1A Psalm of Asaph. Truly God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart. (Ps 24:4; Ps 50:1; Joh 1:47)2But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled, my steps had nearly slipped.3For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. (Job 21:7; Ps 37:1; Ps 37:7; Ps 92:7; Pr 23:17; Jer 12:1)4For they have no pangs until death; their bodies are fat and sleek.5They are not in trouble as others are; they are not stricken like the rest of mankind. (Isa 53:4)6Therefore pride is their necklace; violence covers them as a garment. (Jud 8:26; Ps 109:18)7Their eyes swell out through fatness; their hearts overflow with follies. (Job 15:27)8They scoff and speak with malice; loftily they threaten oppression. (2Pe 2:18; Jud 1:16)9They set their mouths against the heavens, and their tongue struts through the earth.10Therefore his people turn back to them, and find no fault in them.[1] (Job 15:16)11And they say, “How can God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?” (Job 22:13)12Behold, these are the wicked; always at ease, they increase in riches. (Ps 73:5; Ps 101:8; Re 3:19)15If I had said, “I will speak thus,” I would have betrayed the generation of your children. (Ps 14:5)16But when I thought how to understand this, it seemed to me a wearisome task, (Ec 8:17)17until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I discerned their end. (Ps 20:2; Ps 37:38)18Truly you set them in slippery places; you make them fall to ruin. (Ps 35:6)19How they are destroyed in a moment, swept away utterly by terrors! (Nu 16:21; Job 18:11)20Like a dream when one awakes, O Lord, when you rouse yourself, you despise them as phantoms. (Job 20:8; Ps 78:65)21When my soul was embittered, when I was pricked in heart,22I was brutish and ignorant; I was like a beast toward you. 1Ein Lied Asafs. Ich weiß es: Gott ist gut zu Israel, zu allen, die ihm mit ganzem Herzen gehorchen. (Job 21:7; Ps 10:1; Pr 24:19; Ec 8:12; Mal 3:14)2Doch beinahe wäre ich irregeworden, ich wäre um ein Haar zu Fall gekommen:3Ich war eifersüchtig auf die Menschen, die nicht nach dem Willen Gottes fragen; denn ich sah, dass es ihnen so gut geht.4Ihr Leben lang kennen sie keine Krankheit, gesund sind sie und wohlgenährt.5Sie verbringen ihre Tage ohne Sorgen und müssen sich nicht quälen wie andere Leute.6Ihren Hochmut tragen sie zur Schau wie einen Schmuck, ihre Gewalttätigkeit wie ein kostbares Kleid.7Ihr Luxusleben verführt sie zur Sünde,[1] ihr Herz quillt über von bösen Plänen.8Ihre Reden sind voll von Spott und Verleumdung, mit großen Worten schüchtern sie die Leute ein. (Ps 12:5; Ps 109:2)9Sie reißen das Maul auf und lästern den Himmel, ihre böse Zunge verschont nichts auf der Erde. (Isa 57:4)10Darum läuft das Volk Gottes ihnen nach und lauscht begierig auf ihr Geschwätz.[2]11»Gott merkt ja doch nichts!«, sagen sie. »Was weiß der da oben von dem, was hier vorgeht?« (Ps 14:1)12So sind sie alle, die Gott verachten; sie häufen Macht und Reichtum und haben immer Glück.13Es war ganz umsonst, HERR, dass ich mir ein reines Gewissen bewahrte und wieder und wieder meine Unschuld bewies. (Ps 26:6; Mal 3:14)14Ich werde ja trotzdem täglich gepeinigt, ständig bin ich vom Unglück verfolgt.15Aber wenn ich so reden wollte wie sie, würde ich alle verraten, die zu dir gehören.[3]16Ich mühte mich ab, das alles zu verstehen, aber es schien mir ganz unmöglich.17Doch dann kam ich in dein Heiligtum. Da erkannte ich, wie es mit ihnen ausgeht: (Ps 49:14)18Du stellst sie auf schlüpfrigen Boden; du verblendest sie, damit sie stürzen.19Ganz plötzlich ist es aus mit ihnen, sie alle nehmen ein Ende mit Schrecken.20Herr, wenn du aufstehst, verschwinden sie wie die Bilder eines Traumes beim Erwachen.21Als ich verbittert war und innerlich zerrissen,22da hatte ich den Verstand verloren, wie ein Stück Vieh stand ich vor dir.23Und dennoch gehöre ich zu dir! Du hast meine Hand ergriffen und hältst mich;24du leitest mich nach deinem Plan und holst mich am Ende in deine Herrlichkeit. (Ps 16:10; Ps 49:16)25Wer im Himmel könnte mir helfen, wenn nicht du? Was soll ich mir noch wünschen auf der Erde? Ich habe doch dich!26Auch wenn ich Leib und Leben verliere, du, Gott, hältst mich; du bleibst mir für immer! (Ps 63:4)27Wer sich von dir entfernt, geht zugrunde; wer dir untreu wird, den vernichtest du.28Ich aber setze mein Vertrauen auf dich, meinen Herrn; dir nahe zu sein ist mein ganzes Glück. Ich will weitersagen, was du getan hast.
