pregătit, este gata chiar și pentru împărat.
