Joseph Provides for His Brothers and Family

1 Then Joseph could not control himself before all those who stood by him. He cried, “Make everyone go out from me.” So no one stayed with him when Joseph made himself known to his brothers. (Ge 43:31; Es 5:10) 2 And he wept aloud, so that the Egyptians heard it, and the household of Pharaoh heard it. 3 And Joseph said to his brothers, “I am Joseph! Is my father still alive?” But his brothers could not answer him, for they were dismayed at his presence. (Ac 7:13) 4 So Joseph said to his brothers, “Come near to me, please.” And they came near. And he said, “I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt. (Ge 37:28) 5 And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life. (Ge 50:20; Ps 105:16) 6 For the famine has been in the land these two years, and there are yet five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvest. (Ge 41:30; Ex 34:21; De 21:4; 1Sa 8:12; Isa 30:24)

7 And God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors. 8 So it was not you who sent me here, but God. He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house and ruler over all the land of Egypt. (Ge 41:43; Ge 45:26) 9 Hurry and go up to my father and say to him, ‘Thus says your son Joseph, God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me; do not tarry. 10 You shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near me, you and your children and your children’s children, and your flocks, your herds, and all that you have. 11 There I will provide for you, for there are yet five years of famine to come, so that you and your household, and all that you have, do not come to poverty.’ (Ge 47:12; Ge 50:21) 12 And now your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin see, that it is my mouth that speaks to you. (Ge 42:23) 13 You must tell my father of all my honor in Egypt, and of all that you have seen. Hurry and bring my father down here.” (Ac 7:14) 14 Then he fell upon his brother Benjamin’s neck and wept, and Benjamin wept upon his neck. 15 And he kissed all his brothers and wept upon them. After that his brothers talked with him. 16 When the report was heard in Pharaoh’s house, “Joseph’s brothers have come,” it pleased Pharaoh and his servants. 17 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Say to your brothers, ‘Do this: load your beasts and go back to the land of Canaan, 18 and take your father and your households, and come to me, and I will give you the best of the land of Egypt, and you shall eat the fat of the land.’ (Ge 47:6) 19 And you, Joseph, are commanded to say, ‘Do this: take wagons from the land of Egypt for your little ones and for your wives, and bring your father, and come. (Ge 46:5) 20 Have no concern for^[1] your goods, for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours.’” 21 The sons of Israel did so: and Joseph gave them wagons, according to the command of Pharaoh, and gave them provisions for the journey. (Ge 45:19) 22 To each and all of them he gave a change of clothes, but to Benjamin he gave three hundred shekels^[2] of silver and five changes of clothes. (Ge 43:34; 2Ki 5:5; 2Ki 5:22) 23 To his father he sent as follows: ten donkeys loaded with the good things of Egypt, and ten female donkeys loaded with grain, bread, and provision for his father on the journey. 24 Then he sent his brothers away, and as they departed, he said to them, “Do not quarrel on the way.” (Ge 42:22) 25 So they went up out of Egypt and came to the land of Canaan to their father Jacob. 26 And they told him, “Joseph is still alive, and he is ruler over all the land of Egypt.” And his heart became numb, for he did not believe them. 27 But when they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said to them, and when he saw the wagons that Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of their father Jacob revived. (Ge 45:19; Ge 45:21; Ge 46:5) 28 And Israel said, “It is enough; Joseph my son is still alive. I will go and see him before I die.”

José se descubre a sus hermanos

1 José ya no podía contenerse ante todos los que estaban a su lado, y exclamó: ¡Sacad a todo varón de mi presencia! Y no quedó nadie con él cuando José se dio a conocer a sus hermanos. 2 Entonces alzó su voz en llanto, y lo oyeron los egipcios y lo oyó la casa de Faraón. 3 Y dijo José a sus hermanos: ¡Yo soy José! ¿Vive aún mi padre? Y sus hermanos no pudieron responderle, porque estaban turbados por su presencia. 4 Entonces dijo José a sus hermanos: ¡Acercaos a mí, os ruego! Y ellos se acercaron, y él dijo: Yo soy vuestro hermano José, a quien vendisteis para Egipto. 5 Ahora pues, no os entristezcáis ni os enojéis con vosotros mismos por haberme vendido acá, pues para preservar la vida me envió ’Elohim delante de vosotros. 6 Porque ya ha habido dos años de hambruna en medio de esta tierra, y aún quedan cinco años en que no habrá siembra ni siega. 7 Por eso ’Elohim me envió delante de vosotros para preservaros un remanente en esta tierra y para daros vida por medio de una gran liberación. 8 Así que, no me enviasteis vosotros acá, sino ’Elohim. Y Él me ha puesto como un padre para Faraón y señor de toda su casa y gobernador en toda la tierra de Egipto. 9 Daos prisa, subid hasta mi padre, y decidle: Así dice tu hijo José: ’Elohim me ha puesto por señor de todo Egipto, desciende a mí, no te detengas, 10 y habitarás en la tierra de Gosén, y estarás cerca de mí, tú y tus hijos, y los hijos de tus hijos, tus rebaños y tus vacadas y todo lo que tienes. 11 Y allí te sustentaré, pues aún quedan cinco años de hambruna, para que no caigas en la miseria tú y tu casa, y todo lo que tienes. 12 Y por cierto, vuestros ojos pueden ver, y los ojos de mi hermano Benjamín, que es mi boca la que os habla. 13 Declararéis a mi padre todo mi esplendor en Egipto y todo lo que habéis visto. Así que, ¡daos prisa, y haced que mi padre descienda acá! 14 Entonces se echó al cuello de su hermano Benjamín, y lloró, y Benjamín lloró en su cuello. 15 Y besó a todos sus hermanos, y lloró sobre ellos. Después sus hermanos hablaron con él. 16 Y la voz fue oída en la casa de Faraón, diciendo: Los hermanos de José han venido. Y agradó a ojos de Faraón y a ojos de sus siervos. 17 Y dijo Faraón a José: Di a tus hermanos: Haced esto: Cargad vuestras bestias, e id, entrad a la tierra de Canaán. 18 Luego tomad a vuestro padre y a vuestras familias, y venid a mí, y yo os daré lo bueno de la tierra de Egipto, y comeréis de la abundancia del país. 19 Mándales también: Tomad carros de la tierra de Egipto para vuestros pequeños y vuestras mujeres, y tomad a vuestro padre, y venid. 20 Y no os preocupéis por vuestros enseres, porque lo mejor de toda la tierra de Egipto es vuestro. 21 Así lo hicieron los hijos de Israel, y José les dio carros conforme a la orden de Faraón, y les dio provisión para el camino. 22 A todos ellos les dio mudas de vestidos, y a Benjamín le dio trescientas piezas de plata y cinco mudas de vestidos. 23 Y a su padre envió esto: diez asnos cargados de lo mejor de Egipto, y diez asnas cargadas de grano, pan y víveres para el viaje de su padre. 24 Y despidió a sus hermanos, y se fueron. Y les dijo: No discutáis por el camino. 25 Subieron de Egipto, y llegaron a la tierra de Canaán, a su padre Jacob, 26 y le anunciaron, diciendo: ¡José aún vive, y gobierna en toda la tierra de Egipto! Pero su corazón desmayó, pues no les creía. 27 Mas ellos le dijeron todas las palabras que José les había hablado, y al ver los carros que José había enviado para llevarlo, el espíritu de su padre Jacob revivió. 28 Entonces dijo Israel: ¡Basta! ¡Mi hijo José aún vive! Iré y lo veré antes de morir.
