The Wickedness of Judah

2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for the Lord has spoken: “Children^[1] have I reared and brought up, but they have rebelled against me. (De 4:26; De 32:1; De 32:6; De 32:10; De 32:15; Mic 1:2; Mic 6:2)

3 The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master’s crib, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand.” (Jer 8:7) 4 Ah, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! 5 Why will you still be struck down? Why will you continue to rebel? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. 14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates; they have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them. The Unfaithful City

21 How the faithful city has become a whore,^[4] she who was full of justice! Righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers. (Ex 34:15; Jer 2:20; Jer 31:23) 22 Your silver has become dross, your best wine mixed with water. (Jer 6:30; Eze 22:18) 23 Your princes are rebels and companions of thieves. Everyone loves a bribe and runs after gifts. They do not bring justice to the fatherless, and the widow’s cause does not come to them. (Ex 23:8; Isa 1:17; Jer 5:28; Mic 7:3; Zec 7:10)

Untreue des Volkes

2 Hört, ihr Himmel, horch auf, Erde! / Denn der HERR hat gesprochen: Ich habe Söhne großgezogen und emporgebracht, / doch sie sind mir abtrünnig geworden. (Isa 23:4) 3 Der Ochse kennt seinen Besitzer / und der Esel die Krippe seines Herrn; Israel aber hat keine Erkenntnis, / mein Volk hat keine Einsicht. (Lu 2:16) 4 Wehe der sündigen Nation, dem schuldbeladenen Volk, / der Brut von Übeltätern, den Söhnen, die Verderben bringen! Die übrig gelassene Tochter Zion

5 Wohin sollt ihr noch geschlagen werden? / Ihr bleibt ja doch widerspenstig. Der ganze Kopf ist wund, / das ganze Herz ist krank. 6 Von der Fußsohle bis zum Kopf ist nichts heil an ihm, / nur Beulen, Striemen und frische Wunden, sie sind nicht ausgedrückt, nicht verbunden, / nicht mit Öl gelindert. 7 Euer Land ist verwüstet, / eure Städte sind feuerverbrannt. Fremde verzehren vor euren Augen den Ertrag eures Ackers; / eine Verwüstung wie bei der Zerstörung durch Fremde. 8 Die Tochter Zion ist übrig gelassen / wie eine Hütte im Weinberg, wie ein Schutzdach für die Nacht im Gurkenfeld, / wie eine belagerte Stadt. (Isa 24:20) 9 Hätte der HERR der Heerscharen für uns nicht einige Entkommene übrig gelassen, / wir wären wie Sodom geworden, / wir glichen Gomorra. (Ge 19:1)

Falscher und wahrer Gottesdienst

10 Hört das Wort des HERRN, ihr Wortführer von Sodom! / Horcht auf die Weisung unseres Gottes, Volk von Gomorra! 11 Was soll ich mit euren vielen Schlachtopfern?, / spricht der HERR. Die Brandopfer von Widdern / und das Fett von Mastkälbern habe ich satt / und am Blut der Stiere, Lämmer und Böcke habe ich kein Gefallen. (Am 5:21) 12 Wenn ihr kommt, um vor meinem Angesicht zu erscheinen - / wer hat von euch verlangt, dass ihr meine Vorhöfe zertrampelt? 13 Bringt mir nicht länger nutzlose Gaben, / Räucheropfer, die mir ein Gräuel sind! Neumond und Sabbat, das Ausrufen von Festversammlungen, / ich ertrage nicht Frevel und Feier. 14 Eure Neumonde und Feste / sind mir in der Seele verhasst, sie sind mir zur Last geworden, / ich bin es müde, sie zu ertragen. 15 Wenn ihr eure Hände ausbreitet, / verhülle ich meine Augen vor euch. Wenn ihr auch noch so viel betet, / ich höre es nicht. / Eure Hände sind voller Blut. 16 Wascht euch, reinigt euch! / Schafft mir eure bösen Taten aus den Augen! / Hört auf, Böses zu tun! 17 Lernt, Gutes zu tun! / Sucht das Recht! Streit Gottes mit seinem Volk

18 Kommt doch, wir wollen miteinander rechten, / spricht der HERR. Sind eure Sünden wie Scharlach, / weiß wie Schnee werden sie. Sind sie rot wie Purpur, / wie Wolle werden sie. 19 Wenn ihr willig seid und hört, / werdet ihr das Beste des Landes essen. 20 Wenn ihr euch aber weigert und auflehnt, / werdet ihr vom Schwert gefressen. / Ja, der Mund des HERRN hat gesprochen.

Läuterungsgericht über Jerusalem

21 Ach, wie ist zur Hure geworden die treue Stadt. / Die voll des Rechts war, in der Gerechtigkeit die Nacht verbrachte - / und jetzt Mörder! 22 Dein Silber wurde zu Schlacke, / dein Wein ist mit Wasser gepanscht. (Eze 22:18) 23 Deine Fürsten sind Aufrührer / und eine Bande von Dieben, ein jeder liebt Bestechung / und jagt Geschenken nach. Dem Waisen verschaffen sie kein Recht / und der Rechtsstreit der Witwe gelangt nicht vor sie. 24 Darum - Spruch Gottes, des HERRN der Heerscharen, / des Starken Israels: Wehe, ich werde mir Genugtuung verschaffen an meinen Gegnern, / mich rächen an meinen Feinden. 25 Ich will meine Hand gegen dich wenden, / ich schmelze wie mit Lauge deine Schlacken aus / und will all dein Blei entfernen. Peccati di Giuda e castigo

Era piena di rettitudine, la giustizia vi abitava, e ora è invece un covo di assassini! 22 Il tuo argento si è cambiato in scorie, il tuo vino è stato tagliato con acqua. 23 I tuoi prìncipi sono ribelli e compagni di ladri. Tutti amano i regali e corrono dietro alle ricompense; non fanno giustizia all’orfano e la causa della vedova non giunge fino a loro. 24 Perciò il Signore, Dio degli eserciti, il Potente d’Israele, dice: «Guai! Io avrò soddisfazione dai miei avversari e mi vendicherò dei miei nemici! 25 Ti rimetterò la mano addosso, ti purificherò delle tue scorie, come fa la potassa, e toglierò da te ogni particella di piombo. 26 Ristabilirò i tuoi giudici com’erano anticamente, e i tuoi consiglieri com’erano al principio. Dopo questo, sarai chiamata la città della giustizia, la città fedele». 27 Sion sarà salvata mediante il giudizio, e quelli che in lei si convertiranno saranno salvati mediante la giustizia; 28 ma i ribelli e i peccatori andranno in rovina assieme, e quelli che abbandonano il Signore saranno distrutti. 29 Allora avrete vergogna dei terebinti che avete amati e arrossirete dei giardini che vi siete scelti. 30 Infatti sarete come un terebinto dalle foglie appassite, come un giardino senz’acqua. 31 L’uomo forte sarà come stoppa, e l’opera sua come scintilla; entrambe bruceranno assieme, e non vi sarà chi spenga.
