Joseph Brings His Family to Egypt

1 So Israel took his journey with all that he had and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. (Ge 21:31; Ge 21:33; Ge 26:24; Ge 26:33; Ge 28:10; Ge 28:13; Ge 31:42)

2 And God spoke to Israel in visions of the night and said, “Jacob, Jacob.” And he said, “Here I am.” (Ge 15:1; Job 33:14) 3 Then he said, “I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make you into a great nation. (Ge 12:2; Ge 28:13; Ge 35:11; Ex 1:7; Ex 1:9; De 26:5)

5 Then Jacob set out from Beersheba. The sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons that Pharaoh had sent to carry him. (Ge 45:19; Ge 45:21; Ge 45:27) 6 They also took their livestock and their goods, which they had gained in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob and all his offspring with him, (Jos 24:4; Ps 105:23; Isa 52:4; Ac 7:14)

7 his sons, and his sons’ sons with him, his daughters, and his sons’ daughters. All his offspring he brought with him into Egypt. 8 Now these are the names of the descendants of Israel, who came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons. Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn, (Ex 1:1; Ex 6:14; Nu 26:5; 1Ch 5:1)

9 and the sons of Reuben: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi. 10 The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul, the son of a Canaanite woman. 11 The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. (1Ch 6:1) 12 The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah (but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan); and the sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul. 13 The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puvah, Yob, and Shimron. (1Ch 7:1) 14 The sons of Zebulun: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel. 15 These are the sons of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob in Paddan-aram, together with his daughter Dinah; altogether his sons and his daughters numbered thirty-three. (Ge 29:32; Ge 30:1) 16 The sons of Gad: Ziphion, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli. 17 The sons of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, Beriah, with Serah their sister. And the sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel. (1Ch 7:30) 18 These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter; and these she bore to Jacob—sixteen persons. (Ge 29:24; Ge 30:10) 19 The sons of Rachel, Jacob’s wife: Joseph and Benjamin. 20 And to Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera the priest of On, bore to him. (Ge 41:45; Ge 41:50) 21 And the sons of Benjamin: Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard. (Nu 26:38; 1Ch 7:6; 1Ch 8:1) 22 These are the sons of Rachel, who were born to Jacob—fourteen persons in all. 23 The son^[1] of Dan: Hushim. 24 The sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem. (1Ch 7:13) 25 These are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to Rachel his daughter, and these she bore to Jacob—seven persons in all. (Ge 29:29; Ge 30:5) 26 All the persons belonging to Jacob who came into Egypt, who were his own descendants, not including Jacob’s sons’ wives, were sixty-six persons in all. 27 And the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, were two. All the persons of the house of Jacob who came into Egypt were seventy. (Ex 1:5; De 10:22; Ac 7:14)

28 He had sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph to show the way before him in Goshen, and they came into the land of Goshen. (Ge 45:10) 29 Then Joseph prepared his chariot and went up to meet Israel his father in Goshen. He presented himself to him and fell on his neck and wept on his neck a good while. (Ge 45:14) 30 Israel said to Joseph, “Now let me die, since I have seen your face and know that you are still alive.” (Lu 2:29) 31 Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, “I will go up and tell Pharaoh and will say to him, ‘My brothers and my father’s household, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me. (Ge 47:1) 32 And the men are shepherds, for they have been keepers of livestock, and they have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.’ (Ge 47:3) 33 When Pharaoh calls you and says, ‘What is your occupation?’ (Ge 46:32) 34 you shall say, ‘Your servants have been keepers of livestock from our youth even until now, both we and our fathers,’ in order that you may dwell in the land of Goshen, for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.” (Ge 37:12; Ge 43:32; Ge 46:28; Ge 46:32; Ex 8:26)

Israel en Egipto

1 E Israel partió con todo lo que tenía, y fue a Beer-seba, y ofreció sacrificios al Dios de su padre Isaac. 2 Y habló ’Elohim a Israel en visiones de noche, y le dijo: ¡Jacob! ¡Jacob! Y él dijo: Heme aquí. 3 Entonces le dijo: Yo soy ’Elohim, el Dios de tu padre. No temas bajar a Egipto, porque allí te convertiré en una gran nación. 4 Yo descenderé contigo a Egipto, y ciertamente Yo también te haré subir, y la mano de José cerrará tus ojos. 5 Y se levantó Jacob de Beer-seba, y los hijos de Israel hicieron subir a su padre Jacob, a sus pequeños y a sus mujeres en los carros que Faraón había enviado para que lo llevaran. 6 Y tomaron sus ganados, y las pertenencias que habían adquirido en la tierra de Canaán, y se fueron a Egipto, Jacob, y toda su descendencia con él, 7 sus hijos y nietos, sus hijas y nietas. Y llevó consigo toda su descendencia a Egipto. 8 Estos son los nombres de los hijos de Israel que entraron en Egipto: Jacob y sus hijos: Rubén, el primogénito de Jacob. 9 Y los hijos de Rubén: Hanoc, Falú, Hezrón y Carmi. 10 Y los hijos de Simeón: Jemuel, Jamín, Ohad, Jaquín, Zohar y Saúl, hijo de la cananea. 11 Y los hijos de Leví: Gersón, Coat y Merari. 12 Y los hijos de Judá: Er, Onán y Sela, Fares y Zara, aunque Er y Onán habían muerto en tierra de Canaán. Y los hijos de Fares fueron Hezrón y Hamul. 13 Los hijos de Isacar: Tola, Fúa, Iob y Simrón. 14 Y los hijos de Zabulón: Sered, Elón y Jahleel. 15 Estos fueron los hijos de Lea, los que ella le dio a luz a Jacob en Padan-aram, además de su hija Dina. El total de personas de sus hijos e hijas fue treinta y tres. 16 Y los hijos de Gad: Zifión, Hagui, Suni, Ezbón, Heri, Arodi y Areli. 17 Y los hijos de Aser: Jimna, Isúa, Isúi y Beria y Sera, hermana de ellos. Los hijos de Beria: Heber y Malquiel. 18 Estos fueron los hijos de Zilpa, la que Labán dio a su hija Lea, y le dio a luz éstos a Jacob: dieciséis personas. 19 Hijos de Raquel, mujer de Jacob: José y Benjamín. 20 Y a José, en la tierra de Egipto, le nacieron Manasés y Efraín, los cuales le dio a luz Asenat, hija de Potifera, sacerdote de On. 21 Y los hijos de Benjamín fueron Bela, Bequer, Asbel, Gera, Naamán, Ehi, Ros, Mupim, Hupim y Ard. 22 Estos fueron los hijos de Raquel que nacieron a Jacob: catorce personas en total. 23 Y los hijos de Dan: Husim. 24 Y los hijos de Neftalí: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer y Silem. 25 Estos fueron los hijos de Bilha, la que dio Labán a Raquel su hija, y ella dio a luz éstos a Jacob: siete personas en total. 26 Todas las personas que fueron con Jacob a Egipto, procedentes de sus lomos, sin contar las mujeres de los hijos de Jacob, todas las personas fueron sesenta y seis. 27 Y los hijos de José, que le nacieron en Egipto, dos personas. Todas las personas de la casa de Jacob que entraron en Egipto fueron setenta. 28 Envió por delante a Judá a casa de José, para que preparara el camino a Gosén. Cuando entraron en la tierra de Gosén, 29 José mando a uncir su carro y subió a Gosén a recibir a su padre Israel. Se presentó a él, y echándose a su cuello lo abrazó y lloró largamente. 30 Entonces Israel dijo a José: Ahora puedo morir, después de haberte visto en persona y vivo. 31 José dijo a sus hermanos y a la casa de su padre: Subiré para anunciar a Faraón y decirle: Mis hermanos y la casa de mi padre, que estaban en la tierra de Canaán, han venido a mí. 32 Son pastores de ovejas, que cuidan del ganado, y han traído sus rebaños, sus vacadas y todas sus posesiones. 33 Cuando Faraón os llame y diga: ¿Cuál es vuestro oficio? 34 vosotros responderéis: Tus siervos son pastores desde su juventud hasta ahora, lo mismo nosotros que nuestros padres. Así podréis vivir en la tierra de Gosén, porque todo pastor de ovejas es abominación para los egipcios.
