1 After this Jesus went about in Galilee. He would not go about in Judea, because the Jews[1] were seeking to kill him. (Joh 5:18; Joh 8:37; Joh 8:40; Joh 11:53) 2 Now the Jews’ Feast of Booths was at hand. (Le 23:34; Joh 5:1; Joh 6:4) 3 So his brothers[2] said to him, “Leave here and go to Judea, that your disciples also may see the works you are doing. (Mt 12:46; Joh 7:5; Joh 7:10) 4 For no one works in secret if he seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, show yourself to the world.” (Joh 14:22; Joh 18:20) 5 For not even his brothers believed in him. (Mt 13:57; Mr 3:21; Joh 7:3; Joh 7:10) 6 Jesus said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always here. (Joh 2:4; Joh 7:8; Joh 7:30) 7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify about it that its works are evil. (Joh 3:19; Joh 15:18; Joh 15:24; Col 1:21; 1Jo 3:12) 8 You go up to the feast. I am not[3] going up to this feast, for my time has not yet fully come.” (Joh 2:4) 9 After saying this, he remained in Galilee. 10 But after his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly but in private. (Joh 7:3; Joh 7:5) 11 The Jews were looking for him at the feast, and saying, “Where is he?” (Joh 7:1; Joh 11:56) 12 And there was much muttering about him among the people. While some said, “He is a good man,” others said, “No, he is leading the people astray.” (Joh 7:32; Joh 7:40; Joh 7:47) 13 Yet for fear of the Jews no one spoke openly of him. (Joh 9:22; Joh 12:42; Joh 19:38; Joh 20:19) 14 About the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and began teaching. (Joh 7:28) 15 The Jews therefore marveled, saying, “How is it that this man has learning,[4] when he has never studied?” (Lu 2:47; Lu 4:22; Joh 7:46; Ac 4:13) 16 So Jesus answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me. (Joh 3:17; Joh 3:34; Joh 8:28; Joh 12:49; Joh 14:10; Joh 14:24) 17 If anyone’s will is to do God’s[5] will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority. (Ps 25:9; Da 12:10; Joh 5:30; Joh 8:31; Joh 8:43; Joh 14:21; Joh 14:23; Php 3:15) 18 The one who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but the one who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood. (Joh 5:41; Joh 8:50) 19 Has not Moses given you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law. Why do you seek to kill me?” (Joh 1:17; Joh 7:1; Joh 7:23) 20 The crowd answered, “You have a demon! Who is seeking to kill you?” (Mt 11:18; Mr 3:22; Lu 7:33; Joh 8:48; Joh 8:52; Joh 10:20) 21 Jesus answered them, “I did one work, and you all marvel at it. (Joh 5:2; Joh 7:23) 22 Moses gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath. (Ge 17:10; Le 12:3) 23 If on the Sabbath a man receives circumcision, so that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me because on the Sabbath I made a man’s whole body well? (Mt 12:2; Joh 5:16) 24 Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.” (De 1:16; Isa 11:3; Joh 8:15; 2Co 10:7) 25 Some of the people of Jerusalem therefore said, “Is not this the man whom they seek to kill? (Joh 7:1) 26 And here he is, speaking openly, and they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that this is the Christ? (Joh 7:48; Joh 18:20) 27 But we know where this man comes from, and when the Christ appears, no one will know where he comes from.” (Joh 6:42; Joh 7:42; Joh 8:14; Joh 8:19; Joh 9:29; Joh 19:9) 28 So Jesus proclaimed, as he taught in the temple, “You know me, and you know where I come from. But I have not come of my own accord. He who sent me is true, and him you do not know. (Joh 4:22; Joh 5:43; Joh 7:14; Joh 7:27; Joh 8:19; Joh 8:26; Joh 8:42; Joh 8:55; Joh 15:21) 29 I know him, for I come from him, and he sent me.” (Mt 11:27; Joh 1:14; Joh 3:17; Joh 6:46; Joh 8:55; Joh 9:16; Joh 9:33) 30 So they were seeking to arrest him, but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come. (Mt 21:46; Joh 7:6; Joh 7:44; Joh 8:20; Joh 10:39) 31 Yet many of the people believed in him. They said, “When the Christ appears, will he do more signs than this man has done?” (Mt 12:23; Mt 21:11; Joh 2:23; Joh 8:30; Joh 10:42; Joh 11:45; Joh 12:11; Joh 12:42) 32 The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about him, and the chief priests and Pharisees sent officers to arrest him. (Joh 7:12; Joh 7:45) 33 Jesus then said, “I will be with you a little longer, and then I am going to him who sent me. (Joh 12:35; Joh 13:33; Joh 14:19; Joh 16:5; Joh 16:16) 34 You will seek me and you will not find me. Where I am you cannot come.” (Joh 8:21; Joh 13:33) 35 The Jews said to one another, “Where does this man intend to go that we will not find him? Does he intend to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks? (Isa 11:12; Zep 3:10; Joh 8:22; Joh 12:20; Jas 1:1; 1Pe 1:1) 36 What does he mean by saying, ‘You will seek me and you will not find me,’ and, ‘Where I am you cannot come’?” (Joh 7:34) 37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. (Le 23:36; Nu 29:35; Ne 8:18; Isa 55:1; Joh 4:14; Joh 6:35) 38 Whoever believes in me, as[6] the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” (Pr 18:4; Isa 12:3; Eze 47:1; Joh 4:10; Joh 4:14) 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. (Isa 44:3; Joe 2:28; Lu 11:13; Lu 24:49; Joh 1:33; Joh 3:34; Joh 14:16; Joh 16:7; Joh 20:22; Ac 2:4; Ac 2:16; Ac 2:33; 1Co 12:13; Ga 3:14) 40 When they heard these words, some of the people said, “This really is the Prophet.” (Mt 21:11; Joh 1:21; Joh 6:14; Joh 7:31) 41 Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “Is the Christ to come from Galilee? (Joh 1:46; Joh 7:26; Joh 7:52) 42 Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the offspring of David, and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David was?” (1Sa 16:1; Ps 89:3; Mic 5:2; Mt 1:1; Mt 2:1; Mt 2:5; Lu 2:4) 43 So there was a division among the people over him. (Joh 7:12; Joh 9:16; Joh 10:19) 44 Some of them wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him. (Joh 7:30) 45 The officers then came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, “Why did you not bring him?” (Joh 7:32) 46 The officers answered, “No one ever spoke like this man!” (Mt 7:29) 47 The Pharisees answered them, “Have you also been deceived? (Joh 7:12) 48 Have any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in him? (Joh 12:42; 1Co 1:20; 1Co 1:26; 1Co 2:8) 49 But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.” 50 Nicodemus, who had gone to him before, and who was one of them, said to them, (Joh 3:1; Joh 19:39) 51 “Does our law judge a man without first giving him a hearing and learning what he does?” (De 1:16; De 17:6; De 19:15; Pr 18:13; Ac 23:3) 52 They replied, “Are you from Galilee too? Bible Kralická

1 Potom pak chodil Ježíš po Galilei; nebo nechtěl býti v Judstvu, protože ho hledali Židé zabíti. 2 A byl blízko svátek Židovský, památka stánků. 3 Tedy řekli jemu bratří jeho: Vyjdi odsud, a jdi do Judstva, ať i učedlníci tvoji vidí skutky tvé, kteréž činíš. 4 Nižádný zajisté v skrytě nic nedělá, kdož chce vidín býti. Protož ty, činíš-li takové věci, zjeviž se světu. 5 Nebo ani bratří jeho nevěřili v něho. 6 I dí jim Ježíš: Čas můj ještě nepřišel, ale čas váš vždycky jest hotov. 7 Nemůžeť vás svět nenáviděti, ale mneť nenávidí; nebo já svědectví vydávám o něm, že skutkové jeho zlí jsou. 8 Vy jděte k svátku tomuto. Jáť ještě nepůjdu k svátku tomuto, nebo čas můj ještě se nenaplnil. 9 To pověděv jim, zůstal v Galilei. 10 A když odešli bratří jeho, tedy i on šel k svátku, ne zjevně, ale jako ukrytě. 11 Židé pak hledali ho v svátek, a pravili: Kde jest onen? 12 A mnoho řečí bylo o něm v zástupu. Nebo někteří pravili, že dobrý jest, a jiní pravili: Není, ale svodí zástup. 13 Žádný však o něm nemluvil zjevně pro bázeň Židů. 14 Když pak již polovici svátku se vykonalo, vstoupil Ježíš do chrámu, a učil. 15 I divili se Židé, řkouce: Kterak tento Písmo umí, neučiv se? 16 Odpověděl jim Ježíš a řekl: Mé učení neníť mé, ale toho, jenž mne poslal. 17 Bude-li kdo chtíti vůli jeho činiti, tenť bude uměti rozeznati, jest-li to učení z Boha, čili mluvím já sám od sebe. 18 Kdoť sám od sebe mluví, chvály své vlastní hledá, ale kdož hledá chvály toho, kterýž ho poslal, tenť pravdomluvný jest, a nepravosti v něm není. 19 Však Mojžíš dal vám Zákon? a žádný z vás neplní Zákona? Proč mne hledáte zamordovati? 20 Odpověděl zástup a řekl: Ďábelství máš. Kdo tě hledá zamordovati? 21 Odpověděl Ježíš a řekl jim: Jeden skutek učinil jsem, a všickni se tomu divíte. 22 Mojžíš vydal vám obřízku, (ne že by z Mojžíše byla, ale z otců,) a v sobotu obřezujete člověka. 23 Poněvadž člověk obřízku přijímá i v sobotu, aby nebyl rušen Zákon Mojžíšův, proč pak se na mne hněváte, že jsem celého člověka uzdravil v sobotu? 24 Nesuďte podle osoby, ale spravedlivý soud suďte. 25 Tedy někteří z Jeruzalémských pravili: Zdaliž toto není ten, kteréhož hledají zabíti? 26 A aj, svobodně mluví, a nic mu neříkají. Zdali jsou již právě poznali knížata, že tento jest právě Kristus? 27 Ale o tomto víme, odkud jest, Kristus pak když přijde, žádný nebude věděti, odkud by byl. 28 I volal Ježíš v chrámě, uče a řka: I mne znáte, i odkud jsem, víte. A všakť jsem nepřišel sám od sebe, ale jestiť pravdomluvný, kterýž mne poslal, jehož vy neznáte. 29 Ale já znám jej, nebo od něho jsem, a on mne poslal. 30 I hledali ho jíti, ale žádný nevztáhl ruky na něho, nebo ještě byla nepřišla hodina jeho. 31 Z zástupu pak mnozí uvěřili v něj, a pravili: Kristus když přijde, zdali více divů činiti bude nad ty, kteréž tento činí? 32 Slyšeli pak farizeové zástup, an o něm takové věci rozmlouvá, i poslali farizeové a přední kněží služebníky, aby jej jali. 33 Tedy řekl jim Ježíš: Ještě maličký čas jsem s vámi, potom odejdu k tomu, jenž mne poslal. 34 Hledati mne budete, a nenaleznete, a kdež já budu, vy tam nemůžte přijíti. 35 I řekli Židé k sobě vespolek: Kam tento půjde, že my ho nenalezneme? Zdali v rozptýlení pohanů půjde, a bude učiti pohany? 36 Jaká jest to řeč, kterouž promluvil: Hledati mne budete, a nenaleznete, a kdež já budu, vy nemůžete přijíti? 37 V poslední pak den ten veliký svátku toho, stál Ježíš a volal, řka: Žízní-li kdo, pojď ke mně, a napij se. 38 Kdož věří ve mne, jakož dí Písmo, řeky z života jeho poplynou vody živé. 39 (A to řekl o Duchu svatém, kteréhož měli přijíti věřící v něho; nebo ještě nebyl dán Duch svatý, protože ještě Ježíš nebyl oslaven.) 40 Tedy mnozí z zástupu uslyševše tu řeč, pravili: Tentoť jest právě prorok. 41 Jiní pravili: Tentoť jest Kristus. Ale někteří pravili: Zdaliž od Galilee přijde Kristus? 42 Zdaž nedí písmo, že z semene Davidova a z Betléma městečka, kdež býval David, přijíti má Kristus? 43 A tak různice v zástupu stala se pro něj. 44 Někteří pak z nich chtěli ho jíti, ale žádný nevztáhl ruky na něj. 45 Tedy přišli služebníci k předním kněžím a k farizeům, i řekli jim oni: Proč jste ho nepřivedli? 46 Odpověděli služebníci: Nikdy tak člověk nemluvil, jako tento člověk. 47 I odpověděli jim farizeové: Zdali i vy jste svedeni? 48 Zdaliž kdo z knížat uvěřil v něho anebo z farizeů? 49 Než zástup ten, kterýž nezná Zákona. Zlořečeníť jsou. 50 I dí k nim Nikodém, ten, jenž byl přišel k němu v noci, kterýž byl jeden z nich: 51 Zdali Zákon náš soudí člověka, leč prve uslyší od něho a zví, co by činil? 52 Odpověděli a řekli jemu: Zdali i ty Galilejský jsi? Ptej se, žeť žádný prorok od Galilee nepovstal. 53 I šel jeden každý do domu svého.
