1To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above[1] proclaims his handiwork. (Ps 50:6; Ro 1:19)2Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.3There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard.4Their voice[2] goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, (Ec 1:5; Isa 28:10; Ro 10:18)5which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. (Ps 119:142; Ps 119:151; Ps 119:160)10More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Gottes Größe in der Schöpfung und in seinem Gesetz
1Ein Lied Davids.2Der Himmel verkündet es: Gott ist groß! Das Heer der Sterne[1] bezeugt seine Schöpfermacht. (Ps 8:4; Ro 1:20)3Ein Tag sagt es dem andern, jede Nacht ruft es der nächsten zu.4Kein Wort wird gesprochen, kein Laut ist zu hören5und doch geht ihr Ruf weit über die Erde bis hin zu ihren äußersten Grenzen. Gott hat der Sonne ein Zelt am Himmel gebaut.[2] (Ro 10:18)6Sie kommt daraus hervor wie der Bräutigam aus dem Brautgemach, wie ein Sieger betritt sie ihre Bahn.7Sie geht auf am einen Ende des Himmels und läuft hinüber bis zum anderen Ende. Nichts bleibt ihrem feurigen Auge verborgen.8Das Gesetz des HERRN ist vollkommen, es gibt Kraft und Leben. Die Mahnungen des HERRN sind gut, sie verhelfen Unwissenden zur Einsicht.9Die Weisungen des HERRN sind zuverlässig, sie erfreuen das Herz. Die Anordnungen des HERRN sind deutlich, sie geben einen klaren Blick.10Die Ehrfurcht vor dem HERRN ist untadelig und hat für immer Bestand. Die Gebote des HERRN sind richtig und ohne Ausnahme gerecht.11Sie sind kostbarer als das feinste Gold, süßer als der beste Honig.12Auch ich höre auf deine Gebote, HERR, denn wer sie befolgt, wird reich belohnt.13Doch wer weiß, wie oft er Schuld auf sich lädt? Strafe mich nicht, wenn ich es unwissend tat! (Nu 15:22)14Bewahre mich vor vermessenen Menschen, damit sie mich nicht auf ihre Seite ziehen. Dann werde ich rein bleiben und frei von schwerer Schuld.15Nimm meine Worte freundlich auf! Lass mein Gebet zu dir dringen, HERR, mein Halt und mein Retter!
