Who Can Stand Before You?

To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song.

1 In Judah God is known; his name is great in Israel. (Ps 48:3) 2 His abode has been established in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion. (Ge 14:18; Ps 9:11; Ps 27:5; Ps 74:2; La 2:6)

3 There he broke the flashing arrows, the shield, the sword, and the weapons of war. Selah (Ps 46:9; Eze 39:9) 4 Glorious are you, more majestic than the mountains full of prey. (Isa 14:25; Eze 39:4; Na 2:13) 5 The stouthearted were stripped of their spoil; they sank into sleep; all the men of war were unable to use their hands. 6 At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both rider and horse lay stunned. (Ex 15:1; Ex 15:21) 7 But you, you are to be feared! Who can stand before you when once your anger is roused? (Ps 47:2; Ps 130:3) 8 From the heavens you uttered judgment; the earth feared and was still, (2Ch 20:29; 2Ch 20:30; Hab 2:20) 9 when God arose to establish judgment, to save all the humble of the earth. Selah (Ps 9:7; Ps 9:8) 10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise you; the remnant^[1] of wrath you will put on like a belt.
