1It was now two days before the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to arrest him by stealth and kill him, (Mt 21:46; Mt 26:2; Lu 22:1; Joh 6:4; Joh 11:53)2for they said, “Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar from the people.” (Mt 27:24)
Jesus Anointed at Bethany
3And while he was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper,[1] as he was reclining at table, a woman came with an alabaster flask of ointment of pure nard, very costly, and she broke the flask and poured it over his head. (Mt 21:17; Mt 26:6; Lu 7:37; Joh 11:18; Joh 12:1)4There were some who said to themselves indignantly, “Why was the ointment wasted like that?5For this ointment could have been sold for more than three hundred denarii[2] and given to the poor.” And they scolded her. She has done a beautiful thing to me.7For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good for them. But you will not always have me. Institution of the Lord’s Supper
22And as they were eating, he took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.” (Mt 14:19; Mt 26:26; Lu 22:18; Joh 6:53; 1Co 10:16; 1Co 11:23)23And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, and they all drank of it. (Mt 15:36)24And he said to them, “This is my blood of the[3] covenant, which is poured out for many. Jesus Foretells Peter’s Denial
26And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. Jesus Prays in Gethsemane
32And they went to a place called Gethsemane. And he said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” (Mt 26:36; Mr 14:26; Lu 22:40)33And he took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed and troubled. (Mt 17:23; Mr 5:37; Mr 9:2)34And he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus
43And immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. (Mt 26:47; Mr 14:10; Lu 22:47; Joh 18:3; Ac 1:16)44Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “The one I will kiss is the man. Seize him and lead him away under guard.”45And when he came, he went up to him at once and said, “Rabbi!” And he kissed him. (Lu 7:38; Lu 7:45; Lu 15:20; Joh 1:38; Ac 20:37)46And they laid hands on him and seized him.47But one of those who stood by drew his sword and struck the servant[5] of the high priest and cut off his ear. (Lu 22:38)48And Jesus said to them, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me?49Day after day I was with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me. A Young Man Flees
51And a young man followed him, with nothing but a linen cloth about his body. And they seized him, (Jud 14:12; Pr 31:24; Mr 15:46)52but he left the linen cloth and ran away naked.
Jesus Before the Council
53And they led Jesus to the high priest. And all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes came together. (Mt 26:57; Lu 22:54; Joh 18:12; Joh 18:19)54And Peter had followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. And he was sitting with the guards and warming himself at the fire. (Mt 26:3; Mr 14:53; Mr 14:67; Mr 14:68; Joh 7:32; Joh 18:3; Joh 18:15; Joh 18:18)55Now the chief priests and the whole council[6] were seeking testimony against Jesus to put him to death, but they found none.56For many bore false witness against him, but their testimony did not agree. (De 17:6; De 19:15; Ps 27:12; Ps 35:11)57And some stood up and bore false witness against him, saying,58“We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another, not made with hands.’” (Mr 15:29; Joh 2:19; Ac 6:14; Ac 7:48; Ac 17:24; 2Co 5:1; Heb 9:11; Heb 9:24)59Yet even about this their testimony did not agree.60And the high priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus, “Have you no answer to make? Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?” (Isa 53:7; Mt 1:17; Mr 8:29; Mr 15:4; Lu 22:67; Joh 19:9; Ro 1:25)62And Jesus said, “I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.” (Ps 110:1; Mt 16:27; Mt 24:30; Mr 16:19; Heb 1:3)63And the high priest tore his garments and said, “What further witnesses do we need? (Nu 14:6; Ac 14:14)64You have heard his blasphemy. What is your decision?” And they all condemned him as deserving death. (Le 24:16; Mt 9:3; Lu 23:50; Joh 10:36)65And some began to spit on him and to cover his face and to strike him, saying to him, “Prophesy!” And the guards received him with blows. Peter Denies Jesus
66And as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came, (Mt 26:69; Lu 22:55; Joh 18:16; Joh 18:25)67and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, “You also were with the Nazarene, Jesus.” (Mr 14:54)68But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you mean.” And he went out into the gateway[8] and the rooster crowed.[9] (Mr 14:30; Mr 14:72)69And the servant girl saw him and began again to say to the bystanders, “This man is one of them.”70But again he denied it. And after a little while the bystanders again said to Peter, “Certainly you are one of them, for you are a Galilean.”71But he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, “I do not know this man of whom you speak.”72And immediately the rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” And he broke down and wept.[10] (Mr 14:30; Mr 14:68; Ac 3:13)
Der Plan der Hohenpriester und der Schriftgelehrten

Die Salbung in Betanien
3Und als er in Betanien war im Hause Simons des Aussätzigen und saß zu Tisch, da kam eine Frau, die hatte ein Alabastergefäß mit unverfälschtem, kostbarem Nardenöl, und sie zerbrach das Gefäß und goss das Öl auf sein Haupt. (Lu 7:36; Joh 12:1)4Da wurden einige unwillig und sprachen untereinander: Was soll diese Vergeudung des Salböls?5Man hätte dieses Öl für mehr als dreihundert Silbergroschen verkaufen können und das Geld den Armen geben. Und sie fuhren sie an. (Mr 10:21)6Jesus aber sprach: Lasst sie! Was bekümmert ihr sie? Sie hat ein gutes Werk an mir getan.7Denn ihr habt allezeit Arme bei euch, und wenn ihr wollt, könnt ihr ihnen Gutes tun; mich aber habt ihr nicht allezeit. (De 15:11)8Sie hat getan, was sie konnte; sie hat meinen Leib im Voraus gesalbt zu meinem Begräbnis. (Mr 16:1)9Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wo das Evangelium gepredigt wird in der ganzen Welt, da wird man auch das sagen zu ihrem Gedächtnis, was sie getan hat. (Mr 13:10)
Der Verrat des Judas
10Und Judas Iskariot, einer von den Zwölfen, ging hin zu den Hohenpriestern, dass er ihn an sie verriete.11Da sie das hörten, wurden sie froh und versprachen, ihm Geld zu geben. Und er suchte, wie er ihn bei guter Gelegenheit verraten könnte.
Das Abendmahl
12Und am ersten Tage der Ungesäuerten Brote, da man das Passalamm opferte, sprachen seine Jünger zu ihm: Wo willst du, dass wir hingehen und das Passalamm bereiten, damit du es essen kannst?13Und er sandte zwei seiner Jünger und sprach zu ihnen: Geht hin in die Stadt, und es wird euch ein Mensch begegnen, der trägt einen Krug mit Wasser; folgt ihm, (Mr 11:1)14und wo er hineingeht, da sprecht zu dem Hausherrn: Der Meister lässt dir sagen: Wo ist die Herberge für mich, in der ich das Passalamm essen kann mit meinen Jüngern?15Und er wird euch einen großen Saal zeigen, der schön ausgelegt und vorbereitet ist; und dort richtet für uns zu.16Und die Jünger gingen hin und kamen in die Stadt und fanden’s, wie er ihnen gesagt hatte, und bereiteten das Passalamm.17Und am Abend kam er mit den Zwölfen.18Und als sie bei Tisch waren und aßen, sprach Jesus: Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Einer unter euch, der mit mir isst, wird mich verraten.19Da wurden sie traurig und sagten zu ihm, einer nach dem andern: Bin ich’s?20Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Einer von den Zwölfen, der mit mir seinen Bissen in die Schüssel taucht.21Der Menschensohn geht zwar hin, wie von ihm geschrieben steht; weh aber dem Menschen, durch den der Menschensohn verraten wird! Es wäre für diesen Menschen besser, wenn er nie geboren wäre. (Mr 9:12)22Und als sie aßen, nahm er das Brot, dankte und brach’s und gab’s ihnen und sprach: Nehmet; das ist mein Leib. (Mr 6:41; 1Co 10:16; 1Co 11:23)23Und er nahm den Kelch, dankte und gab ihnen den; und sie tranken alle daraus.24Und er sprach zu ihnen: Das ist mein Blut des Bundes[1], das für viele vergossen wird. (Ex 24:8; Mr 10:45; Heb 9:15)25Wahrlich, ich sage euch, dass ich nicht mehr trinken werde vom Gewächs des Weinstocks bis an den Tag, an dem ich aufs Neue davon trinke im Reich Gottes.26Und als sie den Lobgesang gesungen hatten, gingen sie hinaus an den Ölberg.
Die Ankündigung der Verleugnung des Petrus
27Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Ihr werdet alle Ärgernis nehmen; denn es steht geschrieben: »Ich werde den Hirten schlagen, und die Schafe werden sich zerstreuen.« (Joh 16:32)28Wenn ich aber auferstanden bin, will ich vor euch hingehen nach Galiläa. (Mr 16:7)29Petrus aber sagte zu ihm: Wenn auch alle Ärgernis nehmen, so doch ich nicht!30Und Jesus sprach zu ihm: Wahrlich, ich sage dir: Heute, in dieser Nacht, ehe denn der Hahn zweimal kräht, wirst du mich dreimal verleugnen.31Er aber redete noch weiter: Auch wenn ich mit dir sterben müsste, werde ich dich nicht verleugnen! Das Gleiche sagten sie alle. (Joh 11:16)
Jesus in Gethsemane
32Und sie kamen zu einem Garten mit Namen Gethsemane. Und er sprach zu seinen Jüngern: Setzt euch hierher, bis ich gebetet habe.33Und er nahm mit sich Petrus und Jakobus und Johannes und fing an zu zittern und zu zagen (Mt 17:1)34und sprach zu ihnen: Meine Seele ist betrübt bis an den Tod; bleibt hier und wachet! (Ps 42:6; Joh 12:27)35Und er ging ein wenig weiter, fiel nieder auf die Erde und betete, dass, wenn es möglich wäre, die Stunde an ihm vorüberginge,36und sprach: Abba, Vater, alles ist dir möglich; nimm diesen Kelch von mir; doch nicht, was ich will, sondern was du willst! (Mr 10:38; Joh 6:38; Ga 4:6)37Und er kam und fand sie schlafend und sprach zu Petrus: Simon, schläfst du? Vermochtest du nicht eine Stunde zu wachen?38Wachet und betet, dass ihr nicht in Versuchung fallt! Der Geist ist willig; aber das Fleisch ist schwach. (Lu 21:36)39Und er ging wieder hin und betete und sprach dieselben Worte40und kam wieder und fand sie schlafend; denn ihre Augen waren voller Schlaf, und sie wussten nicht, was sie ihm antworten sollten.41Und er kam zum dritten Mal und sprach zu ihnen: Ach, wollt ihr weiter schlafen und ruhen? Es ist genug; die Stunde ist gekommen. Siehe, der Menschensohn wird überantwortet in die Hände der Sünder. (Mr 9:31; Mr 10:33)42Steht auf, lasst uns gehen! Siehe, der mich verrät, ist nahe. (Joh 14:31)
Jesu Gefangennahme
43Und alsbald, während er noch redete, kam herzu Judas, einer von den Zwölfen, und mit ihm eine Schar mit Schwertern und mit Stangen, von den Hohenpriestern und Schriftgelehrten und Ältesten.44Und der Verräter hatte ihnen ein Zeichen genannt und gesagt: Welchen ich küssen werde, der ist’s; den ergreift und führt ihn sicher ab.45Und als er kam, trat er alsbald zu ihm und sprach: Rabbi!, und küsste ihn.46Die aber legten Hand an ihn und ergriffen ihn.47Einer aber von denen, die dabeistanden, zog sein Schwert und schlug nach dem Knecht des Hohenpriesters und hieb ihm ein Ohr ab.48Und Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Seid ihr ausgezogen wie gegen einen Räuber mit Schwertern und mit Stangen, mich gefangen zu nehmen? (Mr 15:27)49Ich bin täglich bei euch im Tempel gewesen und habe gelehrt, und ihr habt mich nicht ergriffen. Aber so muss die Schrift erfüllt werden. (Mr 9:12)50Da verließen ihn alle und flohen.51Und ein junger Mann folgte ihm nach, der war mit einem Leinengewand bekleidet auf der bloßen Haut; und sie griffen nach ihm.52Er aber ließ das Gewand fahren und floh nackt. Jesus vor dem Hohen Rat
53Und sie führten Jesus zu dem Hohenpriester; und es versammelten sich alle Hohenpriester und Ältesten und Schriftgelehrten.54Petrus aber folgte ihm nach von ferne, bis hinein in den Palast des Hohenpriesters, und saß da bei den Knechten und wärmte sich am Feuer.55Aber die Hohenpriester und der ganze Hohe Rat suchten Zeugnis gegen Jesus, auf dass sie ihn zu Tode brächten, und fanden nichts.56Denn viele gaben falsches Zeugnis gegen ihn; aber ihr Zeugnis stimmte nicht überein. (Ps 27:12)57Und einige standen auf und gaben falsches Zeugnis gegen ihn und sprachen:58Wir haben gehört, dass er gesagt hat: Ich will diesen Tempel, der mit Händen gemacht ist, abbrechen und in drei Tagen einen andern bauen, der nicht mit Händen gemacht ist. (Mr 8:31; Mr 12:10; Mr 13:2)59Aber ihr Zeugnis stimmte auch darin nicht überein.60Und der Hohepriester stand auf, trat in die Mitte und fragte Jesus und sprach: Antwortest du nichts auf das, was diese gegen dich bezeugen?61Er aber schwieg still und antwortete nichts. Da fragte ihn der Hohepriester abermals und sprach zu ihm: Bist du der Christus, der Sohn des Hochgelobten? (Isa 53:7; Mr 8:29; Mr 15:5)62Jesus aber sprach: Ich bin’s; und ihr werdet sehen den Menschensohn sitzen zur Rechten der Kraft und kommen mit den Wolken des Himmels. (Ps 110:1; Da 7:13; Mr 12:36; Mr 13:26)63Da zerriss der Hohepriester seine Kleider und sprach: Was bedürfen wir weiterer Zeugen?64Ihr habt die Gotteslästerung gehört. Was meint ihr? Sie aber verurteilten ihn alle, dass er des Todes schuldig sei.65Da fingen einige an, ihn anzuspeien und sein Angesicht zu verdecken und ihn mit Fäusten zu schlagen und zu ihm zu sagen: Weissage uns! Und die Knechte schlugen ihn ins Angesicht. (Mr 15:19)
Die Verleugnung des Petrus
66Und Petrus war unten im Hof. Da kam eine von den Mägden des Hohenpriesters;67und als sie Petrus sah, wie er sich wärmte, schaute sie ihn an und sprach: Und du warst auch mit dem Jesus von Nazareth.68Er leugnete aber und sprach: Ich weiß nicht und verstehe nicht, was du sagst. Und er ging hinaus in den Vorhof, und der Hahn krähte.69Und die Magd sah ihn und fing abermals an, denen zu sagen, die dabeistanden: Dieser ist einer von denen.70Und er leugnete abermals. Und nach einer kleinen Weile sprachen die, die dabeistanden, abermals zu Petrus: Wahrhaftig, du bist einer von denen; denn du bist auch ein Galiläer.71Er aber fing an, sich zu verfluchen und zu schwören: Ich kenne den Menschen nicht, von dem ihr redet.72Und alsbald krähte der Hahn zum zweiten Mal. Da gedachte Petrus an das Wort, das Jesus zu ihm gesagt hatte: Ehe der Hahn zweimal kräht, wirst du mich dreimal verleugnen. Und er fing an zu weinen.
1La fête de la Pâque et des pains sans levain devait avoir lieu deux jours après. Les chefs des prêtres et les spécialistes de la loi cherchaient les moyens d'arrêter Jésus par ruse et de le faire mourir.2Ils se disaient en effet: «Que ce ne soit pas pendant la fête, afin qu'il n'y ait pas d'agitation parmi le peuple.»
Une femme verse du parfum sur Jésus
3Comme Jésus était à Béthanie, dans la maison de Simon le lépreux, une femme entra pendant qu'il se trouvait à table. Elle tenait un vase qui contenait un parfum de nard[1] pur très cher. Elle brisa le vase et versa le parfum sur la tête de Jésus.4Quelques-uns exprimèrent leur indignation entre eux: «A quoi bon gaspiller ce parfum?5On aurait pu le vendre plus de 300 pièces d'argent et les donner aux pauvres» et ils s'irritaient contre cette femme.6Mais Jésus dit: «Laissez-la. Pourquoi lui faites-vous de la peine? Elle a fait une bonne action envers moi.7En effet, vous avez toujours les pauvres avec vous et vous pouvez leur faire du bien quand vous le voulez, mais vous ne m'aurez pas toujours.8Elle a fait ce qu'elle a pu, elle a d'avance parfumé mon corps pour l'ensevelissement.9Je vous le dis en vérité, partout où cette bonne nouvelle sera proclamée, dans le monde entier, on racontera aussi en souvenir de cette femme ce qu'elle a fait.»10Judas l'Iscariot, l'un des douze, alla vers les chefs des prêtres afin de leur livrer Jésus.11Ils se réjouirent en l'entendant et promirent de lui donner de l'argent. Quant à Judas, il se mit à chercher une occasion favorable pour le trahir.
Institution de la cène

Vous rencontrerez un homme qui porte une cruche d'eau: suivez-le.14Là où il entrera, dites au propriétaire de la maison: ‘Le maître dit: Où est la salle où je mangerai la Pâque avec mes disciples?’15Alors il vous montrera une grande chambre à l'étage, aménagée et toute prête: c'est là que vous nous préparerez la Pâque.»16Ses disciples partirent, arrivèrent à la ville et trouvèrent tout comme il le leur avait dit, et ils préparèrent la Pâque.17Le soir venu, il s'y rendit avec les douze.18Pendant qu'ils étaient à table et qu'ils mangeaient, Jésus dit: «Je vous le dis en vérité, l'un de vous, qui mange avec moi, me trahira.»19Ils devinrent tout tristes et lui dirent l'un après l'autre: «Est-ce moi?»20Il leur répondit: «C'est l'un des douze, celui qui met la main dans le plat avec moi.21Le Fils de l'homme s'en va conformément à ce qui est écrit à son sujet, mais malheur à l'homme par qui le Fils de l'homme est trahi! Mieux vaudrait pour cet homme qu'il ne soit pas né.»22Pendant qu'ils mangeaient, Jésus prit du pain et, après avoir prononcé la prière de bénédiction, il le rompit et le leur donna en disant: «Prenez, [mangez,] ceci est mon corps.»23Il prit ensuite une coupe et, après avoir remercié Dieu, il la leur donna et ils en burent tous.24Il leur dit: «Ceci est mon sang, le sang de la [nouvelle] alliance, qui est versé pour beaucoup.25Je vous le dis en vérité, je ne boirai plus jamais du fruit de la vigne, jusqu'au jour où je le boirai nouveau dans le royaume de Dieu.»26Après avoir chanté les psaumes, ils se rendirent au mont des Oliviers.27Jésus leur dit: «Vous trébucherez tous, [cette nuit, à cause de moi,] car il est écrit: Je frapperai le berger, et les brebis seront dispersées.[3] (Zec 13:7)28Mais, après ma résurrection, je vous précéderai en Galilée.»29Pierre lui dit: «Même si tous trébuchent, ce ne sera pas mon cas.»30Jésus lui dit: «Je te le dis en vérité, aujourd'hui, cette nuit même, avant que le coq chante [deux fois], toi, tu me renieras trois fois.»31Mais Pierre reprit plus fortement: «Même s'il me faut mourir avec toi, je ne te renierai pas.» Et tous dirent la même chose.
Arrestation de Jésus
32Ils se rendirent ensuite dans un endroit appelé Gethsémané, et Jésus dit à ses disciples: «Asseyez-vous ici pendant que je prierai.»33Il prit avec lui Pierre, Jacques et Jean, et il commença à être saisi de frayeur et d'angoisse.34Il leur dit: «Mon âme est triste à en mourir; restez ici, éveillés.»35Puis il avança de quelques pas, se jeta contre terre et pria que, si cela était possible, cette heure s'éloigne de lui.36Il disait: «Abba, Père, tout t'est possible. Eloigne de moi cette coupe! Toutefois, non pas ce que je veux, mais ce que tu veux.»37Il vint vers les disciples, qu'il trouva endormis, et il dit à Pierre: «Simon, tu dors! Tu n'as pas pu rester éveillé une seule heure!38Restez vigilants et priez pour ne pas céder à la tentation. L'esprit est bien disposé, mais par nature l'homme est faible.»39Il s'éloigna de nouveau et fit la même prière.40Il revint et les trouva encore endormis, car ils avaient les paupières lourdes. Ils ne surent que lui répondre.41Il revint pour la troisième fois et leur dit: «Vous dormez maintenant et vous vous reposez! C'est assez! L'heure est venue; voici que le Fils de l'homme est livré entre les mains des pécheurs.42Levez-vous, allons-y! Celui qui me trahit s'approche.»43Il parlait encore quand soudain arriva Judas, l'un des douze, avec une foule armée d'épées et de bâtons envoyée par les chefs des prêtres, par les spécialistes de la loi et par les anciens.44Celui qui le trahissait leur avait donné ce signe: «L'homme auquel je donnerai un baiser, c'est lui. Arrêtez-le et emmenez-le sous bonne garde!»45Dès qu'il fut arrivé, il s'approcha de Jésus en disant: «Maître!» et il l'embrassa.46Alors ces gens mirent la main sur Jésus et l'arrêtèrent.47Un de ceux qui étaient là tira l'épée, frappa le serviteur du grand-prêtre et lui emporta l'oreille.48Jésus prit la parole et leur dit: «Vous êtes venus vous emparer de moi avec des épées et des bâtons, comme pour un brigand.49J'étais tous les jours parmi vous, enseignant dans le temple, et vous ne m'avez pas arrêté. Mais c'est afin que les Ecritures soient accomplies.»50Alors tous l'abandonnèrent et prirent la fuite.51Un jeune homme le suivait, habillé d'un simple drap. On l'attrapa,52mais il lâcha le drap et se sauva tout nu.
Jésus devant le conseil juif
53Ils emmenèrent Jésus chez le grand-prêtre, où se rassemblèrent tous les chefs des prêtres, les anciens et les spécialistes de la loi.54Pierre le suivit de loin jusqu'à l'intérieur de la cour du grand-prêtre; il s'assit avec les serviteurs et il se chauffait près du feu.55Les chefs des prêtres et tout le sanhédrin[4] cherchaient un témoignage contre Jésus pour le faire mourir, et ils n'en trouvaient pas.56Beaucoup rendaient en effet de faux témoignages contre lui, mais les témoignages n'étaient pas concordants.57Quelques-uns se levèrent et portèrent un faux témoignage contre lui en disant:58«Nous l'avons entendu dire: ‘Je détruirai ce temple fait par la main de l'homme, et en trois jours j'en construirai un autre qui ne sera pas fait de main d'homme.’»59Même sur ce point-là, leurs témoignages ne concordaient pas.60Alors le grand-prêtre se leva au milieu de l'assemblée et interrogea Jésus en disant: «Ne réponds-tu rien? Pourquoi ces gens témoignent-ils contre toi?»61Mais Jésus gardait le silence et ne répondit rien. Le grand-prêtre l'interrogea de nouveau et lui dit: «Es-tu le Messie, le Fils du Dieu béni?»62Jésus répondit: «Je le suis. Et vous verrez le Fils de l'homme assis à la droite du Tout-Puissant et venant sur les nuées du ciel.[5]» (Ps 110:1; Da 7:13)63Alors le grand-prêtre déchira ses vêtements et dit: «Qu'avons-nous encore besoin de témoins?64Vous avez entendu le blasphème. Qu'en pensez-vous?» Tous le condamnèrent, déclarant qu'il méritait la mort.65Quelques-uns se mirent à cracher sur lui, à lui mettre un voile sur le visage et à le frapper à coups de poing en lui disant: «Devine!» Même les serviteurs le frappaient en lui donnant des gifles.66Pendant que Pierre était en bas dans la cour, une des servantes du grand-prêtre arriva.67Elle vit Pierre qui se chauffait, le regarda et lui dit: «Toi aussi, tu étais avec Jésus de Nazareth.»68Il le nia en disant: «Je ne sais ni ne comprends ce que tu veux dire.» Puis il sortit pour aller dans le vestibule. [Alors un coq chanta.]69La servante le vit et se mit à dire de nouveau à ceux qui étaient présents: «Il fait partie de ces gens-là.» Il le nia de nouveau.70Peu après, ceux qui étaient présents dirent encore à Pierre: «Certainement, tu fais partie de ces gens-là, car tu es galiléen, [tu as le même langage].»71Alors il se mit à jurer en lançant des malédictions: «Je ne connais pas cet homme dont vous parlez.»72[Aussitôt,] pour la seconde fois, un coq chanta. Pierre se souvint alors de ce que Jésus lui avait dit: «Avant que le coq chante deux fois, tu me renieras trois fois.» Et en y réfléchissant, il pleurait.
