1But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. (1Ti 4:1)2For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, (Lu 16:14; Ro 1:30; Php 2:21; 1Ti 6:10)3heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, (Ro 1:31; Tit 1:8)4treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, (Php 3:19; 1Ti 3:6; 1Ti 6:4)5having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. (1Ti 5:8; 1Ti 6:20; Tit 1:14)6For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, (Tit 1:11)7always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth. (1Ti 2:4)8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith. (Ex 7:11; Ac 13:8; 1Ti 6:5; Tit 1:16)9But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men. (Ex 7:12; Ex 8:18; Ex 9:11)
All Scripture Is Breathed Out by God
10You, however, have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, (Php 2:22)11my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra—which persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. (Ps 34:19; Ac 13:14; Ac 13:45; Ac 13:50; Ac 14:1; Ac 14:5; Ac 14:6; Ac 14:19; 2Co 1:10; 2Ti 4:17)12Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, (Ac 14:22; Tit 2:12)13while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. (Tit 3:3; Re 22:11)14But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom[1] you learned it (1Ti 4:6)15and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. (Ps 119:99; Joh 5:39; Eph 6:4; 2Ti 1:5)16All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, (Ro 15:4; 2Pe 1:20)17that the man of God[2] may be complete, equipped for every good work. (Lu 6:40; 1Ti 6:11; 2Ti 2:21)
1Să știi că în zilele de pe urmă[1] vor fi vremuri grele.2Căci oamenii vor fi iubitori de sine, iubitori de bani, lăudăroși, aroganți, blasfemiatori, neascultători de părinți, nemulțumitori, lipsiți de sfințenie,3fără afecțiune, neînduplecați, calomniatori, neînfrânați, sălbatici, neiubitori de bine,4trădători, nesăbuiți, încrezuți, iubitori mai degrabă de plăceri, decât de Dumnezeu,5având o formă de evlavie, dar negându‑i puterea. Ferește‑te de aceștia!6Căci dintre aceștia sunt cei care se furișează în case și pun stăpânire pe femeile ușuratice, împovărate de păcate, mânate de felurite pofte,7care întotdeauna învață, dar nu pot ajunge la cunoașterea adevărului.8Așa cum Iannes și Iambres[2] i s‑au împotrivit lui Moise, tot astfel și acești oameni cu minți pervertite se împotrivesc adevărului, fiind descalificați[3] în ce privește credința. (Ex 7:11)9Dar ei nu vor mai înainta mult, pentru că, la fel ca în cazul celor doi, nebunia lor va fi arătată tuturor.
Îndemnuri pentru Timotei
10Însă tu mi‑ai urmărit îndeaproape învățătura, purtarea, țelul, credința, îndelunga răbdare, dragostea, perseverența[4],11persecuțiile și suferințele, lucrurile care mi s‑au întâmplat în Antiohia, în Iconia și în Listra. Am îndurat astfel de persecuții, dar Domnul m‑a scăpat din toate.12Toți cei ce vor să trăiască o viață evlavioasă în Cristos Isus vor fi persecutați.13Dar oamenii răi și impostorii vor merge din rău în mai rău, ducându‑i în rătăcire pe alții și rătăcindu‑se ei înșiși.14Însă tu să rămâi în lucrurile pe care le‑ai învățat și de care ai ajuns convins. Tu știi de la cine[5] le‑ai învățat15și cum, din copilărie, ai cunoscut Sfintele Scripturi, care‑ți pot da înțelepciunea ce duce la mântuire prin credința în Cristos Isus.16Toată Scriptura este insuflată de Dumnezeu și de folos pentru învățătură, pentru mustrare, pentru îndreptare, pentru acea disciplinare în dreptate,17pentru ca omul lui Dumnezeu să fie desăvârșit și pe deplin echipat pentru orice lucrare bună.
