1 Als er aber die Volksmengen sah, stieg er auf den Berg; und als er sich gesetzt hatte, traten seine Jünger zu ihm. (Mt 15,29; Joh 6,3) 2 Und er öffnete seinen Mund, lehrte sie und sprach: 3 Glückselig die Armen im Geist, denn ihrer ist das Reich[1] der Himmel. (Hebr 12,14) 10 Glückselig die um Gerechtigkeit willen Verfolgten, denn ihrer ist das Reich[2] der Himmel. (2Thess 1,5; 1Petr 2,19) 11 Glückselig seid ihr, wenn sie euch schmähen und verfolgen und alles Böse lügnerisch[3] gegen euch reden werden um meinetwillen. (Apg 5,41) 12 Freut euch und jubelt, denn euer Lohn ist groß in den Himmeln; denn ebenso haben sie die Propheten verfolgt, die vor euch waren. (Mt 23,31; Apg 7,52; Hebr 11,26; Jak 5,10) 



13 Ihr seid das Salz der Erde; wenn aber das Salz fade geworden ist, womit soll es gesalzen werden[4]? Es taugt zu nichts mehr, als hinausgeworfen und von den Menschen zertreten zu werden. (Mk 9,50; Lk 14,34) 14 Ihr seid das Licht der Welt; eine Stadt, die oben auf einem Berg liegt, kann nicht verborgen sein. (Joh 8,12; Phil 2,15) 15 Man zündet auch nicht eine Lampe an und setzt sie unter den Scheffel[5], sondern auf das Lampengestell, und sie leuchtet allen, die im Hause sind. (Mk 4,21; Lk 11,33) 16 So soll euer Licht leuchten vor den Menschen, damit sie eure guten Werke sehen und euren Vater, der in den Himmeln ist, verherrlichen. (Joh 15,8; 1Tim 5,25; Tit 2,7; Jak 3,13; 1Petr 2,12) 



17 Meint nicht, dass ich gekommen sei, das Gesetz oder die Propheten aufzulösen; ich bin nicht gekommen aufzulösen, sondern zu erfüllen. (Jes 42,21; Mt 3,15; Röm 10,4) 18 Denn wahrlich, ich sage euch: Bis der Himmel und die Erde vergehen, soll auch nicht ein Jota oder ein Strichlein von dem Gesetz vergehen, bis alles geschehen ist. (Ps 119,89; Jes 40,8; Jes 51,6; Mt 24,35; Mk 13,31; Lk 16,17; Joh 10,35; 1Petr 1,25) 19 Wer nun eins dieser geringsten Gebote auflöst und so die Menschen lehrt, wird der Geringste heißen im Reich[6] der Himmel; wer sie aber tut und lehrt, dieser wird groß heißen im Reich[7] der Himmel. (Ps 119,4) 20 Denn ich sage euch: Wenn nicht eure Gerechtigkeit die der Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer weit übertrifft[8], so werdet ihr keinesfalls in das Reich[9] der Himmel hineinkommen. (Mt 18,3; Mt 23,13; Mk 10,15; Phil 3,9) 



21 Ihr habt gehört, dass zu den Alten gesagt ist: Du sollst nicht töten; wer aber töten wird, der wird dem Gericht verfallen sein. (2Mo 20,13; 2Mo 21,12; 3Mo 24,17; 5Mo 5,17; Mt 19,18; Mk 10,19; Lk 18,20; Röm 13,9; Jak 2,11) 22 Ich aber sage euch, dass jeder, der seinem Bruder zürnt[10], dem Gericht verfallen sein wird; wer aber zu seinem Bruder sagt: Raka[11]!, dem Hohen Rat[12] verfallen sein wird; wer aber sagt: Du Narr[13]!, der Hölle des Feuers verfallen sein wird. (Mt 18,8; Mt 25,41; Mk 9,43) 23 Wenn du nun deine Gabe darbringst zu dem Altar und dich dort erinnerst, dass dein Bruder etwas gegen dich hat, (Mk 11,25) 24 so lass deine Gabe dort vor dem Altar und geh vorher hin, versöhne dich mit deinem Bruder, und dann komm und bring deine Gabe dar! (Mt 18,15) 25 Komm deinem Gegner schnell entgegen[14], während du mit ihm auf dem Weg bist! Damit nicht etwa der Gegner dich dem Richter überliefert und der Richter dem Diener und du ins Gefängnis geworfen wirst. (Mt 6,15; Mt 18,35; Lk 12,58) 26 Wahrlich, ich sage dir: Du wirst nicht von dort herauskommen, bis du auch die letzte Münze[15] bezahlt hast. (Mt 18,34) 



27 Ihr habt gehört, dass gesagt ist: Du sollst nicht ehebrechen. (Mt 5,21) 28 Ich aber sage euch, dass jeder, der eine Frau ansieht, sie zu begehren, schon Ehebruch mit ihr begangen hat in seinem Herzen. (2Sam 11,2; Hi 31,1; Mt 15,19; 2Petr 2,14) 29 Wenn aber dein rechtes Auge dir Anstoß ⟨zur Sünde⟩ gibt[16], so reiß es aus und wirf es von dir! Denn es ist dir besser, dass eins deiner Glieder umkommt und nicht dein ganzer Leib in die Hölle geworfen wird. (Mt 5,22; Mt 10,28) 30 Und wenn deine rechte Hand dir Anstoß ⟨zur Sünde⟩ gibt[17], so hau sie ab und wirf sie von dir! Denn es ist dir besser, dass eins deiner Glieder umkommt und nicht dein ganzer Leib in die Hölle geworfen wird. (Mt 5,22; Mt 10,28) 31 Es ist aber gesagt: Wer seine Frau entlassen will, gebe ihr einen Scheidebrief. (5Mo 24,1; Mt 19,7; Mk 10,4) 32 Ich aber sage euch: Jeder, der seine Frau entlassen wird, außer aufgrund von Hurerei, macht, dass mit ihr Ehebruch begangen wird; und wer eine Entlassene heiratet, begeht Ehebruch. (Mt 19,9; Mk 10,11; Lk 16,18; 1Kor 7,10) 



33 Wiederum habt ihr gehört, dass zu den Alten gesagt ist: Du sollst nicht falsch schwören, du sollst aber dem Herrn deine Eide erfüllen. (2Mo 20,7; 3Mo 19,12; 4Mo 30,3; 5Mo 5,11; 5Mo 23,22; Ps 50,14) 34 Ich aber sage euch: Schwört überhaupt nicht! Weder bei dem Himmel, denn er ist Gottes Thron; (Ps 11,4; Mt 23,22; Apg 7,49; Jak 5,12) 35 noch bei der Erde, denn sie ist seiner Füße Schemel; noch bei Jerusalem, denn sie ist des großen Königs Stadt; (Ps 48,3; Ps 99,5; Jes 66,1; Kla 2,1) 36 noch sollst du bei deinem Haupt schwören, denn du kannst nicht ein Haar weiß oder schwarz machen. 37 Es sei aber euer Wort Ja ⟨ein⟩ Ja, ⟨und⟩ Nein ⟨ein⟩ Nein! Was aber darüber hinausgeht, ist vom[18] Bösen. (Lk 6,27; 2Kor 1,17; Jak 5,12) 



38 Ihr habt gehört, dass gesagt ist: Auge um Auge und Zahn um Zahn. (2Mo 21,24; 3Mo 24,20; 5Mo 19,21) 39 Ich aber sage euch: Widersteht nicht dem Bösen, sondern wenn jemand dich auf deine rechte Backe schlagen wird, dem biete auch die andere dar; (3Mo 19,18; Spr 20,22; Jak 5,6) 40 und dem, der mit dir vor Gericht gehen und dein Untergewand nehmen will, dem lass auch den Mantel! (1Kor 6,7) 41 Und wenn jemand dich zwingen wird, eine Meile zu gehen, mit dem geh zwei! 42 Gib dem, der dich bittet, und weise den nicht ab, der von dir borgen will! (5Mo 15,8; Ps 37,21; Spr 21,26) 43 Ihr habt gehört, dass gesagt ist: Du sollst deinen Nächsten lieben und deinen Feind hassen. (3Mo 19,18; 5Mo 23,6; Mt 19,19; Mt 22,39; Mk 12,31; Lk 10,27; Gal 5,14; Jak 2,8) 44 Ich aber sage euch: Liebt eure Feinde[19], und betet für die, die euch verfolgen, (Hi 31,29; Lk 23,34; Röm 12,14; 1Kor 4,12) 45 damit ihr Söhne eures Vaters seid, der in den Himmeln ist! Denn er lässt seine Sonne aufgehen über Böse und Gute und lässt regnen über Gerechte und Ungerechte. (Ps 145,9; Apg 14,17) 46 Denn wenn ihr liebt, die euch lieben, welchen Lohn habt ihr? Tun nicht auch die Zöllner dasselbe? 47 Und wenn ihr allein eure Brüder grüßt, was tut ihr Besonderes? Tun nicht auch die von den Nationen dasselbe? 48 Ihr nun sollt vollkommen sein, wie euer himmlischer Vater vollkommen ist. (5Mo 18,13; Mt 19,21; Hebr 6,1; Jak 1,4)

1 Jesus saw the crowds. So he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him. 



2 Then he began to teach them. He said, 3 ‘Blessed are those who are spiritually needy. The kingdom of heaven belongs to them. 4 Blessed are those who are sad. They will be comforted. 5 Blessed are those who are humble. They will be given the earth. 6 Blessed are those who are hungry and thirsty for what is right. They will be filled. 7 Blessed are those who show mercy. They will be shown mercy. 8 Blessed are those whose hearts are pure. They will see God. 9 Blessed are those who make peace. They will be called children of God. 10 Blessed are those who suffer for doing what is right. The kingdom of heaven belongs to them. 11 ‘Blessed are you when people make fun of you and hurt you because of me. You are also blessed when they tell all kinds of evil lies about you because of me. 12 Be joyful and glad. Your reward in heaven is great. In the same way, people hurt the prophets who lived long ago. 



13 ‘You are the salt of the earth. But suppose the salt loses its saltiness. How can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything. It will be thrown out. People will walk all over it. 14 ‘You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill can’t be hidden. 15 Also, people do not light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand. Then it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine so others can see it. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will bring glory to your Father who is in heaven. 



17 ‘Do not think I have come to get rid of what is written in the Law or in the Prophets. I have not come to do this. Instead, I have come to fulfil what is written. 18 What I’m about to tell you is true. Heaven and earth will disappear before the smallest letter disappears from the Law. Not even the smallest mark of a pen will disappear from the Law until everything is completed. 19 Do not ignore even one of the least important commands. And do not teach others to ignore them. If you do, you will be called the least important person in the kingdom of heaven. Instead, practise and teach these commands. Then you will be called important in the kingdom of heaven. 20 Here is what I tell you. You must be more godly than the Pharisees and the teachers of the law. If you are not, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. 



21 ‘You have heard what was said to people who lived long ago. They were told, “Do not commit murder. Anyone who murders will be judged for it.” (2Mo 20,13) 22 But here is what I tell you. Do not be angry with a brother or sister. Anyone who is angry with them will be judged. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, “Raca”, must stand trial in court. And anyone who says, “You fool!” will be in danger of the fire in hell. 23 ‘Suppose you are offering your gift at the altar. And you remember that your brother or sister has something against you. 24 Leave your gift in front of the altar. First go and make peace with them. Then come back and offer your gift. 25 ‘Suppose someone has a claim against you and is taking you to court. Settle the matter quickly. Do this while you are still together on the way. If you don’t, you may be handed over to the judge. The judge may hand you over to the officer to be thrown into prison. 26 What I’m about to tell you is true. You will not get out until you have paid the very last penny! 



27 ‘You have heard that it was said, “Do not commit adultery.” (2Mo 20,14) 28 But here is what I tell you. Do not even look at a woman in the wrong way. Anyone who does has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, poke it out and throw it away. Your eye is only one part of your body. It is better to lose an eye than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. Your hand is only one part of your body. It is better to lose a hand than for your whole body to go into hell. 



31 ‘It has been said, “Suppose a man divorces his wife. If he does, he must give her a letter of divorce.” (5Mo 24,1) 32 But here is what I tell you. Anyone who divorces his wife makes her a victim of adultery. And anyone who gets married to the divorced woman commits adultery. A man may divorce his wife only if she has not been faithful to him. 



33 ‘Again, you have heard what was said to your people long ago. They were told, “Do not break the promises you make to the Lord. Keep your promises to the Lord that you have made.” 34 But here is what I tell you. Do not make any promises like that at all. Do not make them in the name of heaven. That is God’s throne. 35 Do not make them in the name of the earth. That is the stool for God’s feet. Do not make them in the name of Jerusalem. That is the city of the Great King. 36 And do not make a promise in your own name. You can’t make even one hair of your head white or black. 37 All you need to say is simply “Yes” or “No”. Anything more than this comes from the evil one. 



38 ‘You have heard that it was said, “An eye must be put out for an eye. A tooth must be knocked out for a tooth.” (2Mo 21,24; 3Mo 24,20; 5Mo 19,21) 39 But here is what I tell you. Do not fight against an evil person. Suppose someone slaps you on your right cheek. Turn your other cheek to them also. 40 Suppose someone takes you to court to get your shirt. Let them have your coat also. 41 Suppose someone forces you to go one mile. Go 2 miles with them. 42 Give to the one who asks you for something. Don’t turn away from the one who wants to borrow something from you. 



43 ‘You have heard that it was said, “Love your neighbour. Hate your enemy.” (3Mo 19,18) 44 But here is what I tell you. Love your enemies. Pray for those who hurt you. 45 Then you will be children of your Father who is in heaven. He causes his sun to shine on evil people and good people. He sends rain on those who do right and those who don’t. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Even the tax collectors do that. 47 If you greet only your own people, what more are you doing than others? Even people who are ungodly do that. 48 So be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
