False Prophets Condemned

1 The word of the Lord came to me: 

2 “Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel, who are prophesying, and say to those who prophesy from their own hearts: ‘Hear the word of the Lord!’ (Jer 23:16; Jer 23:26; Eze 2:1; Eze 13:17) 

3 Thus says the Lord God, Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing! 

4 Your prophets have been like jackals among ruins, O Israel. 

5 You have not gone up into the breaches, or built up a wall for the house of Israel, that it might stand in battle in the day of the Lord. (Ps 80:12; Ps 106:23; Isa 5:5; Isa 58:12; Eze 22:30) 

6 They have seen false visions and lying divinations. They say, ‘Declares the Lord,’ when the Lord has not sent them, and yet they expect him to fulfill their word. (Jer 5:31; Jer 14:14; Eze 12:24; Eze 13:23; Eze 21:29; Eze 22:28) 

7 Have you not seen a false vision and uttered a lying divination, whenever you have said, ‘Declares the Lord,’ although I have not spoken?” (Jer 23:21) 

8 Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Because you have uttered falsehood and seen lying visions, therefore behold, I am against you, declares the Lord God. (Jer 21:13; Eze 5:8; Eze 21:3; Eze 26:3; Eze 28:22; Eze 29:3; Eze 30:22; Eze 34:10; Eze 35:3; Eze 38:3) 

9 My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who give lying divinations. They shall not be in the council of my people, nor be enrolled in the register of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter the land of Israel. And you shall know that I am the Lord God. (Ezr 2:59; Ezr 2:62; Ne 7:5; Ps 69:28; Ps 87:6; Eze 6:7; Eze 20:38) 

10 Precisely because they have misled my people, saying, ‘Peace,’ when there is no peace, and because, when the people build a wall, these prophets smear it with whitewash, (Jer 6:14; Eze 13:16; Eze 22:28; Mic 3:5) 

11 say to those who smear it with whitewash that it shall fall! There will be a deluge of rain, and you, O great hailstones, will fall, and a stormy wind break out. (Isa 28:2; Isa 28:17; Isa 30:13; Eze 38:22) 

12 And when the wall falls, will it not be said to you, ‘Where is the coating with which you smeared it?’ 

13 Therefore thus says the Lord God: I will make a stormy wind break out in my wrath, and there shall be a deluge of rain in my anger, and great hailstones in wrath to make a full end. (Eze 13:11) 

14 And I will break down the wall that you have smeared with whitewash, and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation will be laid bare. When it falls, you shall perish in the midst of it, and you shall know that I am the Lord. (Eze 6:7) 

15 Thus will I spend my wrath upon the wall and upon those who have smeared it with whitewash, and I will say to you, The wall is no more, nor those who smeared it, 

16 the prophets of Israel who prophesied concerning Jerusalem and saw visions of peace for her, when there was no peace, declares the Lord God. (Eze 13:10) 

17 “And you, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own hearts. Prophesy against them (Ex 15:20; Jud 4:4; 2Ki 22:14; Eze 6:2; Eze 13:2) 

18 and say, Thus says the Lord God: Woe to the women who sew magic bands upon all wrists, and make veils for the heads of persons of every stature, in the hunt for souls! Will you hunt down souls belonging to my people and keep your own souls alive? (Eze 13:20; Eze 13:21) 

19 You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, putting to death souls who should not die and keeping alive souls who should not live, by your lying to my people, who listen to lies. (Pr 28:21; Mic 3:5) 

20 “Therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against your magic bands with which you hunt the souls like birds, and I will tear them from your arms, and I will let the souls whom you hunt go free, the souls like birds. (Eze 13:8; Eze 13:18) 

21 Your veils also I will tear off and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand as prey, and you shall know that I am the Lord. (Eze 6:7; Eze 34:10) 

22 Because you have disheartened the righteous falsely, although I have not grieved him, and you have encouraged the wicked, that he should not turn from his evil way to save his life, (Jer 14:14; Jer 23:14; Jer 28:15; Eze 18:21) 

23 therefore you shall no more see false visions nor practice divination. I will deliver my people out of your hand. And you shall know that I am the Lord.” (Eze 13:6; Eze 13:9)

Gegen die falschen Propheten

1 Und des HERRN Wort geschah zu mir: 

2 Du Menschenkind, weissage gegen die Propheten Israels, die da weissagen, und sprich zu denen, die aus ihrem eigenen Herzen weissagen »Höret des HERRN Wort!«: 

3 So spricht Gott der HERR: Weh den törichten Propheten, die ihrem eigenen Geist folgen und nichts geschaut haben! (Jer 14:14) 

4 O Israel, deine Propheten sind wie die Füchse in den Trümmern! 

5 Ihr seid nicht in die Bresche getreten und habt keine Mauer errichtet um das Haus Israel, damit es fest steht im Kampf am Tage des HERRN. (Ps 106:23; Eze 22:30) 

6 Ihre Gesichte sind nichtig, und ihr Weissagen ist Lüge. Sie sprechen: »Der HERR hat’s gesagt«, und doch hat sie der HERR nicht gesandt, und sie warten darauf, dass er ihr Wort erfüllt. (Jer 5:31; Eze 22:28) 

7 Ist’s nicht vielmehr so: Eure Gesichte sind nichtig, und euer Weissagen ist lauter Lüge? Und ihr sprecht doch: »Der HERR hat’s geredet«, wo ich doch nichts geredet habe. 

8 Darum, so spricht Gott der HERR: Weil ihr Trug geredet und Lüge geschaut habt, siehe, darum will ich an euch, spricht Gott der HERR. 

9 Und meine Hand soll über die Propheten kommen, die Trug reden und Lüge schauen. Sie sollen in der Gemeinschaft meines Volks nicht bleiben und in das Buch des Hauses Israel nicht eingeschrieben werden und ins Land Israels nicht kommen – und ihr sollt erfahren, dass ich Gott der HERR bin. 

10 Weil sie mein Volk verführen und sagen: »Friede!«, wo doch kein Friede ist, und weil sie, wenn das Volk sich eine Wand baut, sie mit Kalk übertünchen, (Jer 6:14) 

11 so sprich zu den Tünchern, die mit Kalk tünchen: »Die Wand wird einfallen!« Denn es wird ein Platzregen kommen und Hagel wie Steine fallen und ein Wirbelwind losbrechen. 

12 Siehe, da wird die Wand einfallen. Was gilt’s? Dann wird man zu euch sagen: Wo ist nun der Anstrich, den ihr darüber getüncht habt? 

13 Darum, so spricht Gott der HERR: Ich will einen Wirbelwind losbrechen lassen in meinem Grimm und einen Platzregen in meinem Zorn und Hagel wie Steine im Grimm, um alles zu vernichten. 

14 So will ich die Wand niederreißen, die ihr mit Kalk übertüncht habt, und will sie zu Boden stoßen, dass man ihren Grund sehen soll. Wenn sie fällt, sollt ihr auch darin umkommen. Und ihr sollt erfahren, dass ich der HERR bin. 

15 Und ich will meinen ganzen Grimm an der Wand auslassen und an denen, die sie mit Kalk übertüncht haben, und will zu euch sagen: Hier ist weder Wand noch Tüncher. 

16 Das sind die Propheten Israels, die Jerusalem weissagen und predigen »Friede!«, wo doch kein Friede ist, spricht Gott der HERR. 

Gegen falsche Prophetinnen

17 Und du, Menschenkind, richte dein Angesicht gegen die Töchter deines Volks, die aus eigenem Antrieb als Prophetinnen auftreten, und weissage gegen sie 

18 und sprich: So spricht Gott der HERR: Weh euch, die ihr Binden näht für alle Handgelenke und Mützen für Köpfe jeder Größe, um Seelen damit zu fangen! Wollt ihr Seelen fangen in meinem Volk und Seelen für euch am Leben erhalten? 

19 Ihr entheiligt mich bei meinem Volk für eine Hand voll Gerste und einen Bissen Brot, dadurch dass ihr Seelen tötet, die nicht sterben sollten, und Seelen am Leben erhaltet, die nicht leben sollten, durch euer Lügen unter meinem Volk, das gern auf Lügen hört. 

20 Darum, so spricht Gott der HERR: Siehe, ich will über eure Binden kommen, mit denen ihr die Seelen fangt wie Vögel, und will sie von euren Armen reißen und die Seelen, die ihr wie Vögel gefangen habt, befreien. 

21 Und ich will eure Mützen wegreißen und mein Volk aus eurer Hand erretten, dass ihr sie nicht mehr fangen könnt. Und ihr sollt erfahren, dass ich der HERR bin. 

22 Weil ihr das Herz der Gerechten durch Lügen betrübt, die ich nicht betrübt habe, und die Hände der Gottlosen stärkt, damit sie sich von ihrem bösen Wandel nicht bekehren, um ihr Leben zu retten: (Jer 23:14; Eze 18:23) 

23 Darum sollt ihr nicht mehr Trug schauen und wahrsagen, sondern ich will mein Volk aus euren Händen erretten und ihr sollt erfahren, dass ich der HERR bin.

Condamnation des prétendus prophètes

1 La parole de l'Eternel m'a été adressée: 

2 «Fils de l'homme, prophétise à l'intention des prophètes d'Israël! Tu diras à ceux qui prophétisent d'après leurs penchants: ‘Ecoutez la parole de l'Eternel!’ 

3 »Voici ce que dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel: Malheur aux prophètes fous qui suivent leur propre inspiration et ne discernent rien! 

4 Tes prophètes, Israël, sont pareils à des renards au milieu des ruines. 

5 Vous n'êtes pas montés devant les brèches, vous n'avez pas construit de mur pour la communauté d'Israël afin de tenir ferme dans le combat, le jour de l'Eternel. 

6 »Leurs visions ne sont que fausseté et leurs prédictions que mensonge. Ils affirment: ‘C'est ce que déclare l'Eternel’, alors que l'Eternel ne les a pas envoyés, et ils font espérer que leur parole s'accomplira. 

7 Les visions que vous avez ne sont-elles pas fausses et les oracles que vous prononcez ne sont-ils pas mensongers? Vous affirmez: ‘C'est ce que déclare l'Eternel’, alors que moi, je n'ai pas parlé! 

8 »C'est pourquoi, voici ce que dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel: Parce que vous affirmez des faussetés et que vos visions sont mensongères, je vous en veux, dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel. 

9 Ma main s'attaquera aux prophètes qui ont de fausses visions et prédisent des mensonges. Ils n'appartiendront pas au conseil de mon peuple, ils ne seront pas inscrits dans le registre de la communauté d'Israël et ils ne reviendront pas dans le pays d'Israël. Vous reconnaîtrez alors que je suis le Seigneur, l'Eternel. 

10 »Tout cela arrivera parce qu'ils égarent mon peuple en affirmant que tout va bien, alors que rien ne va. Mon peuple construit un muret et eux, ils le couvrent de plâtre. 

11 Annonce à ceux qui le couvrent de plâtre qu'il s'écroulera! Une pluie torrentielle surviendra. Vous, grêlons, vous tomberez et la tempête éclatera. 

12 Une fois le mur écroulé, ne vous dira-t-on pas: ‘Où est le plâtre dont vous l'avez couvert?’ 

13 »C'est pourquoi, voici ce que dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel: Dans ma fureur, je ferai éclater la tempête; dans ma colère, une pluie torrentielle surviendra. Les grêlons tomberont avec fureur, avec la destruction pour objectif. 

14 J'abattrai le mur que vous avez couvert de plâtre, je le jetterai par terre et ses fondations seront mises à nu. Jérusalem s'écroulera et vous disparaîtrez dans ses ruines. Vous reconnaîtrez alors que je suis l'Eternel. 

15 »J'irai ainsi jusqu'au bout de ma fureur contre ce mur et contre ceux qui l'ont couvert de plâtre. Alors je vous dirai: ‘Plus de mur! Plus personne pour le replâtrer! 

16 Plus de prophètes d'Israël qui prophétisent à l'intention de Jérusalem, qui ont des visions affirmant que tout va bien alors que rien ne va, déclare le Seigneur, l'Eternel.’ 

17 »Quant à toi, fils de l'homme, tourne ton visage vers les filles de ton peuple qui prophétisent d'après leurs penchants et prophétise contre elles! 

18 Tu diras: ‘Voici ce que dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel: Malheur à celles qui cousent des coussinets pour tous les poignets et qui confectionnent des voiles de toute taille pour la tête, afin de prendre des personnes au piège! Pensez-vous pouvoir prendre au piège les membres de mon peuple et préserver votre propre vie? 

19 Vous me déshonorez auprès de mon peuple pour des poignées d'orge et des morceaux de pain en faisant mourir ceux qui ne doivent pas mourir et en faisant vivre ceux qui ne doivent pas vivre. En effet, vous mentez à mon peuple et il croit à vos mensonges. 

20 »C'est pourquoi voici ce que dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel: Je m'en prends à vos coussinets, qui vous permettent de prendre des personnes au piège comme des oiseaux. Je les arracherai de vos bras et je laisserai partir les personnes dont vous cherchez à prendre l'âme au piège comme des oiseaux. 

21 J'arracherai aussi vos voiles et je délivrerai mon peuple de votre pouvoir: ils ne seront plus une proie entre vos mains. Vous reconnaîtrez alors que je suis l'Eternel. 

22 »Vous découragez le juste par des mensonges, alors que moi-même je ne l'ai pas attristé, et vous encouragez le méchant, l'empêchant ainsi de renoncer à sa mauvaise conduite et de conserver la vie. 

23 C'est pourquoi, vous n'aurez plus de fausses visions et vous ne transmettrez plus de prédictions. Je délivrerai mon peuple de votre pouvoir. Vous reconnaîtrez alors que je suis l'Eternel.’»
