Give Thanks to the Lord, for He Is Good

1 Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! (1Ch 16:34; 1Ch 16:41; Ps 100:5; Ps 105:1; Ps 105:45) 

2 Who can utter the mighty deeds of the LORD, or declare all his praise? 

3 Blessed are they who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times! (Ps 15:2) 

4 Remember me, O LORD, when you show favor to your people; help me when you save them, (Ps 119:132) 

5 that I may look upon the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that I may glory with your inheritance. (Ps 105:6; Ps 105:43) 

6 Both we and our fathers have sinned; we have committed iniquity; we have done wickedness. (Le 26:40; 1Ki 8:47; Ezr 9:6; Ne 1:6; Ne 1:7; Ne 9:16; Ps 79:8; Jer 3:25; Jer 14:20; Da 9:5) 

7 Our fathers, when they were in Egypt, did not consider your wondrous works; they did not remember the abundance of your steadfast love, but rebelled by the sea, at the Red Sea. (Ex 14:11; Ex 14:12; Ps 106:13) 

8 Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make known his mighty power. (Ex 9:16; Eze 20:9; Eze 20:14) 

9 He rebuked the Red Sea, and it became dry, and he led them through the deep as through a desert. (Ex 14:21; Ps 18:15; Ps 104:7; Isa 50:2; Isa 51:10; Isa 63:13) 

10 So he saved them from the hand of the foe and redeemed them from the power of the enemy. (Ex 14:30; Ps 107:2) 

11 And the waters covered their adversaries; not one of them was left. (Ex 14:28; Ex 15:5) 

12 Then they believed his words; they sang his praise. (Ex 14:31; Ex 15:1) 

13 But they soon forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel. (Ex 15:24; Ex 16:2; Ex 17:2; Ps 78:11; Ps 107:11) 

14 But they had a wanton craving in the wilderness, and put God to the test in the desert; (Ex 17:2; Nu 11:4; Ps 78:18; 1Co 10:6; 1Co 10:9) 

15 he gave them what they asked, but sent a wasting disease among them. (Ps 78:29; Isa 10:16) 

16 When men in the camp were jealous of Moses and Aaron, the holy one of the LORD, (Nu 16:1; De 33:2; Zec 14:5; Jud 1:14) 

17 the earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram. (Nu 16:31; Nu 16:32; De 11:6) 

18 Fire also broke out in their company; the flame burned up the wicked. (Nu 16:35) 

19 They made a calf in Horeb and worshiped a metal image. (Ex 32:4; De 9:8; Ac 7:41) 

20 They exchanged the glory of God for the image of an ox that eats grass. (Jer 2:11; Ro 1:23) 

21 They forgot God, their Savior, who had done great things in Egypt, (De 32:18; Ps 78:11; Ps 106:7) 

22 wondrous works in the land of Ham, and awesome deeds by the Red Sea. (Ps 78:51; Ps 105:23; Ps 105:27) 

23 Therefore he said he would destroy them— had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him, to turn away his wrath from destroying them. (Ex 32:10; De 9:14; Ps 105:6; Eze 20:8; Eze 22:30) 

24 Then they despised the pleasant land, having no faith in his promise. (Nu 14:31; De 1:32; De 9:23; Zec 7:14) 

25 They murmured in their tents, and did not obey the voice of the LORD. (Nu 14:2; De 1:27) 

26 Therefore he raised his hand and swore to them that he would make them fall in the wilderness, (Ex 6:8; Nu 14:30; De 32:40; Ps 95:11; Eze 20:6; Eze 20:15; Eze 20:23) 

27 and would make their offspring fall among the nations, scattering them among the lands. (Ps 44:11) 

28 Then they yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead; (Nu 25:3; Isa 8:19; Ho 9:10) 

29 they provoked the LORD to anger with their deeds, and a plague broke out among them. 

30 Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was stayed. (Nu 25:7; Nu 25:8) 

31 And that was counted to him as righteousness from generation to generation forever. (Ge 15:6) 

32 They angered him at the waters of Meribah, and it went ill with Moses on their account, (Nu 20:2; De 1:37) 

33 for they made his spirit bitter, and he spoke rashly with his lips. (Nu 20:10; Ps 78:40; Ps 107:11; Isa 63:10) 

34 They did not destroy the peoples, as the LORD commanded them, (De 7:2; De 7:16; Jud 1:21; Jud 1:27; Jud 2:2) 

35 but they mixed with the nations and learned to do as they did. (Jud 3:5; Jud 3:6; Ezr 9:2) 

36 They served their idols, which became a snare to them. (Ex 23:33; De 7:16; Jud 2:3) 

37 They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons; (De 32:17; 2Ki 16:3; Isa 57:5; Eze 16:20; Eze 20:26; 1Co 10:20) 

38 they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood. (Isa 24:5) 

39 Thus they became unclean by their acts, and played the whore in their deeds. (Ps 73:27; Eze 20:18; Eze 20:30; Eze 20:31) 

40 Then the anger of the LORD was kindled against his people, and he abhorred his heritage; (Jud 2:14; Ps 28:9; Ps 78:59; Ps 78:62) 

41 he gave them into the hand of the nations, so that those who hated them ruled over them. (Ne 9:27) 

42 Their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their power. (Jud 4:3; Jud 10:12) 

43 Many times he delivered them, but they were rebellious in their purposes and were brought low through their iniquity. (Le 26:39; Jud 2:16; Ps 81:12) 

44 Nevertheless, he looked upon their distress, when he heard their cry. (Jud 3:9; Jud 4:3; Jud 6:7; Jud 10:10) 

45 For their sake he remembered his covenant, and relented according to the abundance of his steadfast love. (Le 26:42; Ps 51:1; Ps 69:16; Ps 90:13; Ps 105:8; Ps 106:7; Isa 63:7; La 3:32) 

46 He caused them to be pitied by all those who held them captive. (1Ki 8:50; 2Ch 30:9; Ezr 9:9; Ne 1:11; Jer 42:12) 

47 Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. (1Ch 16:35; 1Ch 16:36; Ps 107:3) 

48 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! And let all the people say, “Amen!” Praise the LORD! (Ps 41:13; Ps 104:35)

Gottes Gnade und Israels Undank

1 Halleluja! Danket dem HERRN; denn er ist freundlich, und seine Güte währet ewiglich. (1Ch 16:34; Ps 100:4; Ps 107:1; Ps 118:1; Ps 136:1) 

2 Wer kann die großen Taten des HERRN alle erzählen und sein Lob genug verkündigen? (Joh 21:25; Heb 11:32) 

3 Wohl denen, die das Gebot halten und tun immerdar recht! 

4 HERR, gedenke meiner nach der Gnade, die du deinem Volk verheißen hast; erweise an uns deine Hilfe, 

5 dass wir sehen das Heil deiner Auserwählten und uns freuen, dass es deinem Volke so gut geht, und uns rühmen mit denen, die dein Eigen sind. 

6 Wir haben gesündigt samt unsern Vätern, wir haben unrecht getan und sind gottlos gewesen. (Da 9:5) 

7 Unsre Väter in Ägypten wollten deine Wunder nicht verstehen. Sie gedachten nicht an deine große Güte und waren ungehorsam am Meer, am Schilfmeer. (Ex 14:11) 

8 Er aber half ihnen um seines Namens willen, dass er kundtue seine Macht. 

9 Er schalt das Schilfmeer, da wurde es trocken, und führte sie durch die Tiefen wie durch trockenes Land 

10 und half ihnen aus der Hand dessen, der sie hasste, und erlöste sie von der Hand des Feindes. 

11 Und die Wasser bedeckten ihre Widersacher, dass nicht einer übrig blieb. 

12 Da glaubten sie an seine Worte und sangen sein Lob. (Ex 15:21) 

13 Aber sie vergaßen bald seine Werke, sie warteten nicht auf seinen Rat. 

14 Und sie wurden lüstern in der Wüste und versuchten Gott in der Einöde. (Nu 11:4) 

15 Er aber gab ihnen, was sie erbaten, und sandte ihnen eine Plage. (Nu 11:33) 

16 Und sie empörten sich wider Mose im Lager, wider Aaron, den Heiligen des HERRN. (Nu 16:1) 

17 Die Erde tat sich auf und verschlang Datan und deckte zu die Rotte Abirams, (Nu 16:31) 

18 und Feuer wurde unter ihrer Rotte angezündet, die Flamme verbrannte die Frevler. 

19 Sie machten ein Kalb am Horeb und beteten das gegossene Bild an (Ex 32:1) 

20 und tauschten die Herrlichkeit Gottes gegen das Bild eines Ochsen, der Gras frisst. (Ro 1:23) 

21 Sie vergaßen Gott, ihren Heiland, der so große Dinge in Ägypten getan hatte, (De 32:18) 

22 Wunder im Lande Hams und schreckliche Wunder am Schilfmeer. 

23 Und er gedachte, sie zu vertilgen, wäre nicht Mose gewesen, sein Auserwählter; der trat vor ihm in die Bresche, seinen Grimm abzuwenden, dass er sie nicht verderbe. (De 9:25) 

24 Und sie achteten das köstliche Land gering; sie glaubten seinem Worte nicht (De 8:7) 

25 und murrten in ihren Zelten; sie gehorchten der Stimme des HERRN nicht. 

26 Da erhob er seine Hand wider sie, dass er sie niederschlüge in der Wüste 

27 und würfe ihre Nachkommen unter die Völker und zerstreute sie in die Länder. 

28 Und sie hängten sich an den Baal-Peor und aßen von den Opfern für die Toten (Nu 25:3) 

29 und erzürnten den Herrn mit ihrem Tun. Da brach die Plage herein über sie. 

30 Da trat Pinhas hinzu und vollzog das Gericht; da wurde der Plage gewehrt; (Nu 25:7) 

31 das wurde ihm gerechnet zur Gerechtigkeit von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht ewiglich. 

32 Und sie erzürnten den Herrn am Haderwasser, und Mose ging es übel um ihretwillen; (Nu 20:2) 

33 denn sie erbitterten seinen Sinn, dass ihm unbedachte Worte entfuhren. 

34 Auch vertilgten sie die Völker nicht, wie ihnen der HERR doch geboten hatte, (De 7:1; De 12:2; Jud 1:28; Jud 2:23) 

35 sondern vermischten sich mit den Heiden und lernten ihre Werke 

36 und dienten ihren Götzen; die wurden ihnen zum Fallstrick. 

37 Und sie opferten ihre Söhne und ihre Töchter den bösen Geistern (Le 18:21; 2Ki 21:6; 2Ki 21:16) 

38 und vergossen unschuldig Blut, das Blut ihrer Söhne und Töchter, die sie opferten den Götzen Kanaans, sodass das Land mit Blutschuld befleckt ward. 

39 Sie machten sich unrein mit ihren Werken und wurden abtrünnig durch ihr Tun. 

40 Da entbrannte der Zorn des HERRN über sein Volk, und sein Erbe wurde ihm zum Abscheu. 

41 Er gab sie in die Hand der Völker, dass über sie herrschten, die ihnen gram waren. (Jud 2:14) 

42 Und ihre Feinde bedrängten sie, und sie wurden gedemütigt unter ihre Hand. 

43 Er errettete sie oftmals; / aber sie erzürnten ihn mit ihrem Vorhaben und schwanden dahin um ihrer Missetat willen. 

44 Da sah er ihre Not an, als er ihre Klage hörte, 

45 und gedachte um ihretwillen an seinen Bund, und es reute ihn nach seiner großen Güte. 

46 Und er ließ sie Barmherzigkeit finden bei allen, die sie gefangen hielten. 

47 Hilf uns, HERR, unser Gott, und bring uns zusammen aus den Völkern, dass wir preisen deinen heiligen Namen und uns rühmen, dass wir dich loben können! (De 30:3; 1Ch 16:35) 

48 Gelobt sei der HERR, der Gott Israels, von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit, und alles Volk spreche: Amen! Halleluja! (1Ch 16:36; Ps 41:14)

1 Alleluia! Celebrate il Signore, perché egli è buono, perché la sua bontà dura in eterno. 

2 Chi può raccontare le gesta del Signore, o proclamare tutta la sua lode? 

3 Beati coloro che osservano ciò che è prescritto, che fanno ciò che è giusto, in ogni tempo! 

4 O Signore, ricòrdati di me quando usi benevolenza verso il tuo popolo; visitami quando lo salverai, 

5 perché io veda la felicità dei tuoi eletti, mi rallegri della gioia della tua nazione ed esulti con la tua eredità. 

6 Noi e i nostri padri abbiamo peccato, abbiamo mancato, abbiamo fatto il male. 

7 I nostri padri in Egitto non compresero i tuoi prodigi; non ricordarono le tue numerose benedizioni e si ribellarono presso il mare, il mar Rosso. 

8 Ma egli li salvò per amore del suo nome, per far conoscere la sua potenza. 

9 Sgridò il mar Rosso ed esso si prosciugò; li guidò attraverso gli abissi marini come attraverso un deserto. 

10 Li salvò dalla mano di chi li odiava e li riscattò dalla mano del nemico. 

11 Le acque ricoprirono i loro avversari; non ne scampò neppure uno. 

12 Allora credettero alle sue parole e cantarono la sua lode. 

13 Ben presto però dimenticarono le sue opere; non aspettarono fiduciosi l’adempimento del suo piano, 

14 ma nel deserto furono presi da cupidigia e tentarono Dio nella solitudine. 

15 Ed egli diede loro quanto chiedevano, ma provocò in loro un morbo consumante. 

16 Divennero invidiosi di Mosè nell’accampamento, e di Aaronne, il santo del Signore. 

17 La terra si aprì, inghiottì Datan e seppellì il gruppo di Abiram. 

18 Un fuoco divampò nella loro assemblea, la fiamma consumò gli empi. 

19 Fecero un vitello in Oreb e adorarono un’immagine di metallo fuso; 

20 così sostituirono la gloria di Dio con la figura di un bue che mangia l’erba. 

21 Dimenticarono Dio, loro salvatore, che aveva fatto cose grandi in Egitto, 

22 cose meravigliose nel paese di Cam, cose tremende sul mar Rosso. 

23 Egli parlò di sterminarli; tuttavia Mosè, suo eletto, stette sulla breccia davanti a lui per impedire all’ira sua di distruggerli. 

24 Disprezzarono il paese delizioso, non credettero alla sua parola; 

25 mormorarono sotto le loro tende e non ascoltarono la voce del Signore. 

26 Perciò, egli alzò la mano su di loro giurando di abbatterli nel deserto, 

27 di far perire i loro discendenti fra le nazioni e di disperderli per tutti i paesi. 

28 Si misero sotto il giogo di Baal-Peor e mangiarono i sacrifici dei morti. 

29 Irritarono Dio con le loro azioni e una pestilenza scoppiò tra loro. 

30 Ma Fineas si alzò, fece giustizia e il flagello cessò. 

31 E ciò gli fu messo in conto come giustizia di generazione in generazione, per sempre. 

32 Lo provocarono presso le acque di Meriba e ne venne del male a Mosè per causa loro; 

33 perché inasprirono il suo spirito ed egli parlò senza riflettere. 

34 Essi non distrussero i popoli, come il Signore aveva loro comandato; 

35 ma si mescolarono con le nazioni e impararono le loro opere. 

36 Servirono i loro idoli, che divennero un laccio per essi; 

37 sacrificarono i propri figli e le proprie figlie ai demòni, 

38 e sparsero il sangue innocente, il sangue dei propri figli e delle proprie figlie, che sacrificarono agli idoli di Canaan; e il paese fu profanato dal sangue versato. 

39 Essi si contaminarono con le loro opere e si prostituirono con i loro atti. 

40 L’ira del Signore si accese contro il suo popolo ed egli prese in abominio la sua eredità. 

41 Li diede nelle mani delle nazioni e furono dominati da quanti li odiavano. 

42 I loro nemici li oppressero, e furono umiliati sotto la loro mano. 

43 Molte volte li liberò, ma essi si ostinavano a ribellarsi e si rovinavano per la loro iniquità. 

44 Tuttavia, volse a loro lo sguardo quando furono in angoscia, quando udì il loro grido; 

45 si ricordò del suo patto con loro e nella sua grande misericordia si pentì. 

46 Fece sì che avessero compassione di loro tutti quelli che li avevano deportati. 

47 Salvaci, o Signore, Dio nostro, e raccoglici di tra le nazioni, perché celebriamo il tuo santo nome e troviamo la nostra gloria nel lodarti. 

48 Benedetto sia il Signore, il Dio d’Israele, d’eternità in eternità! E tutto il popolo dica: «Amen!» Alleluia.
