1Ihr sollt euch keine Götzen machen, und ein Götterbild[1] und einen Gedenkstein[2] sollt ihr euch nicht aufrichten, und keinen Stein mit Bildwerk sollt ihr in eurem Land hinstellen[3], um euch davor ⟨anbetend⟩ niederzuwerfen; denn ich bin der HERR, euer Gott. (2Mo 20,4; 3Mo 19,4; Ri 18,30; 2Kön 17,8)2Meine Sabbate sollt ihr halten, und mein Heiligtum sollt ihr fürchten. Ich bin der HERR. (3Mo 19,30; 5Mo 28,1)3Wenn ihr in meinen Ordnungen lebt[4] und meine Gebote haltet und sie tut, (Neh 1,9)4dann werde ich euch die Regen⟨güsse⟩ geben zu ihrer Zeit, und das Land wird seinen Ertrag geben, und die Bäume des Feldes werden ihre Frucht geben. (5Mo 11,13; Ps 65,10; Ps 67,7; Ps 85,13; Hes 34,27)5Und die Dreschzeit wird bei euch bis zur Weinlese reichen, und die Weinlese wird bis zur Saatzeit reichen. Und ihr werdet euer Brot essen bis zur Sättigung und werdet sicher in eurem Land wohnen. (3Mo 25,19; 5Mo 11,15; Jes 1,19; Jes 30,23; Joe 2,22; Am 9,13)6Und ich werde Frieden im Land geben, dass ihr euch niederlegt und es niemanden gibt, der ⟨euch⟩ aufschreckt. Und ich werde die bösen Tiere aus dem Land austilgen, und das Schwert wird nicht durch euer Land gehen. (3Mo 25,18; 2Chr 20,30; Ps 144,14; Ps 147,14; Jes 35,9; Hes 34,25; Hos 2,20; Hos 14,10)7Und ihr werdet euren Feinden nachjagen, und sie werden vor euch durchs Schwert fallen. (Jos 23,10; Ri 7,23; Ri 15,15; 1Sam 14,13; Ps 81,15)8Fünf von euch werden hundert nachjagen, und hundert von euch werden zehntausend nachjagen, und eure Feinde werden vor euch durchs Schwert fallen.9Und ich werde mich zu euch wenden und euch fruchtbar machen und euch mehren und meinen Bund mit euch aufrechterhalten. (1Kön 3,8; Jer 23,4)10Und ihr werdet das alt gewordene alte ⟨Getreide noch zu⟩ essen ⟨haben⟩ und das alte vor dem neuen wegräumen müssen. (3Mo 25,22)11Und ich werde meine Wohnung in eure Mitte setzen, und meine Seele wird euch nicht verabscheuen. (5Mo 23,15; Jer 7,23; Joe 2,27; 2Kor 6,16)13Ich bin der HERR, euer Gott, der ich euch aus dem Land Ägypten herausgeführt habe, damit ihr nicht ihre Sklaven sein musstet. Und ich habe die Stangen eures Joches zerbrochen und euch aufrecht gehen lassen. (2Mo 14,8; 2Mo 20,2; 3Mo 25,42; 5Mo 28,15; Jes 9,3; Jer 28,2; Hes 34,27; Nah 1,13)14Wenn ihr mir aber nicht gehorcht und nicht all diese Gebote tut (Ps 81,12)15und wenn ihr meine Ordnungen verwerft und eure Seele meine Rechtsbestimmungen verabscheut, sodass ihr nicht alle meine Gebote tut und dass ihr meinen Bund brecht, (2Chr 36,16; Ps 50,17; Jer 31,32)16dann werde ich meinerseits euch dieses tun: Ich werde Entsetzen[6] über euch verhängen, Schwindsucht und Fieberglut, die die Augen erlöschen und die Seele verschmachten lassen. Und ihr werdet vergeblich euren Samen säen, denn eure Feinde werden ihn verzehren. (Hi 31,8; Jer 5,17; Jer 12,13; Mi 6,15)17Und ich werde mein Angesicht gegen euch richten, dass ihr vor euren Feinden geschlagen werdet. Und eure Hasser werden über euch herrschen, und ihr werdet fliehen, obwohl niemand euch nachjagt. (3Mo 17,10; Ri 2,14; Ri 3,8; Ri 6,2; 1Sam 4,10; 1Sam 12,15; 1Kön 8,33; 2Kön 13,3; Neh 9,27; Ps 53,6; Spr 28,1; Jes 30,17; Jes 63,10; Kla 2,4)18Und wenn ihr mir daraufhin nicht gehorcht, dann werde ich fortfahren, euch zu züchtigen, ⟨und zwar⟩ siebenmal wegen eurer Sünden. (2Mo 9,14; Jes 5,25)19Und ich werde euren starken Hochmut[7] brechen und werde euren Himmel wie Eisen machen und eure Erde wie Bronze. (1Kön 8,35; Jer 14,4; Hes 33,28)20Und eure Kraft wird sich umsonst verbrauchen, und euer Land wird seinen Ertrag nicht geben, und die Bäume des Landes werden ihre Frucht nicht geben. (1Mo 4,12; 5Mo 11,17; 1Kön 18,2; Hos 2,11)21Wenn ihr euch aber mir entgegenstellt[8] und mir nicht gehorchen wollt, dann werde ich euch weiter schlagen, ⟨und zwar⟩ siebenfach nach euren Sünden. (2Mo 9,14; Jes 5,25)22Und ich werde die Tiere des Feldes unter euch senden, dass sie euch kinderlos machen und euer Vieh ausrotten und euch ⟨an Zahl⟩ verringern, und eure Wege sollen öde werden. (Ri 5,6; 2Kön 2,24; Jes 33,8; Kla 1,4; Hes 5,17)23Und wenn ihr euch dadurch nicht von mir zurechtweisen lasst und euch mir entgegenstellt[9], (Jer 5,3; Dan 9,13; Am 4,6)24dann werde ich meinerseits mich euch entgegenstellen[10], und ich meinerseits werde euch schlagen, ⟨und zwar⟩ siebenfach wegen eurer Sünden. (2Sam 22,27)25Und ich werde das Schwert über euch bringen, das die Rache des Bundes vollzieht. Und zieht ihr euch in eure Städte zurück, dann werde ich die Pest in eure Mitte senden, und ihr werdet in die Hand des Feindes gegeben werden. (2Mo 5,3; 5Mo 32,25; 2Kön 17,3; 2Chr 24,24; Jes 1,20; Jes 65,12; Jer 19,7; Hes 6,3; Hos 11,6; Hab 3,5)26Wenn ich euch den Stab[11] des Brotes zerbreche, werden zehn Frauen euer Brot in einem Ofen backen, und sie werden euch das Brot zurückgeben nach dem Gewicht[12]; und ihr werdet essen und nicht satt werden. (2Kön 6,25; Ps 105,16; Jes 3,1; Jes 9,19; Hes 4,16)27Und wenn ihr mir trotzdem nicht gehorcht und euch mir entgegenstellt[13],28dann werde ich mich euch im Grimm entgegenstellen[14], und ich meinerseits werde euch züchtigen wegen eurer Sünden, ⟨und zwar⟩ siebenfach. (Jer 7,20; Kla 4,11)29Und ihr werdet das Fleisch eurer Söhne essen, und das Fleisch eurer Töchter werdet ihr essen. (2Kön 6,29; Jer 19,9; Hes 5,10)30Und ich werde eure Höhen[15] austilgen und eure Räucheraltäre ausrotten, und ich werde eure Leichen auf die Leichen eurer Götzen[16] werfen, und meine Seele wird euch verabscheuen. (2Chr 34,4; Ps 106,40; Jer 16,18; Hes 6,3; Hes 16,39; Hos 10,2)31Und ich werde eure Städte zur Trümmerstätte machen und eure Heiligtümer öde machen, und ich werde euren wohlgefälligen Geruch[17] nicht riechen. (2Kön 25,9; Neh 1,3; Ps 74,7; Jes 1,13; Jer 4,7; Kla 1,1; Kla 2,6; Hes 6,6; Hes 12,20)32Und ich werde das Land öde machen, dass eure Feinde, die darin wohnen, sich darüber entsetzen sollen. (5Mo 29,23; Jer 18,16; Hes 5,15)33Euch aber werde ich unter die Nationen zerstreuen, und ich werde das Schwert hinter euch herziehen. Euer Land wird eine Öde und eure Städte werden eine Trümmerstätte sein. (5Mo 4,27; 1Kön 8,46; 2Kön 25,9; Neh 1,3; Est 3,8; Ps 44,12; Jes 6,11; Jer 4,7; Jer 8,3; Jer 15,4; Kla 1,1; Kla 4,16; Hes 12,20; Hos 9,6)34Dann endlich wird das Land seine Sabbate ersetzt bekommen[18], all die Tage seiner Verödung, während ihr im Land eurer Feinde seid. Dann endlich wird das Land ruhen und seine Sabbate ersetzt bekommen. (2Chr 36,21)35All die Tage seiner Verödung wird es ruhen, was es nicht an euren Sabbaten geruht hat, als ihr darin wohntet. (3Mo 25,2)36Und die Übriggebliebenen von euch – in ihr Herz werde ich Verzagtheit bringen in den Ländern ihrer Feinde; und das Rauschen eines verwehten Blattes wird sie verfolgen, und sie werden fliehen, wie man vor dem Schwert flieht, und fallen, obwohl niemand sie verfolgt. (3Mo 26,17)37Und sie werden einer über den andern hinstürzen wie vor dem Schwert, obwohl niemand sie verfolgt; und ihr werdet vor euren Feinden nicht standhalten können. (3Mo 26,17; Ri 2,14; 1Sam 4,2; Jer 46,16)38Ihr werdet umkommen unter den Nationen, und das Land eurer Feinde wird euch fressen. (Jer 22,12)39Und die Übriggebliebenen von euch werden in ihrer[19] Schuld vergehen[20] in den Ländern eurer Feinde und auch in der[21] Schuld ihrer Väter werden sie mit ihnen vergehen[22]. (5Mo 8,20; 2Chr 34,24)40Und sie werden ihre Schuld bekennen und die Schuld ihrer Väter, die in ihrer Untreue ⟨liegt⟩, mit der sie an mir treulos gehandelt haben, und besonders darin, dass sie sich mir entgegengestellt haben[23]. (3Mo 5,5; 5Mo 30,2; 1Kön 8,33; Esr 9,6; Neh 9,2; Jer 3,13; Kla 1,20; Dan 9,4)41Ich meinerseits werde mich ihnen entgegenstellen[24] und sie in das Land ihrer Feinde bringen; ob sich endlich ihr unbeschnittenes Herz demütigt und sie endlich ihre Schuld bezahlen[25]. (2Chr 12,6; Esr 9,15; Neh 9,33; Jer 9,25; Hes 14,23; Apg 7,51)42Dann werde ich an meinen Bund mit Jakob denken. Und auch an meinen Bund mit Isaak und auch an meinen Bund mit Abraham werde ich denken, und an das Land werde ich denken. (1Mo 15,18; 1Mo 26,24; 1Mo 28,15; 5Mo 4,31; 5Mo 9,27; Lk 1,72; Röm 11,28)43Denn das Land muss von ihnen verlassen sein, damit es in seiner Verödung ohne sie seine Sabbate ersetzt bekommt[26], und sie selbst werden ihre Schuld bezahlen[27], darum, ja deshalb, weil sie meine Rechtsbestimmungen verworfen haben und ihre Seele meine Ordnungen verabscheut hat. (2Chr 36,21)44Aber selbst auch dann, wenn sie in dem Land ihrer Feinde sind, habe ich sie nicht verworfen und sie nicht verabscheut, ein Ende mit ihnen zu machen, meinen Bund mit ihnen ungültig zu machen; denn ich bin der HERR, ihr Gott. (1Mo 17,7; Neh 9,17; Ps 94,14; Ps 103,13; Jer 24,5; Jer 31,20; Röm 11,2)45Und ich werde ⟨zum Guten⟩ für sie an meinen Bund mit den Vorfahren denken, die ich aus dem Land Ägypten vor den Augen der Nationen herausgeführt habe, um ihr Gott zu sein. Ich bin der HERR. (1Mo 15,18; 1Mo 26,24; 1Mo 28,15; 3Mo 11,45; 5Mo 4,31; 5Mo 9,27; Lk 1,72; Röm 11,28)46Das sind die Ordnungen und die Rechtsbestimmungen und die Gesetze[28], die der HERR zwischen sich und den Söhnen Israel auf dem Berg Sinai durch Mose gegeben hat. 1‘ “Do not make statues of gods for yourselves. Do not set up a likeness of a god or a sacred stone for yourselves. Do not place a carved stone in your land and bow down in front of it. I am the LORD your God.2‘ “You must always keep my Sabbath days. Have respect for my sacred tent. I am the LORD.3‘ “Follow my rules. Be careful to obey my commands.4Then I will send you rain at the right time. The ground will produce its crops. The trees will bear their fruit.5You will continue to harvest your corn until you gather your grapes. You will continue to gather your grapes until you plant your crops. You will have all you want to eat. And you will live in safety in your land.6‘ “I will give you peace in the land. You will be able to sleep because no one will make you afraid. I will remove wild animals from the land. There will not be any war in your country.7You will hunt down your enemies. You will kill them with your swords.8Five of you will chase 100. And 100 of you will chase 10,000. You will kill your enemies with your swords.9‘ “I will bless you. I will give you many children so that there will be many of you. And I will be faithful to the covenant I made with you.10You will still be eating last year’s crops when you will have to make room for new crops.11I will live among you. I will not turn away from you.12I will walk among you. I will be your God. And you will be my people.13I am the LORD your God. I brought you out of Egypt. I did not want you to be slaves in Egypt anymore. I threw off your heavy load. I helped you walk with your heads held high.
Punishment for not obeying the Lord
14‘ “On the other hand, suppose you do not listen to me. Suppose you do not carry out all my commands.15Suppose you say no to my rules and turn away from my laws. And suppose you break my covenant by failing to carry out all my commands.16Then here is what I will do to you. All at once I will bring terror on you. I will send diseases that will make you weak. I will send fever that will destroy your sight. It will slowly take your strength away. When you plant seeds, it will not do you any good. Instead, your enemies will eat what you have planted.17I will turn against you. Then your enemies will win the battle over you. Those who hate you will rule over you. You will run away even when no one is chasing you.18‘ “After all that, suppose you still will not listen to me. Then I will punish you for your sins seven times.19I will break down your stubborn pride. I will make the sky above you like iron, and it will not rain. I will make the ground under you like bronze, and you will not be able to farm it.20You will work with all your strength, but it will not do you any good. That is because your soil will not produce any crops. The trees of your land will not bear any fruit.21‘ “Suppose you continue to be my enemy. And suppose you still refuse to listen to me. Then I will multiply your troubles many times because of your sins.22I will send wild animals against you. They will kill your children. They will destroy your cattle. There will be so few of you left that your roads will be deserted.23‘ “After all those things, suppose you still do not accept my warnings. And suppose you continue to be my enemy.24Then I myself will be your enemy. I will make you suffer again and again for your sins.25I will send war against you to punish you for breaking my covenant. When you go back into your cities, I will send a plague among you. You will be handed over to your enemies.26I will cut off your supply of bread. Ten women will need only one oven to bake your bread. They will weigh out the bread piece by piece. Even when you eat all of it, it will not be enough to satisfy you.27‘ “After all that, suppose you still do not listen to me. And suppose you continue to be my enemy.28Then I will be angry with you. I will be your enemy. I myself will again punish you for your sins over and over.29You will eat the dead bodies of your sons. You will also eat the dead bodies of your daughters.30I will destroy the high places where you worship other gods. I will pull down your incense altars. I will pile up your dead bodies on the lifeless statues of your gods. And I will turn away from you.31I will completely destroy your cities. I will destroy your places of worship. The pleasant smell of your offerings will not give me any delight.32I myself will destroy your land so completely that your enemies who live there will be shocked.33I will scatter you among the nations. I will pull out my sword and hunt you down. Your land and your cities will be completely destroyed.34Then the deserted land will enjoy its sabbath years. It will rest. It will not be farmed. It will enjoy its sabbaths. But you will become prisoners in the country of your enemies.35The land will rest the whole time it is deserted. It was not able to rest during the sabbaths you lived in it.36‘ “Some of you will be left in the lands of your enemies. I will fill your hearts with fear. The sound of a leaf blown by the wind will scare you away. You will run as if you were escaping from swords. You will fall down, even though no one is chasing you.37You will trip over one another as if you were running away from the battle. You will run away, even though no one is chasing you. You will not be able to stand and fight against your enemies.38While you are still scattered among the nations, you will die. The lands of your enemies will destroy you.39You who are left in those lands will become weaker and weaker. You will die because of your sins and the sins of your people who lived before you.40‘ “But suppose you admit that both you and your people who lived before you have sinned. You admit the evil and dishonest things you have done against me. And you admit you have become my enemy.41What you did made me become your enemy. I let your enemies take you into their land. But suppose you stop being stubborn. You stop being proud. And you pay for your sin.42Then I will remember my covenant with Jacob. I will remember my covenant with Isaac. I will remember my covenant with Abraham. I will remember what I said to them about the land.43You will leave the land. It will enjoy its sabbaths while it lies deserted because you are not there. You will pay for your sins because you said no to my laws. You turned away from my rules.44But even after all that, I will not say no to you or turn away from you. I will not destroy you completely in the land of your enemies. I will not break my covenant with you. I am the LORD your God.45Because of you, I will remember the covenant I made with the people of Israel who lived before you. I brought them out of Egypt to be their God. The nations saw me do it. I am the LORD.” ’46These are the orders, the laws and the rules of the covenant the LORD made on Mount Sinai. He made it between himself and the Israelites through Moses.
